Chapter 67 - Chapter 67 The Mysterious Flower Field

Perhaps seeing that the woman remained motionless, the man began to slowly approach again.

Although the candle in Shen Muyu's hand suddenly became much brighter, it seemed to be suppressed by something in this world, so the little yellow animal in front of him was not too afraid.

Seeing that things weren't going to work out, Shen Muyu remembered a joke she had seen on a short video platform and decided to give it a try.

"We don't understand what you are saying."

As soon as the English sentence was uttered, the surrounding environment seemed to quiet down, and the thing opposite stopped in its tracks. But not long after, it started laughing.

"Do you think I look like a human?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Muyu was slightly stunned. Brother, if I'm not mistaken, this is an ancient dungeon, right? How come you can speak foreign languages?

But it was only for a moment. The little animal suddenly pounced on him, and Shen Muyu subconsciously raised the candle. Seeing this, Da Bai immediately bit it as well.

Although the animal in front of him looked much taller than Baymax when it stood up, it was not as strong as Baymax and was immediately knocked to the ground. Shen Muyu did not hesitate and held the candle to its body.

Although the candlelight turned red, it didn't seem to do much damage to the creature, only burning small holes in its fur.

Big White's attacks seemed to have lost their effectiveness, and he could only rely on brute force to suppress it. He tried to bite its vital points, but for some reason, he could never hit it and it would always dodge.

Shen Muyu guessed that the operating rules of each world were different, so he could only copy an obedient pancake.

This thing has quite a few limitations. Not only can it only amplify one item per slot, but you also have to feed all of them in for it to take effect.

As for the Obedient Flute, she tried to amplify it but couldn't get any new ones, so she didn't dare to use it rashly. After all, it's a group attack item, and using it here doesn't seem very worthwhile. Besides, what if she encounters a large group of enemies later?

Taking advantage of the fact that the creature was pinned down and unable to move, Shen Muyu took out the invisible raincoat, put it on only the arms and hands, and then used the obedient pancake to pry open its mouth.

Because of the tag "extremely high physical resistance", Shen Muyu had previously tried to cut it with a diamond axe, but even with great force, he couldn't break through it. That's why he took it out, just in case this thing bites him.

It took Shen Muyu a lot of effort to get all the sesame cakes into his stomach, and they took effect as soon as they entered his stomach.

The creature was no longer as fierce as before, but had quieted down. Shen Muyu told it to stick out its tongue, and it did so; he told it to glare, and it did so.

This made Big White release it, but unfortunately, the effect only lasted for ten minutes, otherwise it would have been good as a bodyguard on the road.

"Keep going along this road. If any other strange things appear, kill them on the spot." After giving the order, Shen Muyu hurriedly got the woman into the car and left to avoid being caught up later.

In fact, Shen Muyu's original intention in leaving that order was to let that guy run far away. If he really encountered other strange creatures and fought them, that would be even better. Maybe they could both be injured, and then they wouldn't chase after him.

But believe it or not, when that guy was heading back, he actually encountered a group of people. Although they were defeated after a short fight, it did slightly delay their progress.

Not long after the car drove away, Shen Muyu suddenly heard the woman speak.

"Thank you." The voice sounded very clear and crisp, suggesting the person wasn't too old.

"You can talk?" Shen Muyu's eyes widened slightly. Speaking was secondary; what she mainly didn't expect was that the woman would take the initiative to thank her.

"Um."

"Are you human?" Shen Muyu asked again after the woman answered.

"Mm." The woman nodded gently.

"What is a river god?" Shen Muyu asked after thinking for a moment, but this time the woman did not respond.

"Is he that powerful?" Seeing that the woman didn't react much, Shen Muyu became a little bolder.

"It's none of your business." Shen Muyu hadn't actually expected the woman to answer, but to his surprise, she spoke again.

"Alright." Shen Muyu quieted down again, silently pondering what the woman had just said.

The name "River God" immediately suggests something eerie, and the attitude of the corpse in the river further indicates that he must be quite powerful.

But why is the bride a human? Unconsciously, stories I've read before came to mind, like the sacrificial drowning in the river.

Gradually, Shen Muyu's gaze towards the woman carried a hint of heartache and something strange.

However, Shen Muyu wasn't stupid enough to believe everything she heard. It was just that she was imagining things and adding some emotion to it. All she had to do was complete the mission and leave this wretched place. Everything else was just wishful thinking.

Before long, they arrived at the next village, which looked extremely dilapidated. Shen Muyu even saw many houses that had collapsed due to years of neglect.

Moreover, the number of red lanterns here has decreased, with only a dozen or so houses having lanterns hanging on them, and they are quite far apart.

Sure enough, there were even fewer people worshipping in the village. You could count them at a glance: only 19 people, and almost all of them were middle-aged or elderly people; there wasn't a single child.

After the three kneelings were finished, Shen Muyu saw the village's offerings, which consisted of only three chickens. However, these chickens looked to be very well raised, each one plump and strong. It was a pity that they were all roosters, otherwise they would have laid six or seven eggs a day.

After setting off again, Shen Muyu surveyed the surroundings of the village and noticed that the fields cultivated by other villages were completely empty here.

I don't know how they survived, and how they managed to raise chickens like that. Is it because they were offered as tribute?

With a sense of doubt, the car passed through a flower field, where the flowers grew in a very... peculiar way.

Beneath the enormous black flower is a stem as thin as a chopstick, without any leaves, which looks very unbalanced, yet it also has a kind of eerie beauty.

Shen Muyu had been paying attention to the surrounding movements when suddenly something swayed past, and the car stopped.

Only then did Shen Muyu realize that the thing blocking his way was a plant root, long and thin.

Xiao A said that the car had actually crashed into it, but it was stopped by force, which shows that this small, inconspicuous root is probably a difficult thing to deal with.

"The River God's Bride, we have some offerings that we need you to take with you."

A series of ethereal sounds drifted into the car. You might think they sound nice after just one listen, but when layers of sound surged towards you, it was a different story.

Shen Muyu felt dizzy and lightheaded, and even though she covered her ears, she could still hear faint sounds.

Remembering the methods she had learned before, Shen Muyu kept opening and closing her mouth to relieve the pressure on her eardrums.
