Chapter 91 - 91

Chapter 91 The More the Merrier

Bai Tang and her group arrived at the base's service center, which was always crowded.

It's too hot now. There used to be trees growing in the base, but during the extreme cold, most of them were cut down by the people at the base for firewood to keep warm.

So there are no shady spots on the roads in the base right now, and even if there are a few trees, their branches and leaves haven't grown yet.

The extreme heat came too suddenly, and the heat waves in the air were overwhelming, making people irritable and easily angered.

Recently, many people at the base have gotten into arguments and fights because of the heat.

Those whose actions were serious were forced to do hard labor, while those whose actions were less serious were penalized with contribution points so that they would behave themselves.

After parking their car, Bai Tang and his group walked into the service center lobby, which was also unbearably hot inside.

In just a short while, beads of sweat had already appeared on Bai Tang's forehead; she was truly more afraid of heat than cold.

Fortunately, the base was originally a tourist attraction used to escape the summer heat, so it still serves some purpose now.

They went to the task panel to see if there were any suitable tasks they could take on, hoping to earn more contribution points.

In any case, contribution points are universal across all official bases, so the more the better.

The group glanced at the tasks on the panel; most of them were small tasks posted by ordinary people.

For example, tasks such as helping to deal with indoor cooking fumes and ventilation problems, or hiring manual laborers, etc.

The official tasks assigned by the base are not performed by professionals; the base needs skilled personnel with medical expertise.

Although Bai Tang and the others knew a little about medicine, they weren't professionals, so they didn't take on the task.

"Sigh." Bai Jiyang sighed.

"There are no more missions we can take on, and we can't go out right now."

Lin Fan: "It's so hot, it's really awful."

As the two of them were complaining, they saw that the staff at the service center had added a new task:

I urgently need ten boxes of insulin (50,000 contribution points), within 24 hours.

Looking at this task, Bai Tang felt like she'd been given a pillow just in time to fall asleep.

They just happened to need contribution points, and the other party needed medicine; in any case, they had previously stockpiled a lot of medicine and various vaccines from pharmaceutical factories.

Bai Tang walked over to the staff and said, "Our team has taken on this task of finding medicine. Please register it for us."

After speaking, Bai Tang handed her ID card to the staff member at the counter.

The staff member looked at Bai Tang and thought:

"Wow, someone already accepted the task I just added. Is this some kind of freebie hunter?"

Although the staff member had these thoughts in mind, she still politely registered the task for Bai Tang.

Because the mission was an urgent one issued by the military, she dared not delay it.

Just as Bai Tang finished accepting the mission, Ji Quanlin in the military received news that someone had taken on the mission of finding medicine.

Commander Ji urgently issued this mission because his father's diabetes had suddenly worsened. The doctor at the base examined him and said that he needed insulin, but the base didn't have any.

Therefore, he could only issue tasks at the service center on the one hand, and try to find solutions on his own on the other.

I didn't expect someone to take on this task so quickly. It seems his old man is saved.

After Bai Tang and his team finished accepting the mission, they prepared to go home, pretending to take out insulin from their home before going to the service center to hand in the mission.

Gu Yanxu drove home quickly. Due to the rising temperature, the snow in the base had melted.

Fortunately, most of the roads inside the base are paved with cement and asphalt, so the vehicles don't have to drive through the mud.

After returning home, Bai Tang went to her bedroom and took out ten boxes of well-preserved insulin from her spatial storage.

Then take out a small, temperature-controlled, rechargeable refrigerator from the space, and adjust the temperature of the refrigerator to the optimal two to eight degrees Celsius for storing insulin.

I carefully placed the ten boxes of insulin into the refrigerator's crisper drawer.

After finishing all that, Bai Tang took the small refrigerator and left the bedroom.

When Lin Fan and the others saw Bai Tang come out, they said, "Sister-in-law, why are you carrying a small refrigerator? Isn't it insulin that they need?"

Lin Zhou said from the side, "That's because you don't understand. The optimal storage temperature for unopened insulin is two to eight degrees Celsius."

"It's so hot outside. If my sister-in-law takes out the insulin directly, it might spoil and become unusable before it even reaches the recipient."

After Linzhou explained the science behind it, Lin Fan suddenly understood:

"Oh, I didn't know that was the case. I've never used insulin, so I don't really know much about it."

Then Lin Fan asked Bai Tang, "Sister-in-law, how did you know about this? I remember you studied economics in college."

Bai Tang said in a serious tone, "Because there are instructions inside."

Bai Jiyang burst out laughing: "Pfft, hahaha, I knew it."

Bai Tang glanced at him, and Bai Jiyang immediately fell silent.

Gu Yanxu said, "Alright, stop joking around. Let's deliver the things to the person first. They probably need them urgently."

After he finished speaking, Bai Tang agreed, and besides, the temperature outside was too high, so delaying any longer would be a waste of time.

Then Bai Tang, Gu Yanxu, and Lin Feng, carrying insulin, drove to the service center to hand in their mission.

The other three people and the canned food waited at home.

Driving smoothly, Bai Tang and her two companions arrived at the service center without any trouble.

After parking the car, Bai Tang carried the small refrigerator, with Gu Yanxu and Lin Feng following on either side of her.

The three of them walked together to the counter where they could hand in their tasks.

Bai Tang said, "Hello, we're here to hand in the mission, the 24-hour urgent mission."

The staff member handling their applications was the same one, because they came and went so quickly that the staff hadn't changed shifts yet.

The staff were amazed by their speed, because medicines are very scarce now, and people usually don't take them out easily even if they have stockpiled them at home.

So she quickly asked Bai Tang to confirm that they had come to hand in their mission.

The staff member called Ji Quanlin to report that someone had completed the expedited task, while speaking to Bai Tang.

"Hello, could you please open this small refrigerator? I need to verify the authenticity of the items on the spot."

Bai Tang told the staff, "Then you need to do the checkup quickly. Insulin shouldn't be exposed to hot weather for too long."

The staff, fully aware of the importance of these ten boxes of insulin, then said to Bai Tang...

"Okay, thanks for the reminder. I'll finish reading it soon."

Bai Tang didn't hesitate and quickly opened the door to the refrigerator's freezer compartment.

The staff quickly checked within 40 seconds and confirmed that it was ten boxes of insulin.

Then Bai Tang quickly closed the door of the small refrigerator.

After checking, the staff said, "Okay, it's definitely ten boxes of insulin."

Once the person who posted the task arrives and it's confirmed by both of you, the contribution points will be credited to your cards.
