Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Gravekeeper

After sprinting 50 meters, Wei Huan finally saw what had crawled out of the Earth Cave.

It was the overly large Undead creatures of an Earth Cave Beast.

Earth Cave Beasts are general-level creatures from alternate dimensions.

They closely resemble spiders from Blue Star and possess the ability to command hundreds or thousands of smaller Earth Cave Beasts.

In the Challenges of alternate dimensions, they are extremely troublesome opponents for humans.

After all, a single Earth Cave Beast is a small legion, and advanced Earth Cave Beasts can even cultivate different types of soldiers.

The key is that the Earth Cave Beast hides in the back; if you can't kill it, an endless stream of enemies will appear.

They are the backbone of alternate dimensions in planar wars.

However, the largest Earth Cave Beast Wei Huan had ever seen was only about the size of a car, but this Earth Cave Beast that crawled out from underground was like a container truck.

When it fully emerged from the ground, its outstretched legs could easily reach both sides of the road.

And most importantly, it was nothing but a Undead creatures, its pale body devoid of any flesh, as if it had slept underground for endless years, its green flames in its eyes ignited, returning to the world with fury.

Then.

It charged forward.

Mu Chong: "..."

Wei Huan: "..."

Mu Chong: "A stray monster?"

Wei Huan: "Perhaps."

Mu Chong: "You're not very lucky."

Wei Huan: "Perhaps."

Mu Chong: "That's terrible, my luck is extremely bad, and we're together."

Wei Huan spared him a glance: "Why isn't it a negative times a negative equals a positive?"

"I'd hope so, but you see... I brought bad luck, didn't I? Oh, right, I haven't thanked you for being willing to take me in, you know, I can't drive *cough cough cough*!"

Wei Huan's gaze shifted downwards, landing on Mu Chong's empty legs, and he reminded him: "Fasten your seatbelt."

Without another word, Wei Huan shifted his attention away from Mu Chong and glanced at the rearview mirror again.

He then moved his gaze back to the windshield, continuing to drive at maximum speed, while looking at the system projection.

He selected the "Supplies" option in the "Chat Room."

As his Challenger's backpack returned to the car, the list of supplies in the treasure chest appeared before his eyes.

[Obtained Eternal Gold Stone X1]

[Obtained Greedy Holy Scroll X1]

[Obtained Constitution Holy Scroll X1]

[Obtained Omniscient Holy Scroll X1]

[Obtained Arcane Crystal X1]

[Obtained Connection Crystal X1]

...

When he saw the first [Eternal Gold Stone], Wei Huan was already confused.

What was an Eternal Gold Stone? How had he never heard of it?

And the three Holy Scrolls and two Crystals that followed, he had, after all, lived until the destruction of Blue Star, how could he have no impression of these materials?

Then his gaze shifted further down.

[Obtained Six-Star Transcendent Potion X1]

Wei Huan's nostrils suddenly flared, and his pupils dilated.

!!??

He looked at the windshield again to confirm.

[Obtained Six-Star Transcendent Potion X1]

Six-Star Transcendent Potion?

"You just opened a Diamond Chest!?"

Wei Huan suddenly turned to look at Mu Chong, almost twisting his neck.

He met the gaze of the equally astonished man.

Then his expression changed dramatically.

Yes, that's right, he seemed to, perhaps, indeed, opened a diamond treasure chest.

No, no, no, platinum treasure chests are also white, perhaps he just, with very good luck, opened a high-level potion from a platinum treasure chest.

Tsk! What are you thinking, Wei Huan!! Even a platinum treasure chest would make you die of laughter!! That's a Six-Tier Potion! Six-Tier!!

In other words, he wouldn't need any advancement potions and could directly advance to level six. What was the level six profession for the Farmer Sequence? It was Soldier King!!

The Soldier King that all Farmer Sequencemembers were stuck at!!

If Great Xia, or Blue Star, had a Soldier King at that time, they wouldn't have lost the war against the alternate dimensions...

"What profession did you awaken?" Mu Chong's voice once again pulled Wei Huan back from his ecstatic, almost chaotic emotions.

Wei Huan stared at Mu Chong for two seconds, then came back to his senses and shook his head.

He hadn't had time to look.

Reminded, Wei Huan took two deep breaths, his thoughts settled, and he entered the Professional Temple.

The "Professional Temple," "Challenger's Backpack," and this car were all added to their bodies by a great existence, like loading data, after they entered the Challenge.

After obtaining a Transcendent Potion, the Challenger's "Professional Temple" opens, granting different initial sequence professions.

And training and advancement take place within it.

Taking the Farmer Sequence, which Wei Huanwas most familiar with, as an example.

Farmer → Warrior → True Soldier → Soldier King → Combat Master → Martial King → Martial Saint → Martial God → War God

It can also be said to be sequences 1 to 9, with the ultimate sequence for the Farmer being War God.

The gods unreasonablly dragged Blue Star into a dangerous Challenge, but they also gave humanity the ability to become gods, or at least to approach godhood.

All humans needed to do was continuously complete Challenges and obtain upgrade potions corresponding to their sequence.

As for learning about professions, they could do so by entering the "Professional Temple" for study and training after falling asleep.

The time difference between the "Professional Temple" and the outside world was 5:1, which was sufficient for humans.

Wei Huan entered the familiar "Professional Temple," and standing before him was a majestic, dark gate with a sense of profound weight.

