Chapter 30 He Liang's Strange Abilities
I dug out all the cat beds, dog beds, cat trees, and dog toys I had stockpiled from my storage space and arranged them all in the three little ones' happy room. That was barely enough to finish.
They planned to leave early the next morning, so that night Yu Miaomiao put everything she could in the house into her space, leaving only a bed and a heating device. The three little ones only took a nap, and when they woke up, they found the house empty and all the familiar smells gone.
Yuanzi: "Meow, Dog Bro, did we get our house raided while we were sleeping?"
Sesame Paste: "No smell of strangers, there's a mole, halt the transaction."
Tuanzi: "Is it because our owner went bankrupt? Is the next step to use us to pay off their debts?"
Sesame Sauce: "Woof, I'm doomed, I'm the fattest, I'll probably be sold first."
Yu Miaomiao and Lu An couldn't help but cover their mouths and chuckle as they watched the three little cats talking to each other in a serious manner. They wondered if they had any language barriers.
The next morning, Yu Miaomiao got up at the crack of dawn. After waking Lu An, she dragged the three sleeping soundly out of bed and put them into her space. She also put the bed and electric heater into her space, leaving the room completely empty.
It would be a lie to say they were reluctant to leave. Although they had only lived in this house for less than a year, it was the beginning of all their hopes.
After taking one last look at the empty house, the two of them removed the heavy bulletproof door and put it into their space. After the next natural disaster, this place would be gone, but it didn't matter. As long as she and Lu An were still together, and the three of them were still there, the house would still be there.
I bumped right into Yao Yao as I was passing by on the 16th floor.
"Sister, where are you going?"
"The older sisters are leaving here. What are you doing alone in the hallway so early? Don't run around like that. Your parents will worry if they can't find you."
Yu Miaomiao originally didn't want to say goodbye to Yaoyao in person, but since they had run into each other, she decided to act as Yaoyao's cheap teacher and give her another lesson: parting.
Life is made up of countless encounters and partings. If it weren't for the natural disaster, they wouldn't have met the Liu family, nor would they have had such a friend despite their age difference.
"Sisters, are you all leaving? Will Yaoyao never see you again?"
The little girl's tears fell like tiny pearls from a broken string as she tried to suppress her sobs and asked softly.
"Yes, the sisters are leaving. We may meet again or not. Regardless of whether we meet again or not, the sisters will never forget Yaoyao, and Yaoyao will never forget the sisters, right?"
"Yes, Yaoyao has a very good memory!" The little girl nodded affirmatively. "I can recite the multiplication tables backwards, so I definitely won't forget my sister's."
"Then Yaoyao, you mustn't cry. Your sister will look forward to seeing you again next time."
"Okay, Yaoyao isn't crying, her eyes are just a little uncomfortable. Let me blow on them for her." The little girl brought her face close to Yu Miaomiao's. Yu Miaomiao looked closely and saw nothing unusual; she was clearly just crying.
As Yu Miaomiao leaned forward, the little girl planted a kiss on Yu Miaomiao's cheek. A sly smile flashed across her face, and she turned and jumped into Lu An's arms. Lu An also picked up the little girl and kissed her.
Using the pocket as cover, Yu Miaomiao took out a gold necklace from her spatial storage. Gold was worthless in the apocalypse, so she gave it to the little girl as a keepsake and put it around her neck.
Being a girl, she was delighted to see anything sparkly and pretty. Her little hands stroked the cat on the necklace pendant, and the little girl stopped crying. She turned around and went back to find her parents. She believed that her sisters kept their word and would definitely see each other again next time.
"There's one more thing I'd like you to give to Mom and Dad."
Yu Miaomiao placed the key to the 17th-floor iron gate in the little girl's palm, then bent down and told the little girl that the password for the 18th-floor apartment should still be the initial password, and if they didn't leave in a short time, they could stay on the 18th floor for a while.
The two parted ways with the little girl and continued downstairs. The flashlight beam was very bright, illuminating a long, dark shadow at a corner, but no one was in sight.
In other words, there was a black humanoid shadow on the ground, but no one was there. Even Yu Miaomiao, who had been reborn, was startled. The two looked around but found no one.
Yu Miaomiao stared intently at the long, dark shadow, her palms sweating slightly. If the shadow lunged at her, she was ready to draw her sword from her spatial dimension at any moment, but she didn't know if the weapon would be effective against the shadow.
"I've been waiting for you for ages." The voice seemed to come from the underworld, and then a person crawled out of the shadows on the ground. "Give me a hand, I'm stuck."
"You...you son of a bitch, He Liang, can't you come up with something decent? Stop playing around with cosplaying Sadako!"
Lu An recognized the voice and couldn't help but go up and pull him out, only to find that the person he pulled out was He Liang.
"Damn it, do you think I wanted this? I woke up in here, I thought I'd gone blind." He Liang got agitated and swore, which was rare for him.
"You've awakened a superpower." Yu Miaomiao realized, but what kind of superpower was this? She had never seen it in her previous life.
"Well, you could call it a superpower. I thought I had mutated."
He Liang had a fever all night. When he finally woke up, he found himself surrounded by darkness. He thought it was because it was a cloudy day and there was no light source, but after lying there for a long time, it was still pitch black all around him.
He simply stood up and groped around, but he couldn't find the edge or see anything. However, he could hear the whistling wind, just like he usually felt in the living room on the 13th floor.
He felt he was doomed. Not only did he have a fever, but he also lost his sight. In this apocalypse, death was the only way out.
But suddenly he saw a glimmer of light, and a black and white mirror appeared in front of him, which was his living room area. He walked forward and found that his body could pass through the sofa and through the walls, and he arrived directly in the hallway. Everything was familiar, but he could not feel the chill in the hallway, there was no cold at all.
He tried to step out of the dark area and found his head emerging from a dark hole, level with the stairs.
He forced himself to calm down, guessing that perhaps the fever had unleashed his potential, turning him into a superman.
But what is this, Shadow Superman?
But since he wouldn't feel cold inside the shadows, he figured it was fine to stay there. It wasn't until he saw Yu Miaomiao and the other woman appear that he couldn't help but call out to stop them.
For some reason, he felt that Yu Miaomiao seemed to know something.
Yu Miaomiao did know about superpowers, but she had no idea what kind of superpower it was. She had never seen or heard of this kind of superpower in the three years she lived in her previous life.
Do you know what happened?
"I don't know. I only know that it's a special ability. In the apocalypse, some people will awaken it by chance. Having a special ability means an increased chance of survival. Congratulations."
"Yes, at least I don't feel cold anymore."
He Liang thought about it and it was a good idea. He tried jumping back into the shadow and found that it worked. When he moved in the shadow, the shadow on the ground would move with his movements. It was indeed an essential tool for survival at home and while traveling.
"Alright, we're leaving now. See you again someday." Yu Miaomiao didn't want to linger. After daybreak, there would be more people around, and their movements would be very obvious. She didn't want too many people to know her whereabouts.
