Cheat system.
One of the popular plot work he would read back home.
Where one day you woke up in another world and were given your Golden finger or cheat system with a broken ability.
Coming to this world, he found this place already dominated by a system.
A system he couldn't access, for being a person from another universe.
Then, it appeared.
The system he would have, allowing him to rise in power — but, this system of his is broken.
Not in the sense of giving him overpowered abilitie — but in a literal sense.
Although most of its features are the same as this world's existing system, his was nowhere complete or working at all.
It has the system leveling up, stats, skills, and even talent of such.
Yet, most of these are locked or unavailable for him to use.
The system doesn't say anything about it, acting like this was meant to be.
Deep within, he knows this system of his was not working at all.
Now, hiding himself in a corner of the corridor, covering his body with a blanket.
He held his breath, wanting to make sure the monster moving in the hall won't notice him here.
Hearing their footsteps moving around, he gritted his teeth, ensuring nothing can happen.
After ten minutes of hiding in this place, he heard them move away, allowing him to run.
Yet, he didn't move first.
He waited.
He waited for a good time, to make sure they actually left and didn't just stay silent.
After twenty minutes holding the corner of this blanket he used to cover himself in the night, he let his arm rest, having to hold it in the air all this time.
Looking around, he was still inside the dungeon second floor.
Bricks, moss, and tiny pebbles around the hall — a typical dungeon look, with torches from time to time.
He sighed, thankful for surviving that just now. To think, there would be 6 goblins gathering together in a single room.
Although he has won against them already, that kind of number is not meant to be underestimated.
After all, this world is not a game — even if it does have game mechanics.
One wrong move and he'll die.
Permanently.
Looking around, he found the floor relaxing, after escaping from them.
Something he would normally not even think about.
Rummaging his pockets, he pulled out three red crystals. The pocket money he'll earn today.
Since he spent over a day here already, he decided to leave.
Moving carefully through the halls, avoiding areas known where monsters normally spawn and gather.
Since he took his time in moving, by the time he left the dungeon completely, night was already in.
There, outside the dungeon entrance, a single man stood alone without any companion around him.
Wearing a simple black shirt and gray pants — with the brown blanket he has. The only clothes he had — different from what everyone else wore.
"Sigh, fucking hell." He cursed, stretching his arms.
"Spent over a day in a dungeon. Killed over ten monsters. Yet, I only got three mana crystals in the end."
He sighed, pulling out 12 copper coins in his hand, this was the remaining money he had left.
Perfect for a single skewer of meat and a glass of juice.
Which will serve as his dinner and only meal of the day. Although he wasn't satisfied with it, he knew wasting any money is a stupid thing to do.
Moving to the stalls near the dungeon, he went to the stall with a bearded uncle. The moment he was near it, the owner saw him and started moving.
"One—."
"Here," the uncle said, stopping his words before he could even complete it. Putting down a skewer of bunny meat and a glass of juice.
"Thanks," Jayson said, grabbing the glass and drinking it to quench his thirst, he's been holding in the entire day.
Finishing his only meal, he tapped down the payment for them and left.
There wasn't a word of exchange between them, as they were not close enough to have one.
"Another rough day, huh?" the stall owner said, grabbing the plate and glass he served Jayson with, as he moved to the street.
"Look at him, he's still barely earning anything at all." Saying these words, he looked away from him and started caring for his stall.
Leaving the stalls within the dungeon, Jayson continued moving in the street, avoiding hitting people around him — to not cause any problem.
Keeping a tight grip on his earnings today and his blanket. After a while, he looked up and saw the guild entrance lit up.
"Finally," he said, glad to get here without getting robbed again.
Entering the guild, he moved to the table on the side, where people were lining up.
The guild was loud, like always. People laughing, glasses tapping, and stories being told all around.
Seeing this, he knew those people had just come back from their adventure and earned good money.
"Pity," he called himself.
Jealous of those people, who unlike him, still diving alone in the dungeon, are actual adventurers and earning good money.
He looked down at his hand, looking at the three crystals he got today. Small, weak in color, and probably low quality too.
Before he knew it, it was his turn in the line.
Putting two of the crystals he had, he waited for the receptionist of the guild to exchange them.
"Thank you for your hard work," the red-haired lady said with a practiced smile, bringing out a plate with fifty coins.
Grabbing it, Jay smiled and said back, "You too," then leaving quickly to his next destination.
Leaving the guild, he went to the opposite direction it was set on, going to the shady and dark alleyways people would never think of even getting closer to.
"Ahh, gross." He sneered, smelling the thick pungent smell of trash and animal shit on the ground.
Carefully taking his steps within the tight alley, not wanting to step on any shit there was.
Just a bit of time later, he looked up and found a horse stable. Moving to the main house of this building, he tapped the backdoor it had and waited.
There, in the dark, where the only light was from the window of the door, he waited.
Cold and alone. Quiet and lonely.
Then, it opened. Meeting a lady with a mole near her nose.
"Here's today's payment," Jay said, giving 30 copper coins to her.
Counting it, the lady smiled and said, "Feel free to use it again." Then slamming the door, without letting him talk back.
"Thanks..." Jay murmured, looking down in embarrassment, not being able to say it back to her.
Moving to the horse stable, he caressed the head of the horses there, feeding them straw set in the front.
Moving to the very back of this stable, an empty space was free.
"Back to this shit hole again," Jay murmured, placing down the blanket he's been carrying onto the straw inside the room and laying on it.
"Another day, another horrible life." He told himself, grabbing the remaining crystal he didn't exchange in the guild.
