Third Person POV
"RISING FROM THE ASHES OF DEATH!"
The titan roared, his voice carrying through the ears of every living being within the next galaxy,
"I HAVE COME AGAIN TO QUENCH MY HUNGER! IT IS I... OMNIPOTUS!!!"
John's ultimate shadow was unveiled as purple energy vents flared across his ancient armor. The aura bleeding off him was so heavy it felt like gravity had suddenly doubled. A cold, hollow ache ripped through my chest and spread down my arms as John tasted copper in the back of his throat.
His knees buckled and hit the dirt hard.
'Everyone except Levy and Omnipotus; back in my shadow!' John forced the command through the mental link, grinding his teeth against the migraine spiking behind his eyes. 'Return!!'
Across the crater, the seventeen Evil Invincible variants vanished mid-laugh. Thokk paused his swing and melted away. They all sucked back into the darkness pooling at John's feet.
He needed every drop of energy possible.
'If I hadn't used the Senzu bean earlier maybe I would've had some energy to spare, but I couldn't afford a single leak, now that we were in the End Game.'
John thought as his nose started bleeding, hot drops splashing onto his jacket.
Nakime didn't ask if John was okay, or get worried like she usually did. She stepped in front of him, placing herself between his kneeling form and the cosmic horror tearing the sky apart. Her sleeves tore open as thick bone-whips extended from her forearms, weaving into a shifting cage around them.
She stood tall like an unyielding shield.
"Burn through all the money in the world if you have to, but I can't allow you to bleed anymore, John."
High above them, the Entity stopped its tantrum.
The blue tentacles paused their thrashing. The Entity's focus shifted away from the Coalition fleet and locked entirely onto the towering purple titan standing in the crater.
The Entity remembered Omnipotus. It recognized the signature of a world-shaper. But to see a reality-ending Devourer reduced to a shadowy husk, tethered to a sweating human on a dirt rock... the Entity was offended.
"YOUR AUDACITY KNOWS NO BOUNDS. EVEN A DEVOURER OF WORLDS CANNOT ESCAPE YOUR CHAOS?!" the Entity's voice boomed in thier skull, dripping with disgust. "PERVERTING THE NATURAL ORDER, HOARDING SOULS THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU, BINDING BEINGS OF GREAT POWER, THIS DISGRACE MUST END NOW!!"
John wiped a streak of blood from my nose with the back of his hand and forced himself to look up, his brain locking back into focus.
"You are Time," John whispered, the words scraping out of his dry throat. "He is Hunger."
Omnipotus didn't waste time with a witty comeback. He jumped.
CRACK-BOOM
The leap turned the rest of the mountain range into a crater as Omnipotus crossed the distance to the upper atmosphere in a blur. He slammed into one of the blue tentacles, wrapped his arms around the solid light, unhinged his jaw, and took a bite.
The Entity shrieked. But it didn't sound like pain, but more like baffled outrage.
It immediately retaliated. The blue light flared, washing over Omnipotus in a concentrated wave of temporal energy.
The Entity tried to age him. It poured a million years of decay directly into the shadow's armor, attempting to turn his form to dust.
Nothing happened.
The Entity shifted gears, trying to reverse his biological clock. It tried to regress him back to his original state, to undo my necromancy and erase his current form entirely.
Again, nothing happened.
Panicking, the Entity tried to freeze him. It tried to lock the titan in a temporal stasis field where seconds became eternity and simply ceased to exist.
Omnipotus didn't even notice. He ripped a chunk of blue energy out of the tentacle and chewed on it loudly.
"Interesting," Omnipotus rumbled. His voice echoed down from the stratosphere.
The Entity realized time did not work on the Devourer.
And it honestly made sense. Omnipotus wasn't really a physical being since the very beginning; he was a fundamental concept given form. You can't age an appetite of the dead, after all, nor can you rewind the concept of consuming. Time is a measurement, but hunger is a constant.
The Entity threw everything it could. It hit him with temporal deletion, trying to scrub his existence from the timeline. It hit him with future displacement, trying to throw him a billion years forward into the heat death of the universe.
All of it was useless.
"WHAT ARE YOU?!" the Entity roared.
Omnipotus swallowed his mouthful of light as his purple eyes locked onto the core of the shattered moon.
"Hungry."
Many miles away, floating above their own battlefield, Mark Grayson and Allen the Alien were watching the sky in deafening silence.
"Mark," Allen whispered, his single eye twitching. "What exactly is your friend doing?"
"I don't know, Allen!" Mark yelled, clutching his broken arm. "I never know. This is just what hanging out with him is like!"
Even Supermom, flying and dodging the entity's tentacles while keeping an injured Pepsiman cradled in her arms, had stopped smiling. She stared up at the cosmic brawl, slowly looking down at Pepsiman's agitating finger. "Don't you dare, Mister. Dean and Sam are waiting for you back home."
Seeing nothing work, the Entity changed its strategy.
If brute-forcing a being of hunger was impossible, it just needed a different angle. The Entity stopped looking at the Devourer.
Instead, it looked down the ethereal tether connecting the titan to reality.
It looked at John Kaisen.
"IF THE BEAST IS IMMUNE," the Entity's voice echoed with cold malice, "THE MASTER WILL BE UNWRITTEN."
It sure did like its little quips.
A concentrated beam of temporal erasure shot down from the sky. It completely bypassed Omnipotus, aiming straight at John's exhausted, kneeling body. It wasn't an attack meant to kill him physically but to scrub him off the timeline.
The Entity didn't seem to understand who was standing in front of John.
Nakime strummed the strings of her biwa.
"Mugen-jō: Dankai" Infinity Castle: Severed Realm, she screamed.