He would push open the gate to reach the hall of the initial sequence, where he could learn relevant skills and applications.

"Creak..."

The sealed gate was pushed open, and unlike his memory, no light shone from the other side.

The front was a misty expanse, with darkness deep within the thick fog.

After taking a few steps, Wei Huan turned around and could no longer see the door behind him.

He understood in his heart.

There was a hint of a sigh, and also some anticipation and excitement.

Clearly, he had not awakened the Farmer Sequence that had accompanied him for over ten years in his previous life this time.

The Six-Star potion seemed to have given him a different profession.

If only it were a legendary profession.

Wei Huan was concerned about the vehicle currently driving outside, as well as the Earth Cave Beast chasing them, and dared not think too much.

He quickened his pace and walked deeper into the fog.

At least one thing was certain.

The purpose of the Professional Temple's existence was to grant them the ability to survive; even if the environment here looked eerie, no one had ever heard of anyone dying in the Professional Temple.

This place was safe.

It wasn't until a blurry, gigantic shadow appeared ahead, like a mountain range spanning before him, that Wei Huan's speed slowed down.

The dark shadow became clear, and Wei Huantilted his head back as far as it would go, speechless for a long time.

What appeared before him was a Great Tomb, a colossal tomb as vast as a mountain.

He stood on the edge of the graveyard and couldn't even see its end.

It was as if the entire world had turned into a graveyard.

The moment he clearly saw this graveyard, understanding dawned on him.

His profession had awakened.

He was a Gravekeeper.

A profession he had never heard of.

A controller existing between life and death.

He walked in the mortal world but spent his days with the dead, yet he could not cross that river of death.

The beings of the underworld adored his aura, were captivated by his charm, responded to his call, and gathered around him.

He stood amidst mountains of corpses and seas of blood; wherever his staff pointed, that was the sole direction of the undead plague.

...

As if to answer the phrase "adored his aura, were captivated by his charm," as Wei Huangazed at the tombs, the undead beings within the tombs also looked over.

Undead creaturess and Ghouls broke open the Great Tomb and crawled out from the dark ground.

Tens, hundreds, thousands, they quickly formed a continuous mass.

The black Great Tomb turned into a vast expanse of white, with some hideous Ghouls mixed in with the white.

As well as some larger, stronger undead beings.

As far as Wei Huan could see, he spotted the Undead creaturess of Earth Cave Beasts, their size no less than the one currently chasing them outside.

And on top of the tomb, there were Undead Knights riding Undead creatures horses; the Undead creatures horses reared up, letting out neighing sounds.

Deeper within the tomb, more terrifying undead beings also looked over.

Compared to the undead outside the tomb who were frantically responding to Wei Huan, the presences within the tomb observed him with more scrutiny.

Then they seemed to deem Wei Huan too weak, losing interest and shifting their gaze, no longer paying him any mind.

The undead beings outside the tomb clearly didn't have as many thoughts.

They looked at Wei Huan, longing for him to help them ignite the flames in their eyes.

Death flames were their only "ticket" to the mortal world.

Wei Huan's gaze shifted from the Undead creaturess and Ghouls, finally settling on the Earth Cave Beast.

The Earth Cave Beast's hollow eyes met his for three seconds, and Wei Huan regretfully knew that he was not yet qualified to summon the Earth Cave Beast.

The most basic Gravekeeper could only be accompanied by the lowest-level Undead creaturess.

Wei Huan was concerned about the changes outside, and his gaze landed on a complete, robust Undead creatures.

The other party shivered and stood up excitedly.

It was the Undead creatures of a wild beast.

On the Great Tomb, human-shaped Undead creaturess were rare.

This tomb he had excavated seemed to be a graveyard from an alternate dimension, so it was primarily filled with beasts.

But most of them had two heads, or six legs.

Multiple eyes and multiple legs were the main characteristics of monsters from alternate dimensions.

When it met Wei Huan's gaze, it was responding to Wei Huan's summons.

In its dark eye sockets, a spark was ignited, then instantly grew, and a green flame flickered.

Buzz!

Contract successful!

From today onwards, it could go to the mortal world!

It opened its hideous maw and roared silently!

After contracting three Undead creaturess, Wei Huan could no longer contract any more.

But this was not Wei Huan's limit; starting today, every night he would come to the Professional Temple to cultivate after falling asleep.

As his strength increased, he would be able to summon more undead creatures.

After one last look at the Great Tomb, feeling the intriguing auras and gazes from deep within the tomb, Wei Huan left the Professional Temple.

As soon as he came out, the light was dazzling.

Before he could clearly see, what Wei Huan felt first was someone pressing on him.

Blinking hard, Wei Huan said: "Thank you."

He then took the steering wheel from Mu Chong's hands.

"You were gone for a bit long."

Mu Chong, despite having no legs, moved swiftly, pushing lightly on the armrest to slide back into his original position.

"You're welcome, glad I could help you."

Then he looked at Wei Huan expectantly.

Mu Chong was not only powerful and famous, but also handsome in every sense of the word; even though his injuries made him appear particularly haggard, Wei Huan had to admit that Mu Chong, as the campus heartthrob of the Challenge Legion University, was truly worthy of the title.

So when he looked at Wei Huan with such expectant, wide eyes, Wei Huan, who had always believed he shouldn't be too high-profile, couldn't help but curve his lips into a smile.
