Chapter 1 - VALUE OF TIME

In the busy city of Kolkata lived a young man named Rana. He was intelligent, full of dreams, and always spoke about achieving great success. But there was one problem—Rana never respected time.

Every morning, his alarm would ring at 6:00 AM. He would open his eyes, look at the clock, and say, "Just five more minutes." Those five minutes always turned into an hour. He skipped his morning walk, rushed through breakfast, and often reached college late.

His teachers warned him many times. One day, his professor said,

"Rana, talent without discipline is like a ship without a compass."

But Rana laughed it off. "There's still plenty of time," he would say.

The Lost Opportunity

One day, a famous company, Infosys, announced a campus recruitment drive. This was Rana's dream opportunity.

The interview was scheduled at 9:00 AM sharp.

The night before, Rana stayed up late watching movies, thinking he would wake up early anyway. The next morning, his alarm rang… but as usual, he hit snooze again and again.

When he finally woke up, it was already 8:30 AM.

Panicked, he rushed without preparation. He reached the venue at 9:15 AM. The gates were closed.

"Please let me in!" Rana begged the guard.

"I'm sorry," the guard replied. "Time is over."

At that moment, Rana realized something painful—time waits for no one.

A Turning Point

Disheartened, Rana sat in a nearby park. He saw an old man feeding birds peacefully.

The old man noticed his sadness and asked, "What happened, son?"

Rana explained everything.

The old man smiled gently and said,

"Every second you waste is a piece of your life you'll never get back. Time is more valuable than money—you can earn money again, but not time."

Those words struck Rana deeply.

The Change

From that day on, Rana changed his habits completely.

He woke up early every day

Planned his tasks in advance

Reached every place on time

Focused on his goals

Slowly, his life transformed. His confidence grew, his grades improved, and opportunities began to come his way again.

Success at Last

A year later, another company came for recruitment. This time, Rana was fully prepared—and early.

He cleared every round confidently.

When he finally got the job offer, he smiled and whispered,

"Thank you, time… for teaching me your value."

Moral of the Story

Time is the most precious resource in life.

Once lost, it can never be regained.

Respect time, and it will reward you with success.
