Chapter 48 - Striking

Literally, there was no significant sign to know that the portal to another world had opened. The immortal realm seemed like an illusion, seemed no different from the human realm. It made it hard for humans to disguise the border.

The only sign was the air and the vibe. When the portal opened the air from the immortal realm blew away. It carried the freezing point, like a snow wind. But it didn't freeze the body.

For the vibe, when the sky seemed to be getting darker. It looked like the sun had disappeared from the earth.

Then, Ansel stepped through the border and arrived in the Immortal realm. This was his first time entering this mysterious and perilous world with his physical body.

Previously, only his spirit had ventured into the Immortal realm. It slipped through its veils unseen and untouched. Those spiritual journeys had happened several times before.

But this was different. This was real, tangible, and fraught with danger.

Almost immediately, Ansel was struck by the cold. A cold unlike anything he had ever experienced in the human realm. It was not merely a chill in the air. It was a biting, penetrating frost that seemed to seep into his bones.

No matter how many layers he wore, the cold pierced through flesh and muscle, settling deep within his core. It was a relentless winter that refused to relent. A cold that would cling to his body long after he left this place.

The sensation was numbing, a frozen shroud that dulled his senses and slowed his reactions. The vibe of the Immortal realm was a perilous, unforgiving environment. Its cold was a silent adversary as deadly as any foe.

As Ansel's eyes adjusted to the dim, ethereal light of the realm. He saw Fayfiend standing before him. The Fayfiend was injured. His wounds were still raw and unhealed.

A rare vulnerability in a being of such power. This was the opportunity Ansel had been waiting for, a chance to strike while his enemy was weakened.

Without hesitation, Ansel drew Viorenving. The sword was glowing faintly with the power of Rhea. He lunged forward, directing the blade toward Fayfiend with precision and determination.

Fayfiend managed to dodge the attack. Though his movements were slower and more labored than usual. The injury clearly hindered his agility, making it difficult for him to evade with his usual grace. In retaliation, Fayfiend swung a powerful blow at Ansel.

The strike sent Ansel bouncing back, the force of the hit reverberating through his body. Yet, despite the impact, Ansel felt no pain.

The coldness that enveloped him numbed his nerves, dulling the sensation of injury and discomfort. His body was hard, almost frozen, making it difficult to feel anything, especially the pain.

As Ansel regained his footing, his mind cleared, and a sudden realization struck him. He remembered his ability to control water crystals. A power he had yet to test in the Immortal realm. The thought sparked a new hope within him, a potential advantage in this frozen battlefield.

Determined, Ansel focused his energy, preparing to summon the water crystals and wield them against Fayfiend. The battle was far from over, and now, armed with this newfound resolve, Ansel was ready to turn the tide.

Because of the biting cold that permeated the Immortal realm. Ansel found it easier than ever to summon and shape his water crystal arrows.

The frigid environment was like a natural ally, amplifying his power over water and ice. He was lucky. This Fayfiend, the opponent before him, was skilled in combat but lacked mastery over elemental magic. This gave Ansel a crucial advantage.

However, despite the cold aiding his magic, Ansel could only create three crystal arrows at a time. His control over the water crystals was still developing.

He had not yet reached the level where he could summon dozens of arrows simultaneously. Each arrow required focus and energy, and he had to use them wisely.

With a steady hand, Ansel controlled the flying crystal arrows. He sent them streaking toward Fayfiend like shards of frozen light.

Fayfiend, caught off guard, was forced to concentrate on destroying the incoming projectiles. He crushed it into dust. He tried to show off that the crystal arrows were merely things for him.

Seizing the moment, Ansel charged forward with Viorenving drawn. As Fayfiend was too busy to shatter the crystal arrow, Ansel closed the distance and struck with precision. The blade of Viorenving connected sharply with Fayfiend's head.

A radiant light burst forth from the sword, illuminating the battlefield. Ansel knew instantly. It was Rhea, the Guardian Spirit, manifesting her power through Viorenving. The sword glowed with an intense energy.

With Rhea's power channeled into the weapon, Viorenving became a formidable force. The strike made Fayfiend stagger to the ground.

Every strike he made, bounced him, crashed him to the ground. But he took it as a good movement.

He took the next step. He sprinted toward the fallen Fayfiend, intent on finishing the fight. But Fayfiend was far from defeated. Summoning his remaining strength, he grabbed hold of Viorenving. With a powerful heave, he threw both the sword and Ansel aside.

In that instant, a brilliant light erupted from Viorenving. Rhea emerged from the sword, her form expanding and growing larger than before. Her majestic wings unfurled, catching Ansel mid-air and cushioning his fall.

Fayfiend, undeterred, charged once more toward Ansel. But this time, he was met with a formidable barrier. Rhea's expansive wings spread wide, blocking his path with unwavering resolve.

Fayfiend kept punching Rhea's wings. And Rhea stayed still. She endured every

Strike.

What Rhea did made Ansel stunned. He was frightened. He knew he must do something, before everything gonna be worse.

He knew the reason why Rhea was staying still. If she made a move, the Fayfiend would ignore her completely. The Fayfiend would target Ansel first.

With a surge of determination, he emerged from within Rhea's protective form, ready to strike again. He stared at Fayfiend, aiming for Viorenving at the very spot where Fayfiend had previously injured the sword.

It was right there in the back.

Steadfast, he pierced deep into Fayfiend's body, eliciting a roar of pain and fury. The Immortal's face twisted with rage as he retaliated fiercely, striking both Ansel and Rhea with brutal force again. The impact sent them crashing to the ground.

Meanwhile, Fayfiend struggled to free Viorenving from his back, his focus split between pain and desperation. But the battle was far from over.
