Synopsis
When a mysterious black domain engulfs a high school, a group of students becomes trapped inside a distorted, maze-like version of their own campus. Cut off from the outside world, they soon discover that something is hunting them—creatures that move in the shadows, follow sound, and sometimes imitate humans. As fear spreads and trust begins to break, the students form teams to search for a way out. But with shifting hallways, hidden dangers, and their own fears turning against them, survival becomes their only goal. In this place, one mistake can cost a life… and not everyone who returns is human.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Day the Sky Turned Black

Chapter 1: The Day the Sky Turned Black

Morning sunlight slipped through the thin curtains, landing right on Han Ji-hoon's face like it had a personal grudge.

"Five more minutes…" he groaned, pulling the blanket over his head.

"WAKE UP, YOU LAZY IDIOT!"

The blanket was yanked away violently.

Ji-hoon blinked, squinting at the culprit. "Seo-yeon… do you have a death wish this early in the morning?"

His younger sister stood there with her hands on her hips, looking way too energetic for 7 a.m.

"You said that yesterday. And the day before that. And guess what?" she smirked. "You were late. Again."

Ji-hoon sat up, rubbing his eyes. "That's because you keep disturbing my sleep cycle."

"Oh wow," she clapped slowly. "Blaming me for your failure in life. Amazing."

From the doorway, their father chuckled. "Seo-yeon has a point."

Ji-hoon turned, offended. "Dad, you're supposed to be on my side."

"I'm on the side of responsibility," his father said calmly, sipping his coffee. "Something you should try sometime."

"Wow. Betrayal in my own house."

Seo-yeon grinned. "Cry about it."

Ji-hoon grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. She dodged easily.

"Missed."

"Stay still and let me hit you!"

"Make me!"

Their usual morning chaos echoed through the house—until Ji-hoon casually glanced at the clock.

…8:32 AM.

Silence.

Then—

"WAIT—WHAT?!"

He jumped out of bed so fast he nearly tripped over himself.

"I'M LATE!"

"No way," Seo-yeon said, pretending to be shocked. "That's so unexpected."

Ji-hoon rushed to get ready at lightning speed, brushing his teeth while hopping into his uniform.

"You're unbelievable," his father muttered, shaking his head.

"Love you too!" Ji-hoon yelled, sprinting out of the house.

Outside, the morning air was cool—but something felt… off.

"Finally decided to show up?"

Ji-hoon froze.

Leaning against the gate, arms crossed, was Yoo Min-seo.

Her expression? Pure disappointment.

"Oh," Ji-hoon said casually, trying to catch his breath. "You've been here long?"

"Long enough to watch three people pass by, two dogs fight, and one old man judge your entire existence."

"Sounds productive."

She walked up to him and flicked his forehead.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"For being late. Again."

Ji-hoon rubbed his forehead. "Violence isn't the answer."

"It is when you're involved."

Seo-yeon stepped out of the house, adjusting her bag. "You two done flirting?"

Both of them froze.

"We're not—!" they said in sync.

Seo-yeon smirked. "Sure."

"Just walk," Ji-hoon muttered.

The three of them made their way through the streets, their usual routine unfolding—but something in the atmosphere felt heavier.

As they approached the school gate, a crowd had gathered near a large screen.

"Hey… what's going on?" Seo-yeon asked.

"News," someone muttered.

The screen displayed urgent footage—dark, swirling masses covering parts of the city.

A reporter's voice trembled slightly.

"…these phenomena, now referred to as 'Black Domains,' have continued appearing randomly across South Korea over the past month…"

The screen cut to military footage.

Soldiers entering a massive black sphere.

The video glitched.

Then—nothing.

"…contact was lost shortly after entry. No survivors have been confirmed."

Whispers spread through the students.

"What is that…?"

"They're saying it's dangerous…"

"…like, no one comes back?"

Ji-hoon frowned slightly. "Looks like some kind of sci-fi movie."

