Chapter 3 - The Rain That Changed Everything

The sky turned dark faster than usual.

By the time classes ended, heavy rain started pouring.

Students ran out, laughing, shouting, covering their heads—

But she stood near the gate, stuck.

"I didn't bring an umbrella…" she muttered.

"Of course you didn't."

She turned.

He was standing behind her.

"You again?" she said, trying to sound annoyed.

"You say that like you're unlucky," he replied.

Thunder echoed.

The rain got heavier.

Without saying anything more, he held her wrist lightly.

"Come."

"Wait—where are we going?"

"Unless you want to stand here all night," he said.

She didn't argue this time.

They ran together through the rain.

Within seconds—they were completely soaked.

Her hair stuck to her face, her clothes heavy with water.

They reached an empty shelter near the campus.

Both of them breathing fast.

"You're drenched," he said.

"So are you," she replied.

He stared at her for a moment.

Really looked at her.

Something about this moment felt different.

Quiet.

Close.

Dangerous.

She hugged herself slightly.

"It's cold…"

Without thinking, he took off his jacket and placed it on her shoulders.

She froze.

"You don't have to—"

"Just wear it," he said softly.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Rain hitting the roof.

Wind blowing inside.

And the space between them…

felt smaller than ever.

"Why are you being nice today?" she asked quietly.

He looked away for a second.

"I'm not nice."

She gave a small smile.

"You kind of are… right now."

He stepped closer.

Too close.

Her heart started racing again.

"You think you know me?" he said.

"I don't," she whispered.

"Then stop acting like you do."

Silence again.

But this time—it wasn't awkward.

It was… heavy.

Full of something unspoken.

She looked up at him.

Rainlight reflecting in her eyes.

"I'm not avoiding you," she said softly.

"Then why does it feel like you are?" he asked.

She didn't answer.

Because she didn't know.

Or maybe… she did.

A sudden loud thunder made her flinch.

Instinctively—she moved closer.

And without thinking—

He held her.

For a second… both of them froze.

Realizing what just happened.

But neither of them pulled away.

Her voice was barely a whisper.

"We shouldn't…"

"I know," he said.

But he didn't let go.

The rain kept falling.

And in that moment—

The line between hate and want…

felt like it was disappearing.
