Years before Elias became what we know of today, he was a student at Alistair in Caria City.
Eight years ago when he served as a luminous knight. Alistair Peregrine John was Elias's mentor, they are far more complex than just of hunger and his prey, Alistair was once Elias' most promising student and his friend.
Years before the current events, Alistair took Elias under his wing as a student. Elias, a master of dark magic and marksmanship, recognized his student has a full potential to surpass Alistair strength.
Under Alistair tutelage, Elias learned how to navigate the darkness and master the tactical use of his human skill, becoming proficient enough to face high-to-peak-level beasts. Alistair grueling training made Elias what we know of today.
Alistair pushed Elias to its limits, often suggesting that he should master the pinnacle of dark magic, learning all the various techniques and abilities that increase the dark magic's true potential. Leading to Elias being able to summon shadow horses and crows willingly, he uses his human skill as a stepping stone to get stronger.
Despite Elias's reputation for being annoying and edgy, he shared a genuine bond with Alistair, his teacher, frequently referring to him as a friend more than his mentor. While Elias used his strength to eventually protect his sisters, Elicia and I.
During those six years of grueling training, Elias had mastered the techniques from his dark magic and briefly organized its current stats. His marksmanship was greatly improved, leading the LKBA or Luminous Knight Bureau Association to reward him with an ancient artifact known as Death Chant Revolver, a powerful weapon that only charges when a user manifests dark magic.
And that same day, Elias was away on a mission, and Alistair disappeared shortly after their training was complete, he was presumed dead from that day on. Leading Elias's breakdown and guilt through his shattered heart.
During those two years of guilt, he became ruthless from what we know of today. He is sarcastic, edgy and even threatened anyone who stood in his path. This led to an investigation into his father's killer. The one man he trusted of, my father, died from an unknown accident, this led to Elias's suspicion and doubt to himself.
Upon tracking all the remaining clues, he pinpoints the details of the exact killer, from his discovery, it was his method, Alistair Peregrine John himself. Not only him but five unknown people were spotted and killed by my father's hands. This led to Elias having a keen sense of vendetta.
Since Alistair is dead through his perspective, he will search and track the remaining killer from my father. Its only goal is to get revenge on my father's killers, who were the five unknown men.
And yet, years later, during a pursuit in the rural plains, Elias cornered a robed figure's skull mask to reveal the face of the mentor he once called friend. A handsome man in his forties with semi-blonde hair and deep and dark circles in his eyes.
"Now then, I wonder why you came back from the dead, Sensei."
Elias muttered
Elias mumbled himself as he tied Alistair up with dark magic from his right arm and started riding him back to the village. Clouds of dust still hang over the devastated plains, where they were covered in a sea of blood and flesh. Elias drove through the carnage while dragging Alistair along.
He was well and truly defeated now.
"Unhand me at once, Elias!" Alistair raged
"Huh? Do you think I will trust a meek puppet like you, Sensei?"
A few minutes, we arrived at the village's walls, the party were all gathered up, waiting for Elias arrival. One of the party members were excited to see both me and Elias on the same boat.
When she'd seen Elias drag Alistair back, she'd waited for him outside the village's walls. The only people present at the moment were Me, Elias, Catherine, Patricia, Alta, and a few of the village's most important people. Even Cassius and Natalie arrived at the scene.
If they brought the culprit into the village, Elias had no doubt it would cause an uproar, so he'd met them all here. The villagers and many of the village's prominent figures were busy dealing with the battle's aftermath.
Elias hesitantly walked up to Alistair, who was conscious. The fact that he was wearing a black robe, and that himself had taken him directly from the battlefield, proved his guilt.
"Sensei, what the hell is the meaning of this? I thought you were dead?"
Alistair stepped back, then shouted at Elias in a loud tone.
"Do you know the truth? Elias Rynd? I've raised you since the start! You felt no remorse about your elders!"
Then, Alistair speaks to Elias, knowing that it is his former student overall…
After Elias thinks that Alistair died, the truth is that he didn't die, instead he left the country after Elias was deployed. He was sent by the Luminous Knight Bureau Association to conduct an dungeon expedition.
It was then that the first expedition to the dungeon happened. It was located at the northern side of Caria City. Alistair saw this expedition as his chance. No one ever noticed him. No one cared if he was there or not. He didn't even realize how unrealistic his hopes were… but the events in the dungeon later forced him to realize the truth.
