I was at my bed in the Silver Diamond Inn, Catherine stood beside me. From that day on, three days have passed and I still haven't moved a muscle, not even an inch. I was like a sleeping baby who slept for three days straight.
Catherine continued healing me from that day on, catching breaks and recovering me and vice versa. My body temperature and pulse were still normal. She touched my chest, no, nothing had ever progressed. As time went by, all of this seemed to lose hope, then suddenly a miracle happened.
"Huh!?"
My eye twitched a little, so did my left eye, then ears, and mouth… It was no joke, I was alive, enough action to attract Catherine to get back on her senses.
Elias also arrives in time, hoping to see my face twitch in succession. This is good news because my three days of slumber were about to end. I was getting free from my hypnotic magic.
Normally, when you are soon affected by hypnotic magic, there is no stopping by. When a person was hypnotized, there was no sense of cure and recovery. Even if a small portion of the brain was brainwashed, there was no point of recovery, with the sole exception of a diamond-ranked healer who wields high healing magic that can cure all curses including hypnotic spells.
Catherine was a silver-ranked healer, only excels of using basic healing magic. But seeing that I was about to recover, she quickly raised its staff and began pouring a lot of mana from that staff.
After a second that felt like an eternity. Elias continued watching me for a few seconds more, just to make sure her healing magic had healed me through my mind.
Meanwhile, Catherine was staring at me with a blank look on my face, my eyes stopped twitching and peeped out a little.
"Eirene!"
I opened my eyes after I left Roxanne's domain, Catherine noticed and immediately responded to me. Her screams echoed through my room as she noticed that I was alive.
"Eireneeeee, I'm glad you're alive!"
Catherine hugged me tightly as I woke up from my sleep, tears welling in Catherine's eyes. She dropped her staff to the ground and took a quick peek around my face.
As Catherine echoed head through the inn, several people came and barged through my room, all of them were surprised to see me alive and well. One of the people was Natalie herself
"Lady Roxy, I miss you." Natalie said in excitement
Soon enough, Natalie decided to join in, both arms open wide, hugging me more tightly than ever. They didn't see that their vice-leader came back from the dead. Leaving me with no choice but to hug both of them tightly.
Behind the corner of the room, Cassius, Patricia, Alta and Elias were also surprised to see me, instead of hugging me. They were surprised to see my arrival. By some miracle, I survived the hypnotic spell with no chance. Others were fascinated while some cried and teared up from my sudden recovery. It was a miracle that Roxanne decided to save me.
Elias, who was sat in the corner, saw his little sister was suffocated from the hugs I was giving, I was letting any touch of skin I've received, instead of letting it all out, he disgustingly replied
"Ah shit, here we go again." Elias muttered
Elias remembered the group hugs from one of my guildmembers, he described it as weirdly attractive. Despite knowing I've endured some sexual touches. But he was happy on the inside, seeing his little sister endured the spell that Alistair casted
"I'm so glad you're alive, Eirene! I miss you!" Elias responded calmly
Seeing my brother's kind response, I stopped hugging the two girls who stood in my way. Natalie, who had tears covered in her entire face, suddenly asks.
"Lady Roxy, you're finally awake. After three straight days, you're finally awake!"
I was led to a shocked face when I heard that right. While Natalie noticed my sudden confusion, she repeatedly replied.
"What did you say, Natalie?"
"You're a heavy sleeper, Lady Roxy, you slept for three days."
Then again, by the time that battle was over, I had been pretty much at death's doorstep, so the timeline did make sense.
I was at the domain in three minutes, conversing with my old self and encountered Plasma's true human form, but seeing that three days had passed, I can tell that one minute in my spiritual plane is equivalent to one whole day. They were shocked that I slept nearly three days in total.
But, because of Catherine's constant healing over the past three days into slumber, my body is alive and well, I can move my body like an energetic child, and my vision has started to get clearer. I was finally saved.
"Oh?!"
Suddenly, a large rumbling of my stomach echoed through the room, it was not the sound of the blood curse, but the sound of a single hunger. I was embarrassed when I heard that loud sound of my stomach, I left a small blush.
"Oh, It seems that you're hungry, Eirene." Catherine asks
Hearing my stomach rumble to the room made their stomach rumble as well, they were also hungry because they were worried about me, about my safety as Elias's little sister, so I asked them calmly.
"Well, let's dine in. I'm hungry though!"
Then Elias stepped in, his face said otherwise…
"Good Idea Eirene, I knew you were a lot during those three days of slumber. Let's have a feast!"
After that, I stood up on my bed and went to the pub section of the inn, I excitedly sat beside the tables and others followed in.
The reason why Elias had a positive attitude over me was because the people that were affected by hypnotic magic will not make it out alive. As the statistics suggests, 50% of the time the hypnotic magic will brainwash the person, making it lose all memories and the hypnotic effect will take place. 25% of the time the hypnotic magic will paralyze the person's body while the 24% of the time the hypnotic magic will damage the brain instead, making a possible brain disorder.
