Chapter 53 - Silver Diamond Inn

I left the spot where the guild members were casually strolling. I arrived at the inn where my brother had enough time to talk.

Patricia and Catherine also arrived in the inn just in time, they are now fully recovered by the chimera's attacks. Patricia regained her strength while Catherine restored some of her mana.

"Huh? Strange, this place surely is quiet." I said to my brother

"I agree, since the villagers evacuated their hometown. A fraction of the village population had been resided here. All that was left are men who are brave enough to repel the high orcs."

Before we arrived at the Silver Diamond Inn, this place was packed with customers all around the village, but ever since the high orcs was announced an attack. This place grew silent than ever, the once lively place suddenly became a abandoned pub,

Inside the inn, the only people remained are the male servers and assistants, no one else. The owner of the inn evacuated in cowardliness, while the bravest assistants remained in the inn.

"Table for four please!" I said to the server

"Oh, your one of the heroes from this village. You can have our meals for free!"

"Really!?"

One of the servers recognized the party as heroes who can repel the high orcs, ever since we got a word from the village elders. The remaining villagers from the village gave us some respect.

We sat at the corner side of the table, the table when we first met. The two girls sat at the other side of the table while I sat beside my brother. Discussing the thing we wanted to prepare

"So Brother, is the wall done?" I said calmly

"Definitely, Eirene. My mana is depleted after all the hardwork. Phew… this job is tough"

As Elias said that, I sensed his drastic change at me. Instead of his cold, edgy apperance from my members. He is an heartwarming brother on the inside, a side of personality that I never heard before. This is only then I realized his true side of my big brother.

Then, I looked one of Elias fellow and trustworthy companions, Patricia and Catherine, who stood at the other side of the table. I asked them each of my questions

"Hey girls, may I ask you a question?"

Then, Catherine and Patricia went all eyes on me, with its little heads tilted sideways. They respond in perfect synchronization

"What is it, Eirene?"

"How did you two girls met my brother? Is there some kind of bond between you two?"

The two girls looked eyes at my face, generating and sorting any information from their brains, as the two girls were thinking, Patricia raises it's hand and proceeded to talk

"Oh yeah, It was a very long and complicated story, but I summarize it easily."

Then, Patricia cleared her voice easily and proceed to tell her backstory in a sypnosis form. There, I can understand it clearly.

"I was the head of the Barbon Family five years ago. Led by my father, Patrick Barbon, who was a former capital knight. Ever since that day, I was respected by the capital knights in Caria City, I was taught by their ways, learned through my mistakes, and entrusted them with my heart. Then, one day, my father was executed innocently without trial. There, I broke down, knowing that justice wouldn't be served. As I was about to crash out, I was motivated by one of the kindest luminous knight I have ever met. Telling me to seek the justice that was served from my father. That knight was no other than Elias.

Tears dwelling from Patricia eyes as she said that, I can confirm that it is her backstory. While Patricia was in her time of sorrow, Catherine hurriedly raises it's hand and proceeded to talk

"Me! Me! My turn."

"Oh, sure."

Catherine breathe a huge gulp of air and proceeded to talk.

"I was just an orphan girl, my family died in a gruesome accident. I was gifted by the gods a human skill known as telekinesis, It allows the caster to warp their mana around anything within sight and control it remotely, including the four elements of nature. Elias adopted me as my father, ever since that day. Me and Elias are always close to each other."

"Wait, so your Elias's adopted daughter."

"You bet I am."

Seeing Catherine was my brother's adopted daughter, I was shocked about hearing the news. Elias was seen holding it's laughter beside me. While Catherine showed a blisfull of joy through me.

"From now on, Eirene, you will be my niece. While I, will be your aunt from now on."

"Aunt? Are you kidding me? Your only adopted and your telling me that I am your niece."

"Hold your horses, your older than me. I'm eighteen and your twenty. Don't expect me calling you my niece."

"Come on, Aunt Eirene, I'm your niece though."

From what I met in the first place, I always think that Catherine and Elias share the same traits, such as brown hair, Elias signature emerald eyes, and it's facial features look the same. But from what I have discovered, My brother has a daughter. Now, I will act for Catherine as my niece.

Also, I noticed that the girls have different backstories. Patricia does have a personal vendetta about the justice from this world. While Catherine is merely adopted by my brother itself, these two have their own causes for joining Elias's party in the first place.

As Patricia's tears flooded the table and Catherine keeps calling me "Aunt Eirene" multiple times like a destroyed cog. I turned back to my brother, whom was sitting beside me.

"Brother, may I ask you a question?"

"Sure, little sister, anything you want?"

As our eyes glared at each other, I couldn't think about the questions through my mind. Suddenly, Plasma interrupted me through my thoughts, supporting me once again.

"Hey Roxy, tell your brother about his dark magic, his past and his service from the luminous knight. I swear it's exciting."

