Chapter 5 - the iron relic

CHAPTER 5: THE IRON RELIC (RE-REVISED)

SFX:HEAVY BREATHING... MIST HISSING...

The jungle didn't just feel like a forest anymore; it felt like a digestive system. The trees were slick with a violet, oily resin. Just as the creature's screech echoed from behind them, a rusted, jagged blade sliced through the vines in front of Aarav.

Aarav: (Lifting his hands, eyes wide) Don't—!

Soldier:Schweig! (Silence!) Unless you want her to taste the iron in your blood from a mile away.

The man who stepped out of the shadows looked like a living statue. He wore a tattered, grey 1943 Wehrmacht mountain tunic. His skin was the color of old parchment, stretched tight over a skull-like face, but his eyes... they were a piercing, frozen blue. He carried an antique rifle slung over his shoulder and a gas mask hanging from his belt.

The Sanctuary: The "Dead Zone" Tent

He led them to a small tent hidden inside the hollowed-out trunk of a massive, dead tree. The interior was lit by a single, buzzing ultraviolet bulb powered by a hand-cranked generator.

Soldier: I am Klaus. I came to this valley when your world was at war. For you, eighty years have passed. For me... I have only slept thirty times.

He tossed a heavy, oily rag to Aarav. Inside was a Luger P08. It felt freezing to the touch.

Klaus: This is "Old Iron." It was forged before the Meteorite landed. The beast cannot "sense" this metal because it lacks the modern impurities she craves. To her, this gun is invisible. To you, it is salvation.

The True Story: The Star-Parasite

Klaus sat down, his bones creaking like the house itself. He pulled back his sleeve to reveal a pulsing violet brand on his forearm—the silhouette of a girl's hand.

Klaus: (His voice a ghostly rasp) In 1943, we were sent here to find a "Wunderwaffe"—a miracle weapon. We found a grieving father instead. He was a local Alchemist who had found a Violet Meteorite in the crater behind this hill.

Klaus: His daughter was dying. He thought the star-stone held the "Breath of God." He liquified the meteorite and injected it into her heart. He didn't save her. He gave her body to a Parasite from the Void.Meera: (Trembling) So she's not a ghost?

Klaus: She is a Magnet. She creates a "Time-Loop" to keep her prey close. She eats the metal of your world to build a "Radio-Tower" back to her home. If she finishes the nest in that Bungalow, she won't just watch this village. She will signal the others.

Aarav: (Checking the Luger's magazine) How do we stop a literal star-monster?

Klaus: (Standing up, grabbing a satchel of dynamite) She is "Molting." Every hundred moons, she sheds her physical form to grow larger. Right now, her heart—the original Meteorite—is exposed in the cellar. We go in through the crawlspace. We blow the heart, or we become the next layer of her nest.

Aarav: (Looking at his friends) We're out of options. Klaus, lead the way.