He wasn't anyone special, the universe wasn't going to bend over backwards to make him seem special, and if he let his guard down for even a second, he'd die. Alistair only had hypnotic magic, only that is considered useless.
Upon realizing the truth, the expedition is just a decoy, the soldiers are here just to betray Alistair. Just to frame me from having a useless skill, it is said that hypnotic magic was considered useless from the ranking of magic. Alistair magic is considered useless. Only high rank magic like Elias should perish.
Luckily, he managed to get out alive, wounded and betrayed, Alistair decided to flee the city in the process. The witnesses called out that Alistair died while on the expedition.
Because of that traumatic experience, Alistair lost all hope from the life he'd been through. He'd kept himself going by making excuses and secretly despising everyone around him, so he was by no means strong-willed. It was all because of his useless skill.
Jealousy corrupted Alistair's mind, he fell into envy about his student's human skill, Dark Magic, which was Elias Rynd itself.
Defeated, he reverted to being a shut-in when he fled the county, but he could no longer turn to protecting his students to find solace. So instead, he lost himself in books about hypnotic magic, as his profession was a magic caster.
Hypnotic magic generally influenced the target's thoughts and perception. In combat, its main purpose is to disrupt its five senses. He took it like a fish to water, and he quickly grew proficient at creating illusions to disoriented foes, interfering with their ability to cast magic, and even making them hurt themselves in confusion.
In his depressed state of mind, Alistair came to realize something about the magic he was practicing. If he mastered hypnotic magic completely, could he not control another person's mind? That thought brought him great excitement. If he was correct, he could manipulate anyone to do anything he wanted. Anything.
That twisted thought took root in Alistair's mind. From that day, he devoted himself utterly to the study of hypnotic magic.
Two years after his presumed death, he mastered hypnotic magic entirely. His progress was so advanced that his hypnotic magic can activate on humans as well.
With high intelligence beings, like humans, couldn't be brainwashed unless he spent a day or more continually casting magic at them. This also required them not to resist at all.
But with these two years of hardwork, he can brainwash and hypnotize every living being.
In order to confirm his theory, he returned to Caria City from that day on, he'd snuck out of the Capital every night to experiment on the weak monsters found in nearby plains. He'd found that hypnotizing monsters was far easier than hypnotizing humans. Though it was only easy for him because of how much natural talent he'd already possessed.
Once he was certain of his abilities, Alistair started craving stronger monsters more than humans to place under his control. However, he would easily get caught from the bustling city of Caria because he was presumed dead for a long time, of course, he didn't want to arouse suspicion of the knights. Especially his late student, Elias Rynd, who'd become stronger since.
As he was worrying about what to do, he heard that one of the Luminous Knights was assigned to search for the missing boy who is accompanied by the royal families. He figured if he followed that knight, he'd be able to find some pretty strong monsters during his travels.
That's why he arrived at Rebelbub Mountain, he'd disappeared and headed to the mountains to make monster puppets. When he next returns, it will be at the head of a great monster army, and he will deserve some revenge.
Originally, even with his outstanding affinity for hypnotic magic, and even if he'd focused only on the leaders of each tribe, he wouldn't have been able to control more than a thousand or so. And he wouldn't have been able to control monsters any stronger than a high orcs.
However, thanks to the assistance of a certain individual, along with the stroke of fortune that had let him control Alta, he'd been able to command monsters from far away as the first mountain range.
He forged a contract with said individual, who then started sending him more reinforcements everyday. All that power finally corrupted him.
Convinced that he was actually special, he waited for an opportunity to unleash his might on Rebelbub Village, planning to get revenge that the people mocked from his hypnotic magic. However, he was handily defeated by Elias, and brought to the village in chains.
His all-powerful army had been mercilessly slaughtered.
Upon explaining Alistair's evil plan towards Elias, he shrugged in disgust. The once kind mentor suddenly became a ruthless individual.
Elias kneeled down until he was at eye level, then gazed patiently at Alistair. His eyes started darting out. He averted his gaze and started explaining… or rather insulting everyone.
"Why? You can't even tell me why? That's why you're all a bunch of incompetent losers. You all always look down on me… and go on about hero this, hero that. Even though I'm way better than that prick like you… none of you ever noticed. You always just pretended like I wasn't even there… You all a butch of retards!"