Min-seo didn't laugh.

"…Ji-hoon," she said quietly. "This doesn't feel normal."

Before he could respond—

The sky dimmed.

Not gradually.

Instantly.

As if someone had flipped a switch.

Everyone froze.

"What…?"

A low, humming sound filled the air.

Then—

Darkness.

A massive black dome swallowed the entire school.

Screams erupted.

Inside the classroom, chaos exploded.

"What just happened?!"

"Is this one of those domains?!"

"No way—no way—!"

Ji-hoon stood still, his heartbeat loud in his ears.

"…Min-seo."

"I'm here," she said, gripping his sleeve.

Even Seo-yeon, who had come running from her class, clung to the doorway, pale.

"I don't like this…"

A boy suddenly broke down.

"W-we're going to die…!" he cried. "What if there are monsters in here?! What if they kill us?!"

"Hey, calm down!" someone said.

"It'll be fine!"

"Don't say things like that!"

But the fear had already spread.

Like poison.

Mr. Kang slammed his hand on the desk.

"Everyone, quiet!"

The room fell silent.

"I'll go check what's happening outside," he said firmly. "Stay here. Do not leave the classroom."

"Sir, that's dangerous—" someone started.

"I'm your teacher," he said. "It's my responsibility."

He walked toward the door.

Every step echoed.

The hallway beyond was… silent.

Too silent.

Ji-hoon felt something crawl up his spine.

"…Sir, wait—"

Mr. Kang stepped outside.

For a second—

Nothing happened.

Then—

A sound.

Wet.

Sharp.

Something moved.

And before anyone could react—

A massive, grotesque figure lunged from the darkness.

A blur.

A scream cut short.

And in the next instant—

Mr. Kang's body collapsed.

His head… gone.

Blood splattered across the hallway walls.

For a moment—

No one moved.

No one breathed.

Then—

Screaming.

Pure, uncontrollable terror.

Ji-hoon couldn't look away.

His mind refused to process what he just saw.

Min-seo's grip tightened.

Seo-yeon covered her mouth, shaking.

"W-what… what was that…?" someone whispered.

A quiet voice spoke from the back.

"…It's because of the domain."

Everyone turned.

Lee Do-hyun stood there.

Silent. Expressionless.

"The black domains," he continued, "are isolated spaces. Once you're inside… you can't leave."

The room fell into a tense silence.

"They create entities based on human fear," he said calmly. "The more afraid you are… the stronger they become."

"…What?" Ji-hoon muttered.

"No way…"

"That's insane…"

"It's already been happening for a month," Do-hyun said. "The military entered some of them."

"And never came back."

Fear tightened its grip on the room.

"…So we're trapped?" someone asked.

No answer.

Just silence.

Then—

A voice cut through the panic.

"We're not dying here."

Park Ji-min stepped forward.

His voice was steady—but firm.

"Panicking won't help anyone," he said, scanning the room. "If what he said is true, then fear is exactly what we shouldn't give in to."

"…Easy for you to say," someone muttered.

Ji-min didn't react.

"We stay together," he continued. "No one leaves alone."

He looked toward the door.

"…We wait. Just for a while. Then we move and find a way out."

The room was still trembling with fear.

But his words… grounded them.

Slowly—

One by one—

Heads nodded.

"…Okay."

"…We stay together."

"…We can do this…"

Ji-hoon exhaled slowly.

This wasn't a joke.

This wasn't a dream.

This was real.

And outside that door—

Something was waiting.

Watching.

The air in the classroom felt suffocating, heavy with fear no one could escape.

No one spoke.

No one moved.

Only the sound of uneven breathing filled the room.

Ji-hoon's eyes slowly drifted toward the blood-stained doorway… his mind replaying the scene again and again.

That instant.

That monster.

That death.

His fists clenched.

And then, the truth settled in—cold and absolute.

That was the moment we understood…

this wasn't a warning.

This was a death sentence.
