Author's note: I am sorry guys for late posting have been busy lately. I need your thoughts on the novel and your support

The silence after the fight didn't feel like relief.

It felt… unstable.

Ethan stood where the attackers had vanished, his breathing uneven despite his efforts to steady it.

His body wasn't the problem.

It was everything else.

"…You're hurt," Lena said softly.

Ethan shook his head.

"…It's nothing."

But his voice didn't carry the same certainty.

Kai stepped closer, his gaze sharp.

"It's not nothing."

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…I said I'm fine."

Kai didn't argue.

He just looked at him.

And that silence said enough.

Because Ethan knew.

He wasn't fine.

Not completely.

He had held control.

But barely.

Too barely.

Lena stepped in front of him slightly.

"…Sit down," she said.

Ethan hesitated.

Then—

He didn't argue.

He leaned against the wall and slid down slightly, sitting with a controlled exhale.

For a moment—

Everything felt still.

Then—

The tremor hit.

Subtle.

But real.

Ethan's hand shook.

Just slightly.

But enough.

Lena noticed immediately.

"…Ethan."

He clenched his fist.

Trying to steady it.

Trying to ignore it.

"…It's just strain."

But it wasn't just that.

He could feel it.

Inside.

His control—

Wasn't stable.

Not fully.

It felt like something had stretched too far—

And hadn't settled back properly.

Kai crouched slightly in front of him.

"…You pushed too hard," he said.

Ethan didn't deny it.

"…I had to."

Kai nodded.

"Yes."

A pause.

"But that doesn't remove the cost."

There it was.

Cost.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…So what is this?"

Kai's gaze sharpened.

"A fracture."

Silence.

That word landed heavier than expected.

"…Explain," Ethan said.

Kai didn't look away.

"Your control isn't just skill."

A pause.

"It's structure."

Ethan frowned slightly.

"…Structure?"

Kai nodded.

"Yes."

He tapped lightly against Ethan's chest.

"Here."

A pause.

"And here."

He tapped Ethan's head.

"…When you pushed earlier—"

Another pause.

"You stretched that structure past its limit."

Ethan felt it again.

That instability.

That slight delay in response.

"…So it's damaged?" he asked.

Kai didn't sugarcoat it.

"Yes."

Lena's expression tightened.

"…Can it be fixed?"

Kai stood up slowly.

"It can recover."

A pause.

"But not instantly."

Ethan leaned his head back slightly.

"…So I'm weaker."

Kai shook his head.

"No."

A beat.

"You're unstable."

That was worse.

Because weakness could be overcome.

Instability—

Couldn't be trusted.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…How long?"

Kai didn't answer immediately.

"…Depends on you."

Of course it did.

"…Great," Ethan muttered.

Lena knelt beside him.

"…Hey."

He looked at her.

"…Yeah?"

She hesitated.

"…You still held it together."

Ethan let out a quiet breath.

"…Barely."

She shook her head.

"…But you did."

That mattered.

Even if it didn't feel like enough.

Ethan closed his eyes briefly.

Trying to center himself again.

But this time—

It wasn't as smooth.

His focus slipped—

Just slightly—

But enough to notice.

"…See?" Kai said.

Ethan opened his eyes.

"…Yeah."

He felt it.

That lack of precision.

That slight delay.

That instability.

"…Then we fix it," Ethan said.

Kai crossed his arms.

"Not by force."

Ethan frowned.

"…Then how?"

Kai's answer came simply.

"By slowing down."

That wasn't what Ethan wanted to hear.

"…We don't have time for that."

Kai's gaze didn't shift.

"You don't have a choice."

Silence.

Because that—

Was true.

If he kept pushing like this—

The fracture would get worse.

And next time—

He might not stop.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…So I pull back."

Kai nodded.

"For now."

That word mattered.

Because this wasn't permanent.

But it was necessary.

Lena stood up slowly.

"…Then we adjust."

Ethan looked at her.

"…You're okay with that?"

She smiled slightly.

"…I'd rather you stable than reckless."

That was fair.

Even if he didn't like it.

Ethan pushed himself up slowly.

His balance held—

But not perfectly.

Another reminder.

"…Alright," he said.

"…We slow it down."

Kai nodded once.

"Good."

But even as they stood there—

Ethan felt it again.

Faint.

Distant.

But present.

"…They're still watching," he said.

Kai didn't seem surprised.

"Of course they are."

Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…Then they know."

Kai glanced at him.

"They know something changed."

A pause.

"Whether they understand it fully—"

He shrugged slightly.

"…That's another matter."

Ethan exhaled slowly.

Because that meant one thing.

This wasn't over.

Not even close.

And right now—

He wasn't at his best.

"…Then we stay unpredictable," Ethan said.

Kai raised an eyebrow slightly.

"…With a fracture?"

Ethan met his gaze.

"…Especially with one."

Because if they thought he was weakened—

They might push.

And if they pushed—

He could learn.

Even like this.

Kai smirked faintly.

"Risky."

Ethan nodded.

"…Yeah."

But risk—

Was part of this now.

Lena stepped beside him.

"…Then we don't take stupid risks."

Ethan glanced at her.

"…Just necessary ones."

She gave a small nod.

"…Exactly."

For a moment—

The tension eased.

Not gone.

But balanced.

Ethan rolled his shoulder slightly.

Testing.

Still there.

That instability.

But manageable.

For now.

"…We move," he said.

Kai nodded.

"Slowly."

Ethan almost smiled.

Almost.

Because this wasn't victory.

This wasn't progress.

Not fully.

This was—

A setback.

A lesson.

A warning.

And if he ignored it—

It would cost him more next time.

Ethan looked ahead.

Eyes sharper.

Mind more focused.

Because now—

He understood something important.

Power wasn't the problem.

Control wasn't the problem.

Pushing too far—

Was.

And next time—

He wouldn't just fight smarter.

He'd know exactly where his limit was.

And how not to break it.
