Chapter 1 - Married to the Man Who Loved My Sister

Episode 1:

The Wedding Night Truth

The sound of bangles clinking softly filled the quiet room.

Ananya sat on the edge of the beautifully decorated bed, her heart pounding so loudly she could hear it in her ears. The room was glowing with warm lights, roses spread across the sheets, jasmine hanging from the ceiling—everything looked perfect.

Everything except her.

Her hands trembled as she tightly held the edge of her saree. Just a few hours ago, she had become someone's wife. The rituals, the guests, the smiles—it all happened so fast.

Too fast.

This wasn't how she imagined her wedding night.

She had always dreamed of this moment—soft conversations, shy smiles, a gentle beginning to a lifelong story.

But reality felt… heavy.

Uncertain.

The silence in the room wasn't comforting—it was suffocating.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps outside.

Her breath hitched.

He was here.

The door slowly opened.

Arjun walked in.

Tall. Calm. Expressionless.

He didn't look at her.

Not even once.

He quietly closed the door behind him and walked toward the window, loosening his collar as if this whole situation annoyed him.

Ananya stood up slowly, gathering courage.

"I… I brought some water," she said softly, her voice barely audible.

No response.

She swallowed nervously and took a small step forward.

"I know today was tiring… you must be—"

"Stop."

His voice cut through her words like a blade.

Cold. Sharp. Final.

She froze.

Her fingers tightened around the glass she was holding.

Something wasn't right.

She could feel it.

He turned around slowly.

For the first time, their eyes met.

But there was no warmth in his gaze.

No affection.

Only something she couldn't understand.

Pain… mixed with anger.

"You don't have to pretend," he said.

Her brows furrowed in confusion.

"Pretend…?"

A bitter smile appeared on his lips.

"This perfect wife act," he continued. "You don't need to do it."

Her heart sank.

"I'm not pretending," she said, her voice shaking slightly. "I just thought—"

"You thought this was a normal marriage?" he interrupted.

The glass slipped slightly in her hand.

"I… yes," she whispered.

He laughed softly.

Not happily.

Mockingly.

"That's your first mistake."

Her chest tightened.

The room suddenly felt smaller.

"What do you mean?" she asked, fear creeping into her voice.

Arjun walked closer.

Each step felt heavy.

Dangerous.

"This marriage," he said, his eyes locking onto hers, "means nothing to me."

The words hit her like a storm.

Her lips parted, but no words came out.

"I didn't want this," he continued.

Ananya felt her throat dry up.

Her heart was beating uncontrollably now.

"Then… why did you agree?" she managed to ask.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Just stared at her.

Then, very calmly, he spoke.

"I didn't agree."

Her mind went blank.

"What…?"

"It was decided for me," he said. "Just like everything else in my life."

Ananya felt a strange uneasiness settle inside her.

Something deeper was hidden here.

Something painful.

But before she could understand it…

He said the one thing that shattered her completely.

"I loved your sister."

Time stopped.

Her breath caught in her throat.

The glass slipped from her hand, falling onto the floor with a sharp sound.

But she didn't even flinch.

Her ears rang.

Her vision blurred.

"What… did you say?" she whispered, her voice barely there.

"I loved your sister," he repeated, his tone emotionless.

Her entire world collapsed in that moment.

Her sister.

Her own sister.

The person she trusted the most.

The person she loved the most.

"No… that's not possible," Ananya shook her head, stepping back. "She never told me anything…"

"She didn't have to," he said coldly.

Tears filled her eyes instantly.

"Then why… why am I here?" she cried.

"Because she refused," he replied.

The words hit harder than anything else.

Refused.

Her sister refused him.

And somehow… she became the replacement?

"I was never supposed to marry you," he continued.

Each sentence felt like a dagger.

"You were just… the next option."

Ananya felt her knees weaken.

She held onto the edge of the bed to keep herself from falling.

This wasn't happening.

This couldn't be real.

"I still love her," Arjun said quietly.

Silence.

Heavy.

Unbearable silence.

Tears rolled down Ananya's cheeks uncontrollably.

She didn't try to stop them.

She couldn't.

Every dream she had built about this marriage… shattered in seconds.

But something inside her broke even more when she noticed one thing.

The way he said it.

"I still love her."

Not past tense.

Present.

That meant…

She was just living in someone else's love story.

And she didn't even belong in it.

Ananya slowly looked up at him, her eyes filled with pain.

"Then what am I to you?" she asked.

He didn't answer immediately.

Just looked at her.

And for a brief second… something flickered in his eyes.

Something human.

But it disappeared just as quickly.

"You are my responsibility," he said finally.

Not his love.

Not his partner.

Just… responsibility.

Her heart broke all over again.

But before she could say anything—

A phone rang.

Arjun's phone.

He glanced at the screen.

And something changed in his expression.

For the first time since he entered the room…

Emotion appeared.

Urgency.

He picked up the call immediately.

"Hello?"

Ananya watched him, confused and hurt.

His face suddenly turned pale.

"What?!" he said, his voice filled with shock.

Her heart skipped.

"What happened?" she asked instinctively.

He didn't respond.

Just stared ahead, gripping his phone tightly.

Then, slowly… he looked at her.

And what he said next froze her completely—

"It's your sister."
