After class, Sharon stormed down the hallway.
"Sharon, wait!"
She ignored Dylan and kept walking.
He jogged after her. "Hey, partner!"
She spun around. "Don't call me that."
"Relax," he said. "It's not like I asked for this either."
"Oh really?" she said. "Because you're the last person I want to work with."
Dylan placed a hand over his chest dramatically. "That hurts."
"I'm serious," Sharon said. "You never take anything seriously."
"That's not true."
"Then prove it."
He thought for a moment.
"Fine," he said. "Let's meet after school today and start the project."
Sharon blinked.
"You're… serious?"
"Very."
She studied him suspiciously.
"Library. Three o'clock," Dylan said.
Sharon hesitated before finally nodding.
"Fine," she said. "But if you waste my time, I'm telling Mr. Peterson."
Dylan grinned.
"Don't worry," he said. "You might actually enjoy working with me."
Sharon rolled her eyes and walked away.
But as she headed to her next class, she couldn't stop thinking about one thing.
Why did Dylan suddenly seem so serious?
And for the first time since their rivalry began, Sharon wondered if maybe there was more to Dylan than she thought.