Seeing Elias's gloomy expression, I snapped back and shouted at Alistair.
"You little… Do you realize what you did? You nearly killed everyone in the village. And you called my brother a loser. Have some respect for your students." I shouted
Alistair didn't show the least bit of remorse. I couldn't take it anymore and started yelling at him. Intimidated, Alistair hung his head and went silent. Elias couldn't bear to see Alistair like that, so he stopped me from going any further. Then, in a gentle voice as she could muster, he responded to his words.
"Sensei, I will ask you two questions. If you proceed not to ask. I will kill you on the spot!" Elias says calmly
"Quit thinking Elias, I will keep my mouth shut!"
Then, Elias pushed the barrel on Alistair's head, instead of a revolver, he pointed a sniper rifle at his forehead. Even if he pulled the trigger, Alistair's head will be blown into pieces.
"Metamorphosis magic, I see my students do that."
"Shut up and talk."
Elias breathed a huge gulp of air then continued.
"But you know, Sensei. I don't understand, why would you try to get back on your precious students like that? Why'd you try to attack the city? If you succeeded… and killed all the people in the village… even if you have an army of monsters in your command, that wouldn't have proven your worth."
Alistair looked up at Elias, dark eyes peering through his dirty bangs. He smiled thinly and gave a most shocking answer.
"I proposed a contract to the immoral knights." Alistair asks
"What!?"
Immoral knights are the heretics of the Luminous Knights Bureau Association, they are the rebels that fight alongside the monsters. They are a disgrace of humanity, and yet Alistair managed to team up with the stain of the luminous knight.
Everyone except Elias let out a gasp of surprise. His smile turned into a triumphant grin, which only made his voice grow stronger.
"I went alone to the northern mountain range to hypnotize monsters. But while I was over there, I met a member of the immoral knights. I was wary at first, but the demon just wanted to talk to me. And they were the first ones who understood. Who understood my true worth. That was why I made a contract with them."
"A contract… you say? What kind of contract?"
Elias was shaken by the fact that one of his mentors had a deal with the enemy. But more than that, he was furious. He was convinced it was the member of the immoral knight that had led his mentor away.
However, Alistair simply grinned maniacally and gave the most disrespectful answer he could've possibly heard.
"A contract to kill you, Elias."
For a second, Elias couldn't comprehend what Alistair had just said. The others were the same, but they recovered from their shock faster than Elias. They glared at Alistair with eyes full of rage. He shrunk back in the face of unbridled hate, then desperately continued talking in an attempt to shake off their glares.
"What's with that dumb look? The rebel told me that if I killed you, if I killed the bearer of the dark magic, that I'd be recognized as a hero. That was the deal."
The corner of Alistair's eyes twitched, and he continued in an increasingly louder voice.
"They told me. They told me my hypnotic power was the strongest. That it was a waste for me to languish beneath the hero. They actually understood. They gave me all these strong monsters, and the strength to make a huge army. So I thought that I'd be able to kill you for sure! So why!? How!? How did you beat an army of a thousand monsters? Where did you get those kinds of weapons? What the fuck, Elias."
A hint of irritation, hatred and jealousy slipped into his expressions along the weariness, fear and the odd sense of superiority. However, Elias stepped back and dug the rifle deeper.
"Sensei, why did you kill my father?"
The atmosphere grew tense as Elias said that question, even me I was shocked about his answer. The ominous answer that lies between our lives. Then, Alistair speaks.
"Oh, that bald-headed coward? That father of yours?"
Hearing Alistair's response made Elias gritted his teeth in anger, its nerves pulse in rage and decisively pulled the trigger.
"Rot in hell, Sensei."
As Elias pulled the trigger, he noticed that it was jammed. Meaning that it doesn't work.
The truth is that Alistair used his hypnotic magic to disable the sniper rifle in a few seconds. Even if Elias pulled the trigger multiple times, it still doesn't work. Because of that, he approached me and tightened his grip from me and pulled me forward.
Alistair then wrapped his arm around my neck and started squeezing. He pinned my arms and he touched his hand from my face.
"Nobody move! My hand was imbued with hypnotic magic! One spell and she's brainwashed!"
