"Mom, Dad… we've managed to gather fifty thousand dollars," Fiona said, her voice steady but strained.
Fallyn immediately scoffed. "I thought you said you didn't want to take anything from Hazel?"
Fiona's head snapped toward her sister.
"Shut the fuck up," she snapped sharply. "It's my money. I didn't take anything from her."
Eva quickly stepped in, gripping Fiona's hand gently. "It's okay… stop fighting, girls."
Fiona exhaled sharply, forcing herself to look at her mother instead of arguing further. "Go and talk to them."
"Baby, why don't you speak to them yourself?" Eva said softly, her eyes pleading. "You're better with them."
"Oh God, Mom…" Fiona muttered under her breath, exhausted.
"You're keeping them waiting. Hurry up," Fallyn added impatiently.
"Shh, Fallyn," Brett warned weakly from behind them. "Be respectful."
Fiona glanced sideways at her sister, her patience thinning.
"I shouldn't have to stress myself with you right now."
