Chapter 3 - 2: Royal Training Portal

Kyo entered the royal palace gate as if walking toward an inescapable fate. This place did not belong to him, nor was he welcome—but he walked with steady steps, as if the ground beneath him recognized him, and the stones preserved his shadow.

Passing through the Royal Academy's gate felt like crossing an invisible barrier between two worlds. Behind him lay his dark past, and ahead stretched a path fraught with conflicts and an uncertain destiny.

It was never his dream to become a royal knight; he longed to be a hunter, living a life far from bloodshed and the tragedies he had endured. But he knew full well: any deviation from the written path meant death, and his journey had to begin here, among the ornate courtyards and towering halls, where beauty hid buried intentions.

The first hall was unusually quiet. He officially registered for the royal training—no turning back. He was given the key to his room and walked there with heavy steps. Inside, awaited a person he never expected: Ringen.

His hair was a carefully draped purple, and his green eyes gleamed with cunning behind a deceptively innocent smile.

He was the Emperor's niece's son, but the darker truth: he was responsible for the death of Kyo's adoptive father, a mysterious incident during past training that had shattered Kyo's heart.

Yet Kyo now was not the boy he used to be.

He approached with a smile, extending a hand in peace: "Hello... I'm Kyo. Please take care of me."

Ringen raised an eyebrow in surprise. He hadn't expected Kyo to speak to him, let alone ask for his goodwill. He eyed Kyo for a moment, then gave a smile halfmischievous, half-surprised

"Please take care of me as well... though it's better if you avoid me. I can be somewhat troublesome."

Kyo gestured to the opposite bed with a faint smile

"Unfortunately, we are in the same room."

Ringen chuckled softly, but deep inside, suspicion began to stir. What had changed in him?

Training began with indescribable severity: physical drills, magical challenges, and psychological tests. The academy was divided into the Royal Knights, the Sorcerers, and those without magic. Kyo, without magic and without royal blood, was alone.

Yet alone or not, no one dared to mock him. His charisma, intelligence, and mastery of every weapon—the sword, axe, spear, even the iron chain that everyone avoided for its difficulty—made anyone think twice before treating him as inferior.

These drills were not a pastime, but a struggle for survival. Each week brought comprehensive tests among the students, and Kyo was often among the top, earning envy and hatred.

In the training yard, two figures stood out:

Yuzi, a calm boy with short brown hair and warm eyes, possessing an incredible amount of knowledge. He was the first to help Kyo understand the palace's hierarchy and the imperial family.

Ahr, a tall, blonde young man, his face sculpted as if from stone. He rarely spoke, fought like a machine. Kyo faced him in a duel, defeated him utterly, and from that day, they stood side by side with few words.

Despite having no magic, Kyo used his sharp mind to master cursed weapons, fueled by mysterious, complex energies that could turn the tide of battle.

Days passed, and the true turning point came one night when Kyo summoned a mysterious shadow being. Ancient spells, tears that hadn't dried, and an inner voice whispered

"You are the chosen one, even if you were not born of royal blood."

The shadow laughed

"I am the one who will move your destiny from the margins of pages to the chronicles of history."

From that moment, the dark being became Kyo's constant companion—playful, mocking, yet loyal.

Ringen, despite his dark past, revealed another side. A young man burdened with grief, not an absolute enemy. One night, they sat together on the balcony, gazing at the royal city lights. Ringen spoke

"These nobles... they see us only as tools. The entire system needs reform... democracy, equality, justice."

Kyo remained silent, only looking at him long and calmly

"Some changes can only come through fire... and maybe I am the one to ignite it."

Yet the truth Kyo knew had not faded: Ringen had killed his adoptive father, the cause of all the pain he endured. Still, he now saw him as a potential ally, someone who could reshape the future of the story entirely.

That moment was not trivial. For the first time, Ringen felt that someone understood him. Kyo did not despise him; he seemed to see past the facade. Perhaps, if they became friends, much could change.

But in deeper shadows, seeds of rebellion quietly took root. Kyo's journey would be difficult—between internal and external struggles, protecting himself and those he cared about, between silent rebellion and forced obedience.

Would Kyo succeed in building his new life on his own rules? Or would he sink into the whirlpool of fate that leaves no escape?
