I glanced up from where I was stroking Molly's fur to find Jess in a heated argument with Sean across the field. She had shifted back from her wolf and was standing there with absolutely nothing on, which I was grateful about when someone finally threw a dress in her direction. She had been beaten again, this time in the semi-final, her wolf finishing in fourth place overall.
"Nova cannot shift on medical grounds," Sean stated, crossing his arms firmly across his chest.
Jess scoffed and aimed her glare straight at me. "That is just an excuse. She can barely hold herself up in a fight. She probably cannot even shift!"
Cel bristled under my skin at the open disrespect, and I felt the irritation moving through me like a slow burn.
"Lower your voice, trainee. You have no right to speak about another member's health," Sean growled, his tone dropping to something dangerous.
She laughed, sharp and dismissive. "Oh please. What health issues? She is perfectly fine!"
