Chapter 3 - She Didn't Cry

The day ended like it always did.

No one noticed anything different.

She completed her shift.

Logged out.

Said her usual goodbyes.

Calm.

Composed.

Unbothered.

At least...

that's how it looked.

The moment she stepped outside...

The noise faded.

The constant voices.

The urgency.

The pressure.

Replaced by something quieter.

Her thoughts.

She walked slower than usual.

Not because she was tired.

But because she didn't feel like rushing anymore.

Not today.

The words replayed in her head.

"If you can't handle it, someone else can."

She didn't reach back then.

But now...

it lingered.

Not as anger.

Not as sadness.

But as something heavier.

Truth.

Because deep down...

she knew.

It wasn't just about that moment.

It was everything.

The long hours.

The exhaustion.

The way she kept showing up

without ever asking herself if she wanted to.

The way she accepted things...

without questioning them.

She reached home.

The door closed behind her.

Silence.

The kind of silence

that doesn't comfort you.

Just remind you

of everything you've been avoiding.

She placed her bag down.

Sat on the edge of her bed.

And just...

stared.

No phone.

No distractions.

Just her.

And her thoughts.

She thought she would cry.

But she didn't

Because crying meant

she still had the energy to break.

And right now...

she felt... empty.

Not weak.

Not emotional.

Just tired.

Tired of doing the same things.

Tired of being the same version of herself.

Tired of living a life

that didn't feel like hers.

And for the first time...

she didn't push that feeling away.

She sat with it.

Let it stay.

Let it speak.

Because maybe...

it was tying to tell her something.

Something she had been avoiding

for a long time.

That this life...

wasn't enough anymore.
