Chapter 108 - Chapter 108: The Unfathomable Miss Silver Crow (2/3)

Syl's expression looked a bit reluctant, just like an occasionally willful young girl.

"I really can't do anything with you..." Sharon shook her head with a smile, walked to Syl's side, handed her an umbrella, and said, "Then have a good time today, though it looks like it's going to rain... If anything comes up, come find me in my study."

After saying that, Sharon slightly raised the scepter in her hand. A white ring of light flashed from the bottom up, and Sharon's figure teleported away.

Syl had a smile on her face and a light step. It wasn't until she reached a street corner that she slowed down, and the smile on her face instantly vanished.

Syl walked silently along the familiar riverbank, looked at the umbrella in her hand, and casually placed it beside a vendor's stall.

When the umbrella was eventually discovered, it would probably be taken away; after all, there were no church markings on it.

Syl didn't know if the umbrella had been tampered with, so she certainly couldn't take it with her.

Syl reached into her robe, pulled on the watch chain, took out her pocket watch, and checked the time.

"Twelve o'clock... two hours until the Salon begins."

Syl walked all the way along the river. When she passed a bakery, she went in and bought a few loaves of bread, wrapped them in a paper bag, and ate while she walked.

After Syl finished eating, she turned directly into an alley, sidestepped someone about to leave the alley, casually folded the paper bag in her hand, and threw it onto a nearby trash heap.

There was no such thing as a trash can on the streets of Suramar; people just threw trash where there already seemed to be a lot of it, which was considered "civilized."

Syl made several turns within the alleyway until she reached a place where no one was around before she stopped.

"Physician."

"Casanova."

"Physician."

Through a round of rapid transformations, Syl transferred the materials from the Physician to the Casanova. As long as she hadn't found a suitable base, she had to endure this process of moving her collection.

Fortunately, there was no CD on the transformation, which was the only thing Syl felt lucky about.

Adjusting the plague doctor mask on her face, Syl began walking toward Arnos Exquisite Tailor Shop on Sule Street, arriving at the scene half an hour early.

"Miss Silver Crow!" As soon as Syl pushed the door open, Arno stood up and said in surprise, "I thought you weren't coming."

Kersus, lying on the table, also stretched and gave Syl a "meow" as a greeting.

"Why wouldn't I come? I still have the final payment to collect... and my clothes." Syl shrugged.

"Oh right, the clothes."

Arno seemed to remember something and walked toward the cabinet in the back.

After Arno had his maid sew Miss Silver Crow's clothes, they had been hanging in the shop's wardrobe. Since Syl hadn't come to pick them up for so long, Arno had almost forgotten about it.

"Here, your clothes." Arno put the folded clothes into a bag and then took out a row of reagents. "And the wine... I picked the ones with the highest proof to put in."

"Thank you." Syl nodded, stuffed the row of reagents into the paper bag, and then headed toward the stairs carrying the bag.

In fact, in Suramar, which lacked distillation technology, no matter how high the proof of the wine was, it didn't actually have much of a sterilizing effect.

At most, it smelled a bit better than plain water, or it could be used to numb a patient with alcohol so they wouldn't suffer as much.

"You go up and wait first; I'll come up when the time is right."

Seeing Miss Silver Crow go up so familiarly, Arno felt a sense of joy. This meant that future Salons would likely continue to have one more powerful and mysterious Transcendent.

This was a huge help to the activity of a secret gathering, because a mysterious powerhouse meant she could provide materials others might not be able to get, or complete tasks others wouldn't dare take on.

Syl didn't care what Arno was thinking. She was currently wondering if she should take the bounty and run. With this final payment, the currency in Syl's hands reached a staggering 7,000.

This was a significant amount of savings, a figure that most of the middle class wouldn't reach even after seven or eight lifetimes of struggle.

After Syl passed through the magical barrier used for isolation, she arrived at the banquet hall.

Originally, Syl wanted to find a corner to sit down and rest with her eyes closed, but she found that someone had actually arrived even earlier than she had.

It was a young girl wearing a monster mask.

"Miss Silver Crow!"

Upon seeing Syl enter, the girl seemed somewhat excited.

She had completely lost the air of feigned profundity from their first meeting.

"Hello." Syl nodded slightly and walked toward Little Monster.

"Miss Silver Crow," Little Monster didn't sit down until Syl was seated. She looked at Syl and continued, "May I ask, cough... cough-ee..."

Likely due to being too nervous, Little Monster choked on her own saliva and made a strange sound.

Although she couldn't see Little Monster's current expression, Syl noticed that the base of the girl's neck had turned red.

"Ahem..." Pretending not to notice Little Monster's recent embarrassment, Syl asked, "Are you going to ask about Hope?"

"Uh... yes, yes, that's right." Little Monster was stunned for a moment before nodding repeatedly.

It didn't seem like she was going to ask that at first.

But Syl still leaned forward slightly and lowered her voice: "In fact, her information is quite easy to obtain."

Syl's movement piqued Little Monster's curiosity. She mimicked Syl, leaning forward slightly; the two of them looked like underground agents meeting... even though they were the only two in the banquet hall right now.

"Sil·Saint, 16 years old, lives at 1 White Rose District, Church of Hope, unmarried..."

"Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, returns to the Church punctually before ten at night, sleeps eight to nine hours a day... People in the Church all say she is very normal..."

"Recently active in the Ibiza District, her goal is to digest the [lamb] Holy Medicine by helping the people of Ibiza. She seems to be finishing the digestion recently and hasn't come out for several days."

"People she has met these past few days include the Saintess of Justice and the Saintess of Wisdom; her social activities are limited to these few people. That's all I can say for now."

At this point, Syl stopped and looked at Little Monster.

Little Monster's mouth under the mask was open wide enough to fit an egg... What kind of investigation was this? You must be living and eating with the Saintess of Hope, right? Otherwise, how could you know such details?

And... "that's all I can say"? Does she know even more secret things about the Saintess of Hope?

"An excellent investigation... To be honest, even investigating the social circle so clearly is too surprising." Little Monster readily pulled out a check and said, "This is your currency."

"You're welcome." Syl smiled slightly and accepted the check, then revealed her purpose... The organization behind Little Monster really was starting to want to contact the "organization" behind her.

After taking the check, Syl casually remarked, "It's just earning some extra pocket money. Actually, I'm quite curious why you are also investigating the Saintess of Hope."

"But I don't have enough clearance to read your organization's information... so I'll just say it's pure curiosity."

Syl's words sounded like a casual lament, but they made Little Monster break out in a cold sweat.

"Also?"

"Don't have enough clearance to read your organization's information... They have data on our organization?"

This amount of information made Little Monster lick her lips, her mouth feeling a bit dry.

One could only say it was lucky that the Hermit lords' instructions were to win over Miss Silver Crow... otherwise, Little Monster would have felt like running away right now.
