His voice was gentle in the quiet room and I appreciated the comfort of it. I turned my head away from staring at the bedsheets and looked up at his face. He had about five chins from this angle, which made me feel slightly better about everything, but his expression was full of genuine concern.
I sighed and licked my dry lips. "After I shifted I just ran and he chased me. It was the only thing I could think to do in that moment."
He smiled softly. "I wanted to come after you."
"I ran for a while," I continued. "I crossed border territory without realising it. A rogue came out of nowhere and attacked me, got a good swipe in before I could react."
He sat us both upright immediately, eyes wide. "Are you okay? Where did it get you?"
"I am fine," I said quickly. "Phoenix came and killed it."
He grimaced. "Good, I suppose. At least you are okay. Is it healing properly? Rogues are filthy, it could get infected."
