Chapter 2 - Introduction

Many people grow up believing that attachment and love are the same thing.

When someone gives us attention, we feel seen. When someone pulls away, we feel anxious. And somewhere between hope and uncertainty, we begin to hold on tighter, convincing ourselves that what we feel must be love.

But sometimes, what we call love is simply the fear of being alone.

Attachment has a quiet way of disguising itself as devotion. It makes us believe that if we just try harder, wait longer, or become more understanding, the other person will finally choose us with the same certainty we feel for them.

Yet real love was never meant to feel like survival.

Real love does not ask you to abandon your dignity, silence your boundaries, or shrink your worth just to be accepted. Love should bring clarity, not constant confusion.

This book was written for anyone who has ever felt emotionally tied to someone who was inconsistent, distant, or uncertain. For those who stayed longer than they should have, hoping that patience would eventually turn attachment into something real.

These pages are not here to judge the heart. They are here to help you understand it.

Because once you learn to recognize the difference between attachment and love, you begin to return to something far more important than chasing someone else's certainty.

You return to yourself.
