Chapter 40
IVAN
When I go back to the dining room I find Saint crying all alone in the dining room. I call out to
Evelynne with no response. Saint keeps on crying. The distant sirens of the police draw my
attention. I take Saint into my arms but the child keeps crying. When Evelynne holds him he
barely cries then why is he crying now. Can he at least stop crying for a while.
The front door opens and Evanora rushes in wearing a formal suit. Worry is plastered on her
face. She stops in her tracks when she sees me.
"What are you doing here? Are you the one who turned Evelynne in to the police? I'm going to
kill you today. "
"Relax mother. I didn't even know she was taken by the police. I just found Saint alone in the
dining room and he's been crying unattended. "
"I'm going to get my daughter back. I'll deal with you later. "
"Wait please. You stay with Saint and I'll go get Evelynne from the police station. He's more
familiar with you than me and you're a mother so please. "
Evanora looks at Saint for a while, her eye's turning dark looking at the innocent baby. She
smiles slightly and agrees without putting on a fight. I don't think much of her sudden shift of
mood or her willingness to let me take Evelynne. She takes Saint and tells me to bring Evelynne
back within an hour.
I drove to the police station following the tracker I had inserted in Evelynne's neck during her
surgery which was hard to do with Evanora's security. When I get there Evelynne is locked in a
cell with two other women and she's sitting crouched on a corner staring into blank space.
"The girl you just arrested, I want her released right now, all charges dropped, null and void."
Policeman, "and who the hell are you? You think this is your parents house don't you. "
"I'm Ivan Zyraelle son of Nicholas Zyraelle and Evanora Correlza. Do those names ring a bell?
Now release her unless you want to deal with my mother herself. "
The smiles on their faces fade away and one of them unlocks her cell and brings out Evelynne.
They all bow their heads and apologize to me for offending me. Evelynne smiles at me gently
then thanks me. I drive her back home and she runs back in the house leaving me outside.
I take a sedative just in case she gets too hyper and runs after her in the house.
"Where's Saint? Mom, I can't find my son. Where is he? "
She looks around and still has no Saint in her arms. Evanora sits calmly on the sofa looking
unbothered by Evelynne's restlessness. This woman is playing with fire. What did she do to the
child? Evelynne stops in her tracks the calm and stressed mother who's looking for her son
vanishing. Now replaced by a different side of her. Her already dark eyes, darker, colder, icy and
murderous.
She glares at Evanora, a furious smile creeping on her face.
"Where is my son mother! I want my son now."
She turns feral and starts breaking things, the chairs she lifts them in the air and throws them to
the wall making them break. She pushes the table so hard and when it clashes against the wall
it breaks too. She screams furiously approaching Evanora. She's going to hurt her mother.
Before she can do anything I take out the sedative and rush to her stabbing the needle into
her skin. She calms down. Her body goes limp and her eyes close.
"What did you do to her?"
"what the fuck did you do to Saint? Where the hell is he? "
"He's safe, okay. He is with his new foster family and he'll be alright. "
"you fuckin stupid woman. Do you not understand what ASPD is? Let me give you a briefing
okay. ASPD stands for Antisocial Personality Disorder, a mental health condition characterized
by a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of others' rights, often starting in childhood
as conduct disorder and continuing into adulthood. Key features include a lack of empathy,
remorse, manipulation, deceitfulness, impulsivity, aggression, and consistent irresponsibility,
leading to difficulties in relationships, work, and the law. The only thing keeping her sane is her
son. You took that away. If Evelynne doesn't get her son back Evanora you'll be responsible for
losing her. The sweet little girl you know. She is gone. And guess what. You might have just
succeeded in destroying your daughter. Congratulations. "
