That evening, her phone rang.
"Hello", she said softly.
" Let's hang out today_ maybe watch a movie? " his voice came through, warm and familiar.
" 8 pm", he added. " Under the moonlight ".
A few minutes later, a car horn echoed outside_ beep beep. She rushed to the window. There he was, waiting.
Her heart shipped. She quickly dressed, smoothing her hair, her excitement impossible to hide. She ran down the stairs, and together, they drove off into the night
The movie was forgettable, but being with him wasn't. Afterward, they went to their favorite restaurant, sitting close, talking about everything and nothing.
" Do you still love me? " She asked quietly.
He smiled, almost amused.
" What's the point of that question? Of course I do. Always ".
He dropped her home that night, and she believed him.
She always did.
But slowly, things began to change.
His replies became late. His calls grew shorter. Work, he said_ always work. Whenever she asked to go out, he refused.
" I'm busy ", he'd say.
Days turned into weak.
One night, she walked alone through quite streets. The moonlight shimmered softly, the wind whispering through the tress. Leaves fell gently and the world felt strangely still.
Then she heard laughter. Near a flower shop.
She stepped closer.
There he was _ her boyfriend_ laughing talking.... With another girl. He bought a bouquet, smiling in a way she hadn't seen in a long time.
Her chest tightened.
But she forced a smile.
Maybe she's just a colleague, she thought. Maybe those flowers are for me . He knows I love them.
She walked away, holding onto hope.
That night, she waited.
9 pm _ no message
10 pm _ no nothing.
Finally, she texted: where are you, darling? I miss you.
No reply.
The next morning, a message appeared.
" I'm home. I was very busy, that's why I couldn't reply ".
She exhaled, whispering, " Hmm".
Har heart settled _ for now.
Later that day, her phone rang.
" Hey ", he said quickly." I'm going to the USA for a business meeting, I'll be back next month. Take care, baby".
Before she could respond, the call ended.
She stared at the screen.
Still, she chose to believe him
Weeks passed.
His messages grew colder. Calls became rare. Doubts began to creep in.
Her mind returned to that night_ the flower shop, the bouquet.
If it was for me..... Why did I never receive it?.
Her thoughts spiraled. Her heart grew restless.
One day, she went to the zoo , hoping to clear her mind.
It was summer. The sun was bright and children laughed nearby. She watched the animals_ living peacefully, even within boundaries.
They seem happy, she thought. And I..... I have everything, yet I feel empty.
She walked further.
And then_
She froze.
In the distance, she saw him.
Her boyfriend with the same girl.
Laughing. Close comfortable.
Her heart pounded so laudly it felt like the world could hear it. Her legs weakened and she sank to the ground.
He said he was in the USA...
She returned home in silence.
Called him.
No answer.
Tears fell, but her mind searched for clarity.
I need the truth, she thought.
An hour later, a message came:
" Baby, I'm busy in a meeting, I couldn't take your call. I'll be back tomorrow. Come to the airport if you're free".
She didn't want to go. Because deep down, she already knew the truth. But her heart pulled her there.
When he arrived, she ran to him and hugged him tightly.
" I missed you so much ", she whispered.
He pulled back slightly.
" Don't be dramatic ", he said casually. " I was only gone for a month ".
Something inside her cracked.
The next day, on her way to work, traffic stopped at a red light.
She stared absentmindedly out the window.
And then_
Her world shattered.
In the car beside her, she saw him
Kissing the same girl.
No excuses. No misunderstandings. Just the truth.
That night, under a sky full of stars, she stood alone on a roof top.
Tears streamed down her face as she looked up.
" Was this my destiny? " She whispered.
On a silent, moonlit night, her heart heavy with sorrow, she felt as though she could carry no more.
