The story begin with Albert, a humble young man from farmers in the old time in year 1909. Albert was walking angry, his brown eyes full of anger and he wear old farmer clothes like all normal people. Albert was angry from the boss after he got fired because of problem with one of the customers.
He try to think where he will sleep today because the work place was the only place he sleep in. Suddenly his eyes see a news at the newspaper shop about an old abandoned lighthouse need a worker. He stop and take the newspaper and read the news and what inside it (The abandoned lighthouse Houston Proud return to work after 6 years by decision from the state because of problems happening to ships in that sea place. The state is looking for a young worker to live there with monthly salary)
Albert look at the salary and get shocked from the number. He take the newspaper and run fast to the place of apply. He arrive very fast and he breathing hard trying to calm himself and breath one by one. He go inside and find a woman taking information from people who apply. He go to her after the man before him finish. The woman call Albert to enter. Albert go to her and sit and extend his dirty hand from work (Hello I am Albert).
The woman look at him with strange eyes and her face little arrogant. Albert get nervous and pull his hand back (Sorry I am just excited). She look at him carefully with pride in her eyes (Hello Albert you want to apply for lighthouse job because there is no other job now). Albert answer fast (Yes I come to apply for lighthouse job I saw the news in newspaper and come fast). She ask Albert with medium cold voice (Albert why you want this job). Albert answer fast (Because I got fired and I want a job with place to sleep).
She look at him again but Albert speak (Your name is Maria right). She answer (Yes I am Maria don't care much I will register you now in the job list). She take paper and write Albert name with ink pen on the table and say (Ok Albert the interview finish you can go). Albert get surprised and say (This fast). Maria answer (Yes because not many people apply for this job because it is dangerous place so no need many questions you can leave). Albert nod his head (Ok thank you). Maria answer (You welcome). Albert go out while looking at Maria with eyes of admiration. He stop at the door and his dirty hands touch his waist (Ahhh I think I fall in love). Albert smile and walk away and then he find a place to sleep.
After 3 days Albert spend 3 days going back to the office more than one time in the day. In the third day Albert go again to the place of apply. He go to the mail man and stand near him (Hello maybee for the fifth time). The mail man look at him with fat face glasses and thick white mustache and beard like old men and shake his head (Sixth). Albert laugh (Ooooh I don't count good). The man put his head down to the papers with his ink pen (What you want Albert). Albert answer (Hmm why you ask you know why I come). The man sigh (Ok I will see if you get accepted in the letters).
He bend down to the shelf of letters. Albert wait and feel fear from rejection or no answer because he don't want to sleep in the street again. Then he look at Maria while she talking with other men. Suddenly her eyes meet his eyes. Albert quickly look away and return his head to the man. Then he hear the man voice (Ooooh this is it). The man come up from under the table (This is your letter from work center to Albert take it). Albert feel happy but also fear from rejection. He take the letter and open it slowly and read slowly. Suddenly Albert jump from happiness (Yessss this is what I want I get accepted man). The man look at him (Oh congrats now you don't need to come again go out). Albert laugh (As you want man this is best day in my life). He go out and his eyes go again to Maria and he stop at the door (Ahhh I must go to Louis port now to sail there).
Scene change to Louis port where Albert wait in his place dirty and dusty. He hear a man shouting (Where is lighthouse men). Albert stand fast and run to him and reach him fast holding the letter (Here sir). The man look at him and feel little surprise from his energy. Then two other men come. Suddenly Albert remember that they must be three men like what office say. They introduce themself with letters in their hands. The man tell them to walk with him. They walk together until they reach a small boat fit for three people.
The man speak (You will row now to the lighthouse by yourself be careful from the way). One of the men speak (Sir how we go in this small boat at sunset why not go by ship and then row from there we will reach faster). The man answer (No trip today you must go now because there is a ship coming and you must change the lamp to make the light clear so the ship arrive safe). The men feel upset including Albert but they need the job they have no choice.
They get in the boat and start rowing to the lighthouse. In the way the sun start to disappear slowly. One man speak while the sea start to move strong (Maybe we should row faster now the sea start to become strong I think storm coming). Albert stay silent he don't know what to say but the other man speak (Row faster then I feel bad about this). The sea become stronger and the boat move violently. One man shout (We will fall be careful). The boat shake hard and Albert heart start beating with fear.
Suddenly without warning Albert faint in the boat and everyhing become dark and the sound slowly disappear and he hear one of the men shouting (Albert Alberttt Alb... ).
