Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11-BIRTH OF Z TECH LABS

Graduation day at Future Tech Academy felt like the sunrise after a long storm. Students in white coats filled the courtyard, exchanging hugs, handshakes, and promises of keeping in touch. For Allen (Sugar), Steve (Salt), and Stacy Rivera, it wasn't an ending — it was the ignition of something far greater.

Dr. Adrian Blake stood on stage as the names were announced.

"These three students," he said, gesturing toward them, "remind us that innovation begins with friendship and courage."

Applause thundered through the hall. Lily Evans, holding her certificate, shouted from the crowd,

 "Team Z Four forever!"

After the ceremony, the trio gathered near the academy gates.

"So," Allen said, grinning, "what's next? A vacation?"

"No," Steve replied. "A lab."

"A lab?" Stacy repeated, eyes wide.

"Our lab," Steve said with conviction. "A place where we can build without limits — away from VoltCorp, away from restrictions."

Lily joined them, tossing her backpack over her shoulder.

"I know a spot. My uncle owns an empty workshop near the old mining district."

Allen's eyes lit up. "That's perfect. We'll build it from scratch."

And they did. Over the next few weeks, they cleaned the dusty space, installed salvaged lab benches, and wired computers from discarded academy equipment. The faint smell of solder and chemicals filled the air once again — familiar and comforting.

Ethan Ward handled equipment assembly, Ryan Cole set up security systems, and Leo Grant, now their youngest recruit, painted the sign above the door:

 Z-TECH LABS – POWERING TOMORROW.

Underneath, Steve added in smaller letters: Founded by Dreamers. That night, the team gathered around their first functioning generator — a polished version of the Auto-Cell project that had once started in a school shed. The light it emitted glowed soft and golden, filling the room with quiet pride.

"From a classroom to this," Allen said, smiling.

"To the future," Stacy added, her hand brushing Steve's.

"To Z-Tech," Lily said, raising her cup.

The others echoed the words — their voices blending with the hum of machinery.Outside, a new sign flickered to life, glowing against the dark Kalgoorlie skyline.
