Chapter 93 - Unnamed Place

Heka knew the perils that lurked in the wild grassland. Maybe there were the unseen threats that could strike without warning. Notwithstanding, he was vulnerable, but Waylinn's protective instincts flared fiercely.

But Heka was persistent He had to prove to himself that he was not just a burden. He could stand on his own two feet, even if only for a moment.

As Waylinn slowed his pace, the chimera's powerful muscles aching from exhaustion, Heka seized the chance. Carefully, he slid down from Waylinn's broad back. His legs trembled but determined.

"Heka, what are you doing?" Waylinn's voice was sharp, tinged with worry.

"I just want to walk." Heka said. His voice was steady despite the fear gnawing at him.

"I warn you, it's dangerous." Waylinn scolded. His eyes scanned the grassland for any sign of threat.

Heka took a tentative step forward. Then another sense of the soft earth beneath his feet. Each movement was a small victory. It reclaimed of his own strength and will.

Though the path ahead was uncertain and fraught with danger. For the first time in a long while, Heka felt a flicker of hope. A spark that maybe, just maybe, he could face the challenges ahead without being a burden to those who cared for him.

Heka just smiled softly, a gentle warmth spreading across his face. He reached out and petted Waylinn's head. He sensed the coarse fur beneath his fingers, a comforting connection between them. Then he shifted his gaze forward. His eyes were bright with quiet confidence.

"I'm fine. Look!! It's safe. There's no danger here." Heka said. His voice was steady and calm as he took a step forward.

"My back is stinging from sitting along the way. So I want to walk for a while. Is it okay?" Heka admitted with a small laugh.

Waylinn didn't answer immediately. Instead, he simply walked behind him. His chimera figure moved with cautious grace, ever watchful.

Curiosity bubbled up inside Heka as they moved through the vast grassland. He asked, glancing back at the chimera. "Waylinn, what is this place?"

Waylinn's eyes met his, calm and steady. He said quietly. "No name, it's just a grassland, a border."

Heka's gaze dropped to the ground beneath his feet. Each step he took was met with a surprising sparkle. The grass seemed alive with tiny bursts of light. It was like miniature fireworks igniting softly with every footfall.

The warmth radiated gently through the soles of his feet. A subtle magic that made the grassland feel alive and welcoming.

Somehow he paused for a moment. He marveled at the delicate beauty beneath him. It was a stark contrast to the dangers they had faced and those still to come.

Waylinn's voice broke the silence again, steady and somber. "After this, we will pass the Nauvichsa. It's a place where many living beings have fled, seeking safety. But beyond that lies the Dorniphus Woods. It was a creepy, tangled place filled with sharp thorns and shadows."

Heka swallowed hard. The weight of the journey ahead settled in his chest. Yet, for now, in this quiet borderland, he allowed himself a brief moment of peace. He delighted in every moment of sparkling grass.

"I see. The journey is still long." Heka said thoughtfully. His eyes scanned the endless grassland stretching before them. The weight of their quest settled heavily on his shoulders. From beneath, it lay a spark of anticipation.

"Maybe, you will meet another human there." Waylinn said. His voice was low and cautious.

"Human???" Heka's excitement bubbled up instantly. His mind raced with images of these mysterious humans. Humans in the immortal realm, this was beyond anything he had ever imagined.

"Another human like me? Here? In this realm?" Heka asked. His eyes widened with wonder.

"Yeah, but they are not ordinary humans, not as weak as you. They are wizards." Waylinn replied, his gaze steady.

The word "wizards" hung in the air like an eerie promise. It was filled with magic and mystery. Heka's heart was quickened.

"I'm so excited. I want to meet them soon." Heka said eagerly. His voice was bright with hope.

Waylinn chuckled softly, knowing the glint in his eyes. He said, his tone was playful but firm. "So, ride on my back. Sooner is better."

But beneath the lightness of his words, there was a hidden truth. Waylinn was not entirely sure what kind of welcome awaited them.

Yes, there were humans, and wizards were living in this immortal realm. But their hearts and intentions were unknown.

They might be kind and helpful, or they might be wary and hostile. The immortal realm was a place of wonders and dangers alike. The trust was a fragile thing.

Heka who was unaware of the uncertainty that shadowed Waylinn's words, climbed back onto the chimera's broad back with renewed enthusiasm. The promise of meeting wizards filled him with hope and courage. It became a beacon to guide them through the long journey still ahead.

They moved forward. The unnamed grassland faded behind them as they pressed toward the unknown, toward the realm of enchantment and mystery where humans and wizards awaited.

But it was not a big deal. As long as Heka was beside him, Waylinn felt certain that he would be safe. The bond between them was unbreakable, a silent promise of protection and trust.

Heka was perched firmly on Waylinn's broad back. His hands gripped the thick fur tightly. The chimera's powerful muscles tensed beneath him, ready to surge forward.

"Heka, hold tightly. I will run faster." Waylinn said. His voice was steady and commanding.

"Okay." Heka replied without hesitation. He did exactly as Waylinn instructed.

With a sudden burst of energy, Waylinn accelerated, his legs pounding the terrain with incredible speed. The wind whipped past them. It carried the scents of wildflowers and fresh grass.

This time, Heka didn't close his eyes. Instead, he opened them wide, determined to take in every detail of the journey.

The landscape breathtakingly unfolded before him. The grassland was not only sparkling with tiny bursts of light beneath their feet. It was also moistened with a delicate sheen, as if kissed by a gentle rain.

It reminded him of the Shreiga River's mysterious uprising of rain. But here, the enchantment was different. Wherever Waylinn's paws touched the ground, a shimmering rainbow arched gracefully along their path, painting the air with vibrant colors.

It was as if the very earth celebrated their passage, weaving light and color into the fabric of the grassland.

Heka's gaze flicked back occasionally. He looked at the sparkling, moist grass ripple in the breeze. The beauty of the place filled him with awe and a renewed sense of hope.

Despite the dangers they had faced and those still ahead, this moment was a reminder that magic and wonder still existed in their world.

And together, they raced across the enchanted grassland. The rainbow-lit path guiding them forward toward the next chapter of their journey.