"Plasma, isn't rude to ask too many questions about my brother's identity?"

"Well, you need to know his identity more often. Since you and him depart since childhood, it's better to know all his secrets from his little sister."

"Good idea."

As Plasma support takes the lead, I generated enough questions from Elias, to know his dark magic. I asked if without hesitation.

"Your human skill, Brother. The dark magic, tell me what is it?"

"Ah yes, I didn't introduce my dark magic very well, huh? So let's keep the jokes to a minimum."

Elias nodded. He cleared his throat and showed both I and his party the dark magic.

"This is a dark magic. This power grants the ability to convert my mana into this black smoke. It has seven abilities. These abilities differ depending on what the situation applies."

To put in all into perspective. Elias shared each abilities and it's corresponding technique.

Shadow Bullet, Elias signature skill from his fancy revolver, he uses it to power his magic revolver into his own dark magic. Costing little mana, Dealing excruciating damage that can instantly kill any low-level beasts

Metamorphosis, Elias transforms his revolver into a shape of a sniper rifle, deals high-penetrating damage with its long-range weapon mechanics, it eats chunks of mana every time a sniper bullets was created.

Shadow Horse, Elias primary transportation. It is a black horse that is twice faster than a normal horse. It eats mana away when prolonged use.

Dark Energy, Elias uses his dark magic to make solid blocks such as walls, structures and architectures. It depletes mana depending on the size

Shadow Crows, Elias can deploy dark crows that acts as a "military drones" that are used for mapping terrain, scouting and spotting things and details. It required deep concentration and mana

Shadow Buff, Elias can enhance and buff every weapon, making the weapon increased durability and increased damage. Requires little mana

Shadow Vault, Elias can store weapons and any other stuffs in a dark and black vault. It can summon willingly and can store people such as Carin. Requires mana

While Elias was explaining though the remaining abilities from his dark magic. The server of the inn approached at us. Carrying a tray full of delicious foods

"Heroes of Rebelbub Village, Here's your food!"

The server lend out a grateful smile, we greeted him on the way back. I noticed that there was a singular server inside the inn. No one else, not even the owner was in charge of this place.

The service of this inn was surprisingly long, despite the assistants was only a single one. He handled all the foods just for the sake of his heroes, from which it is his customers. It was a five-star inn, it fairly receives 3G's, good, great and gratitude.

"Dig in, Ladies!"

I took a bite on one of the dishes in the table. Lunch was vegetable soup with the bitter foam skimmed off the top, boiled into a thin grain porridge. It was nothing special, and I couldn't have said it was delicious, even if I wanted to be polite. There resources were limited, as well as their dishes come out in blank.

"You still eat this, huh?" Elias complained about the dish

"It's been like this since the monsters rose from the mountains. We're as poor now as we were then. The village has always been in a bad way, you know? Both the food and the people" the server replied

The villagers souls had crumbled under the weight of impoverishment. It made me glad to have left. While I slipped at my bowl of vegetable mush. The server of the inn told me everything he knew about the monsters tormenting the village

It was strange to realize that I was only now hearing the full details to my task. Not just about rescuing Cassius, but to provide aid in this village from the monsters attacks.

The server described the monsters as winged creatures who navigated the skies with ease. Flight alone made them dangerous. The server said that it has a lion's head, a goat's body and a tail of a serpant. I can tell what it is.

"Oh, that the chimera. We slained it yesterday," I asked

The server realized this cause and began sighing a breath of relief. The once slain monster that was tormenting the village was finished by the party itself. But the server changed its expression in an instant and continued.

"Perhaps did I heard it wrong? Did all of you slained the chimera?"

"Of course we did, we took it's heart and extracted it in the mountains."

"Wait, certainly you killed the chimera! Oh no, we were doomed. You'll kill us all!"

Based from the Rebelbub Mountain folklore, there were exactly two chimeras that roamed the mountain range. The one the party slained was the twin sister of the chimera, while the other twin was roaming at the mountains, searching it's sister's killer.

We made the other twin chimera pissed off. Now, it will began a full scale rampage about the sister's killer, the server said that the twin chimera was far stronger than the previous chimera that we fought yesterday. Making it enraged will destroy this village in seconds.

Elias spat out his dishes and was shocked to discover the news.

"So wait! There's a second chimera!"

"Yes! The chimera you killed in the wilderness was the twin sister of that chimera. You made the other chimera gone rogue. If the monster realizes it's killer, he'll might end up incinerating this village beforehand."

"Oh shit."

My worst fears were realized before my hunch had a chance to congeal. From outside the inn, human voices began to scream, both in rage and pure panic. We were in trouble.

"No, No, No… the chimera has arrived, we will about to get killed!"

The party ended up finishing their meals faster than I expected. Then waved at the server once again.

"Don't be stupid, were going outside. I'll promise I will make this village safe!"
