Chapter 1 - The last wolf blood ( Chapter 2)

Chapter 2: THE HUNT FOR BLOOD AWAKENED

Night had fully fallen.

Kai walked beside the man now, reluctantly.

He still didn't trust him.

But the street didn't feel safe anymore.

Every shadow felt like it was watching him.

Kai finally spoke.

"So what am I supposed to do?"

The man replied:

"Survive."

Kai frowned.

"That's not an answer."

The man glanced at him.

"It is the only one you need."

They walked in silence for a while.

Then Kai spoke again.

"What are those packs you mentioned?"

The man slowed slightly.

"Wolves that live among humans. Organized. Controlled."

Kai frowned.

"So like gangs?"

The man shook his head.

"Worse."

Kai felt uneasy.

"Why would they come after me?"

The man looked at him directly.

"Because your existence breaks their rules."

Kai stopped walking.

"What rule?"

The man answered:

"No human is allowed to awaken wolf blood without a registered pack contract."

Kai looked down at his arm.

The mark was still faintly glowing.

"So I'm illegal?"

The man nodded once.

"Yes."

A long silence followed.

Then—

A howl echoed through the night.

Kai froze instantly.

Another answered.

Then another.

The man's expression changed.

"…Too many."

Kai stepped back.

"What is that?"

The man turned slightly.

"A hunting pack."

Suddenly—

Movement in the darkness.

Figures stepped out.

Not fully wolves.

Not fully human.

Something in between.

Their eyes glowed faintly.

One of them smiled.

"So this is the Blood Awakened."

Kai's breathing quickened.

"What do they want?"

The man answered quietly:

"Your death."

Kai clenched his fists.

"I don't want to fight."

The man looked at him.

"They don't care."

The leader of the pack stepped forward.

"Kill him.".

THE FIRST TRANSFORMATION

The forest was never silent.

Even at night, it had life—wind through leaves, insects hidden in the dark, distant calls of animals moving carefully through territory they did not own.

But tonight…

Everything was wrong.

No insects.

No wind.

Even the air felt heavier, like the forest itself was holding its breath.

Kai stood at the edge of the clearing, his fists clenched tightly. His body still trembled from the last words he had heard.

"Kill him."

That one command had changed everything.

Now, in front of him, they were no longer hiding.

The hunting pack had surrounded him.

Six of them.

Maybe more.

Their presence wasn't wild like normal wolves. It was controlled. Organized. Each one standing at a calculated distance, forming a circle around him like soldiers.

And at the center of it all, Kai.

The man who had been guiding him stood slightly behind.

Kai glanced at him.

"What now?" Kai asked, his voice low.

The man didn't look away from the pack.

"Now," he said calmly, "you survive."

Kai swallowed hard.

"That's not an answer."

The man finally looked at him.

"It is the only one that matters."

A wolf stepped forward from the circle.

But it wasn't fully a wolf.

Its body was half human, half beast. The transformation wasn't complete, but it didn't need to be. Its eyes glowed faint gold, and its movements were far more controlled than any wild animal.

It smiled.

"So this is the anomaly," it said.

Kai frowned.

"Anomaly?"

The man beside Kai answered quietly.

"That's what they call you."

Kai looked at him sharply.

"I didn't ask for any of this."

The wolf laughed softly.

"That's what makes it interesting."

The air shifted.

The pack tightened the circle slightly.

Kai felt it immediately.

Pressure.

Not physical.

Something deeper.

Like his instincts were being forced awake.

His chest tightened.

His vision blurred for a second.

And then—

Pain.

A sharp burning sensation exploded from his arm.

Kai gasped and dropped to one knee.

"Ah—!"

The mark.

It was burning again.

But this time, it wasn't just pain.

It was responding.

The wolf tilted its head.

"There it is," it said quietly. "The Awakening Mark."

Kai clenched his teeth.

"What is this thing?" he growled.

The man's voice came low.

"It's reacting to their presence."

Kai looked up sharply.

"Why?"

The man hesitated for a moment.

"Because your body recognizes them as threats… and as kin."

Kai froze.

"…Kin?"

The wolf smiled wider.

"Yes," it said. "Because whether you accept it or not…"

It stepped forward slowly.

"…you're one of us."

Kai shook his head.

"No… I'm not."

The wolf stopped just a few meters away.

"Then explain why your blood is reacting like that."

Kai looked at his arm.

The mark was glowing faintly now.

Thump.

Thump.

His heartbeat was changing.

Slower.

Heavier.

Deeper.

Something inside him was waking up, and it didn't care what he believed.

Kai stood up shakily.

"I don't understand any of this…"

The man finally spoke again.

"Then don't think."

Kai turned.

"What?"

The man's eyes were sharp now.

"Thinking slows you down. Instinct keeps you alive."

Kai frowned.

"That doesn't help me."

The man stepped slightly back.

"It will."

The wolf raised its hand.

"Enough talk."

The air shifted instantly.

The pack moved.

Fast.

All at once.

Kai's body reacted before his mind could.

He dodged.

Barely.

A claw tore past his shoulder, ripping his jacket instead of his skin.

Kai stumbled back.

"What the—?!"

Another attack came from the side.

Kai ducked instinctively.

Again.

He didn't even realize how he was moving.

It felt like his body already knew what to do.

The man's voice cut through.

"Don't resist it."

Kai snapped back.

"Stop saying things like that!"

But then—

Another attack.

Kai tried to block it this time.

And failed.

He was thrown backward into the ground.

Pain shot through his back.

"Ugh!"

The wolf stepped closer.

"You're weak," it said simply. "Because you're still pretending to be human."

Kai's breathing became heavier.

"I am human…"

But even as he said it…

He wasn't sure anymore.

The mark pulsed again.

Harder.

Stronger.

And suddenly—

A sound escaped his throat.

Low.

Deep.

Not a shout.

Not words.

A growl.

Kai froze.

His eyes widened.

"…No."

The wolf stopped.

The entire pack paused.

Even the man's expression changed slightly.

Kai slowly looked down at his hands.

They were shaking.

But not from fear.

From something else.

Power.

The air around him felt different.

Denser.

Alive.

The wolf smiled.

"There it is…"

Kai's breathing slowed.

His vision sharpened.

Everything became clearer.

Too clear.

He could see them.

All of them.

Every movement.

Every muscle shift.

Every intention before it even happened.

His body bent slightly forward without him controlling it.

"Stop…" Kai whispered. "Stop this…"

But his voice was different now.

Lower.

Heavier.

The man muttered behind him.

"It's starting."

Kai didn't hear him properly.

Because something inside him had finally cracked open.

The mark on his arm lit up fully.

And the forest responded.

A sudden wave of pressure burst outward from Kai's body.

The pack stepped back instinctively.

Even the lead wolf frowned now.

"…That pressure…"

Kai lifted his head slowly.

His eyes were no longer fully human.

A faint golden glow had appeared inside them.

"I said…" Kai repeated, voice changed now.

"…stop."

Silence.

The wind returned.

The forest breathed again.

And for the first time…

The hunters hesitated.

Because the prey was no longer just prey.

Something inside Kai Mercer had awakened.

And it was no longer asking for permission....