Thus, the remaining one percent was me, who survived the hypnotic magic with no minor injuries. The brain was not affected and my mindset was far from usual. Elias was surprised by this because the person who survived the hypnotic spell was me, his little sister. He thinks that I was special enough to endure that kind of scenario.
But the truth is that, my old self saved me from that tragedy, from which the soul of Roxanne Albatross that was inside of my body. The chances were not enough because I am lucky to have a good soul.
Once the day's work ended, the server of the inn gave us delicious meals for free, because of our heroic act of saving the village from the marching monsters. It was full of delicious meals, all of them made from Rebelbub Village.
"Eirene, your magic is amazing! I can't believe you can even restore your mind that was so badly damaged… At this rate, you look normal again in another week." Patricia said
"I see… Well, that's good."
Patricia knew I was still in shock, but she deliberately spoke cheerfully. She wanted to cheer me up however she could. However, I responded in the same generic monotone as always.
But Patricia herself was still shaken by the fact that I was recovered by the hypnotic spell that casted by Alistair. Though I tried to hide it, the party could tell I was forcing myself to act happy. Hence, why my attempts to lighten the atmosphere failed, and she wasn't able to cheer me up. The other parties were too depressed to be of much use either.
"Eirene, I knew the pain you've been through after you were casted by the hypnotic spell. If that trauma resolves you, I'll be there. I swore that I would serve you and you alone Eirene. No matter what happens, I'm on your side." Patricia said
"I see… that's good."
At this point, it was hard to tell if Patricia was trying to cheer me up or proposing.
It was borderline heretical for a holy paladin to state they'd fight against my trauma, but I still wondered all that I have been through.
However, I casually brushed them off with the same absentminded response. I probably didn't listen. Elias and his party shrugged their shoulders. There was a smug expression on their faces. Natalie and the others were looking at me like that too.
I ignored their little squabble and continued robotically eating my dinner.
"If only I'd talked to Roxanne more… if only I'd realized her pain earlier… this wouldn't have happened… if only I hadn't asked my brother for help… if only I hadn't let myself get taken hostage… If I die, I'll…" I said in my thoughts
For the thousandth time, streams of questions flooded my mind, I gripped my spoon tighter…
There was so much to think about, and so much I didn't want to think about. My mind was like a collapsed bookshelf. Filled with information but completely unorganized.
A gentle voice interrupted my brooding.
"Eirene. Was the food not to your liking?"
"Hweauh?"
Elias was standing beside me. His voice was quiet enough to be lost in the din. But everyone in this inn knew when he was talking to them. His words possessed some strange quality that made them impossible for their recipient to miss. Even me, who had been lost in a sea of my own thoughts, reacted to his voice.
Realizing I'd been just blurted out a weird squeal, I blushed as I turned to Elias.
"Umm what did you say? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." I said
"My apologies for disturbing you. You seemed unhappy little sis, so I was simply worried whether the food I'd ordered was not to your taste. I can bring out another dish if you prefer?" Elias replied
"Not at all, what you ordered was delicious. I was just thinking about something…"
Though I couldn't actually remember what said food had tasted like. I looked around and saw everyone was staring at me worriedly.
I took another bite of food to convince everyone was doing fine, but I swallowed too quickly and started coughing.
Everyone was concerned about me. Natalie casually provided me with a napkin and a glass of water.
"Sorry. Big brother."
"Oh it's no trouble at all."
Elias's gentile smile never left his face, ever since I survived the hypnotic magic, they began respecting me. He narrowed his eyes slightly, and said a compassionate voice.
"By the way, little sis. This may be weird of me, but may I offer you a word of advice?"
"Huh? Oh, yes. It's not weird at all"
I tilted my head in confusion. Elias smiled wryly.
"It appears to me that you are struggling with something important. And there are so many things you have to think about, so many things you don't want to think about, that you're unsure of what to do. You can't tell what's right and what's wrong. But you're convinced that you still have to do something and so you're rushing to make a decision. But all that does is serve to make you even unsure. Am I correct?"
Elias had read me like a book, Elias didn't know the details of what had happened to his sister. So he had no way of knowing that I was in this predicament right now precisely because I'd believed too hard in what I felt was right. I will never change my old past right now, it was time to move on. Even when my soul of my old self resided to this day, I'm still questioning myself if this is all necessary.
"Brother, how did you know?"
"I've had all sorts of people stay over the years." He replied with a sincere smile.
I put my fork down and started thinking.
"What even is that now? I wanted to return back to Earth and live a normal life. But that's not possible anymore. Now I just want to go back without losing anyone else. I wanted to see Mom, to meet Dad, and to meet my little sister, Rayne."
While my thoughts from Earth were swirling like a blending machine. My brother patted my head once again like a little child and left.
"Take a rest, Eirene. I know you're having a rough day."
