Chapter 5 - Full moon Festival _2

"You see, with the direct application of truce, in this game I utilize its Vail of peaceful agreement. But the real reason is never surrendering, but rather creating a thought of weakness. With this, opponent will feel superior or inclined not bordering that much to deal with me. And that is when my last 2 laws materialize: Self-belief and Attack! After I had already sized up, boosted my logistics and solidified my line of defense one way or the other. It's quite hard to catch this plan, all made possible by 'truce'. I will loose some soldiers from the front, since my opponent will start capturing from that line of my battalion, but their sacrifice worth because they leave the field barren for the enemy to enter not knowing what trick lays behind. It's like inviting someone to your house, it's mandatory to be known that you hold the ultimate power!"

"Oh, okay I see. So you are making a complete use of the 64-square board, perfectly aligning your players in certain positions so when you're attacked, the opponent falls into your killing range knowing he has eliminated your soldier. And as they advance, you make your soldiers appear low and unprepared - mentally charging a superior force in your opponent's head, and then....

You still lead them to kill some of your soldiers from the front while you strategically prepare the rear, while your opponent's rare is unguarded, but because of manipulation he is blinded. Clouded, he moves forward with a huge crowd to immediately suppress the weak not knowing it's a trap. And then just like now, you raise an unexpected attack flooding over your opponent without any mercy, and quickly advancing to capture the rear, most importantly the king. Wow, nice game. Kwadjo truth to be told, I have met several experienced players and though I have lost to a fraction of substantial, but I have never met your type in any of the games. Your method is it self created or learnt??" Mr. Owusu seemed very serious asking this question.

" Please it is a homogeneous combination of the two" Kwadjo said humbly, feeling even more confident in himself for winning the game in just a few minutes.

" That's why. Look, you're a genius. Go on your own path and follow your heart and mind, don't let any circumstances whatsoever dim your light. You will truly be someone in the future!"

Yeahh!! Yeahh!! The crowd cheered in their deep male voices that sounded hoarse and rigid, all as a result of exhaustion and most importantly a great conclusion to a great game. You see, when the game began, for either of the factions to win was neither least expected nor most expected. But what made the crowd more happier than the normal result itself was Kwadjo's strategy for planning. Honestly speaking they themselves knew they can't show such prowess in the game of Dame, let alone playing with a renowned expertise like Mr. Owusu. Kwadjo's capability to stand tall even before mr. Owusu was a real cause for their cheer. One man from the crowd grabbed hold of Kwadjo and effortlessly carried him on his shoulders ready to send him anywhere he wished to. But then, the least unexpected happened..

"What's the hurry, brother why don't you bring our little treasure here to drink??"

To drink?? The crowd was utterly flabbergasted.

This is mr. Owusu the second oldest person in the entire village, therefore his age and personality was naturally respected. Especially when he was unlike the village head, he is a provider of foodstuffs and meats for the village and for sales. What's more of his respect is, he is the one, since the village took establishment been the trading chief and the head of training children physically in the morning and mentally in the evening.

Speaking of which, the Dame game just now could be said more as a mental training. But unexpected turns made this game a real battle..

Ever since the establishment of the village, he has all since been known for his knowledge when it came to wise-sayings and problem solving. Moreover he was hardworking.

Children in the village knew well of mr. Owusu and each one of them liked him except for those who were lazy. He made strict rules , for example children were to assemble at the village's community 'gathering park' early in the morning as soon as the sun made a faint glare - he says training in the sun everyday boosts the mechanisms of a working tender body which undoubtedly would be useful in the future. And it also awakens meridians, strengthen muscles and tendons, then again give a healthy reading skin.

Early evening, he would gather all children around a bonfire to tell them folktales, wise-sayings and more to also sharpen their mentality for the future. For puzzle games like dame, he only played with the grown-up.

An encompass of these made him a suitable figure for the leadership of the village, but customs which had always been so good gave a Left -eye this time around choosing unfortunately someone not suitable.

Mr. Owusu had no wife and that made the young women in the village like him too. Every step he took in the village was accompanied by watching eyes and praises unlike a certain someone who ceased to come out again sometime after gaining shelter.

His respect was mandatory and he truly deserved it.

Just 3 days ago, he had lead the hunting squad out-of-town to trade and quickly returned on the night of the Full Moon Festival to celebrate with his village folks. He and the hunters made a strenuous journey back home. And was extremely exhausted, but the artwork of the unknown painter somehow gave them a sense of relief.

It was full moon time so mr. Owusu didn't want to bother the children or rather most of them won't come anyway. So he decided to have a play with one of his rivals who was amongst the hunting squad brother sisire(bear); identified as bear because he is the first person ever to kill a bear in the entire village.

Kwadjo who was trotting down home was interrupted by the heavy sighs of the hunting squad in a distance. It was then he noticed they had returned. Kwadjo was the type of child who favoured the mental lessons over the strengthen lessons, simply because of his fragile and pinched body.

It was eve, and full moon, so he thought of going to ask mr. Owusu if lesson was ready, and that was when his game began after brother bear loss to mr. Owusu.

When Kwadjo had requested to play after brother bear loss, the hunting squad showed no interest and even intended to leave for they thought they would get nothing worth in a child's game, and morever they were exhausted, a child's play would make one more dull. And in the right sense, the odds are true: a child's game is no use in anyway to the grown. It was mr. Owusu who called them back and ...

Having a drink with Kwadjo from someone prestigious like mr. Owusu meant more than just a drink. It meant mr. Owusu gives all respect and honor to Kwadjo.

But for a child?! Barely 10 years! Something even the hunting squad hasn't received yet!

But Kwadjo.. what merits did he harbor?

Though the hunting squad found that marvelous, but on the contrary they felt no envious heart towards Kwadjo, even later they agreed he deserved such a toast!

This wasn't because he was a kid, but rather because of his brilliant display a while ago.

And of course other grown people might have developed a sense of melancholy towards Kwadjo, because to select futility over reshuffle is an utter unimaginable choice.

Kwadjo equally dumbstruck went for the toast when all the hunting squad gave their approval. He knew traditions quite too well, and really understood what this meant even if not to its fullest extent.

He felt delighted, and sighed in his heart, "this is the greatest day of my life".

While they drank, the hunting squad clapped and cheered merrily. It all lasted for half an hour before everyone departed with a heavy sense of the upcoming festive event looming on their minds.

Everyone left except two shadows which from all respective angles, was mr. Owusu and Kwadjo's.

"Kwadjo do you want to know why I agreed to play with you?"

With the departure of his brothers, mr. Owusu thought it was the right time to let the cat out of the bag.

Dumbstruck, Kwadjo shook his head slowly and humbly said, "the junior is just cub, and he needs to be enlightened"

"Okay, well said! Now listen. I know very much of your unfortunate situation about your Celestial Sah. I'm really sorry on that. I have been watching you for a while now, and I find you as a reasonable child, even more witted than those with the Celestial Sah. Hence..." mr. Owusu paused and patted Kwadjo's shoulder wearing a smile, then continued more amiably, " hence I believe you can create another beauty even without Celestial Sah. Although I am clueless on that, but something about you makes me very much assured."

Mr. Owusu then let go of Kwadjo and was about to go when Kwadjo humbly said, "mr. Owusu the junior now understands why the senior played with him"

Mr. Owusu smiled and said, " what do you plan for the upcoming festive event, another Self-belief and Attack method??"

Kwadjo couldn't help laughing, even mr. Owusu himself did laugh. " The junior plans to do as customs demand "

"Okay, okay, let's depart here then"

High spirited, Kwadjo went in his home's direction.
