Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Reactions in the Original World

Black World

A luminous screen also hung high in the sky, and information about the parallel worlds poured directly into everyone's minds.

---

Spirit Hall

"Teacher, do you think that in a parallel world, there might be a version of me who never joined Spirit Hall?"

Hu Liena, a member of Spirit Hall's Golden Generation and Bibi Dong's personal disciple, looked curiously at her teacher.

"Perhaps,"

Bibi Dong replied softly. Yet Hu Liena could clearly sense that her teacher's response was perfunctory—her mind clearly elsewhere.

Naturally, Hu Liena grew curious about what Bibi Dong was truly thinking.

In truth, Bibi Dong's thoughts were in complete turmoil.

She was thinking of her past—of every step that had led her to where she stood today.

If I had successfully left Spirit Hall with Yu Xiaogang back then…

Or if I had never joined Spirit Hall at all…

These possibilities replayed endlessly in her heart.

---

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

"Uncle Jian, Uncle Gu, do you think that in this parallel world, there could be a version of me who successfully evolved the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda?"

Ning Fengzhi turned to Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo beside him.

It could only be said that Ning Fengzhi's obsession with the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda ran deep. The moment he heard about parallel worlds, this was the very first thought that crossed his mind.

"…It should be possible," Bone Douluo said after a moment's consideration.

"If such a case really exists, Fengzhi, perhaps you could use that version as a reference."

"Exactly. If there truly is a successful evolution, then it could be studied."

Ning Fengzhi's eyes lit up instantly, anticipation flooding his heart for the coming comparison.

---

Shrek Academy

"Teacher, if a comparison really happens, what kind of scene would you want to see?"

Tang San asked Yu Xiaogang, who stood beside him.

Now that the Shrek Seven Devils had gathered and his teacher had arrived, Tang San was brimming with confidence in the future. He believed there were no better choices he could have made.

So instead of himself, he was more curious about others.

"I have nothing I want to see,"

Yu Xiaogang replied indifferently, shaking his head.

"Life changes with different choices. Such comparisons are meaningless."

In truth, the moment he learned about parallel worlds, Yu Xiaogang had thought of himself.

His life could only be described as tragic.

Born into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect, one of the Upper Three Sects, and the son of the Sect Master Thunder Douluo Yu Yuanzhen, his status had once been illustrious.

But all of that ended on the day of his Martial Soul Awakening.

The viciously mutated spirit Luo San Pao, coupled with only half a rank of Innate Spirit Power, shattered everything.

He became the shame of the sect, the object of ridicule, and a permanent stain on his father's reputation.

After that, Yu Xiaogang devoted himself to endless research, trying to unearth Luo San Pao's potential. Yet with talent so lacking, his fate had long been sealed—Rank 29, forever unable to advance.

Looking back on the struggles of his early life, Yu Xiaogang believed that every choice he had made was flawless.

It was only his talent that had held him back.

Otherwise, he would never have ended up like this.

He was confident that even in parallel worlds, not every version of Yu Xiaogang could reach his level. Some might still be stuck at Rank 9 or Rank 19.

To reach Rank 29 with Luo San Pao was already a heaven-defying reversal of fate.

"All right, there's nothing worth watching."

"With me designing your training plans, your future choices won't go wrong."

"Just like me. Every major decision in my life was perfect. If I were compared, only worse outcomes would appear."

Yu Xiaogang stood before the Shrek Seven Devils, his posture confident, his gaze lingering especially on his disciple, Tang San.

Even after exhausting everything he had, he had only reached this point—still branded as trash by the world.

Therefore, he would cultivate an invincible disciple.

He would prove himself to everyone.

However—

What Yu Xiaogang never expected was that in the very next second, the first comparison target would appear.

[First Comparison Target:

Black World — Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang

White World — Dragon God Douluo Yu Xiaogang]

The moment those words appeared on the heavenly curtain, the Shrek Seven Devils—along with Flender, Zhao Wuji, and the other teachers watching nearby—instinctively turned their eyes toward Yu Xiaogang.

Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang.

Dragon God Douluo Yu Xiaogang.

There was no doubt which belonged to their world—and which belonged to the other.

The Yu Xiaogang of another world had become a Titled Douluo, bearing the overwhelming title of Dragon God. His strength was beyond imagination.

And yet—

Only moments earlier, Yu Xiaogang had confidently declared:

"Every choice I made was perfect. If I were compared, only worse situations would appear."

The slap to the face came so fast that no one had time to react.

A suffocating silence blanketed the training ground.

No one knew what to say.

Until—

Pfft.

A barely suppressed snicker broke the stillness.

Everyone turned toward the source—and saw Ning Rongrong.

Instantly, it all made sense.

Only the young lady of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would dare laugh at a moment like this.

Tang San's expression darkened. He shot Ning Rongrong a cold glare.

Mocking his teacher?

If she weren't his current companion, she would already be courting death.

"Impossible!!!"

Ning Rongrong's laughter seemed to shatter the frozen air. The first to erupt was Yu Xiaogang himself.

"Dragon God Douluo Yu Xiaogang?! How could that be possible?!"

"My choices were perfect! My research into martial spirits is unmatched on the Douluo Continent!"

"If even I can't break through Rank 30, how could another version of me become a Titled Douluo?!"

"This must be fake!"

Yu Xiaogang pointed furiously at the heavenly curtain. His eyes were bloodshot, his breathing ragged as he repeatedly muttered impossible.

In his heart, he had already branded the heavenly curtain a fraud—some malicious Spirit Ability designed to slander him.

"Xiaogang, calm down first."

Flender hurried to his side, supporting his unsteady body.

"Maybe it's just someone with the same name. Or perhaps there's another explanation."

"Right, Teacher."

Tang San also stepped forward to comfort him.

"We all know your talent. If even you couldn't do it, how could anyone else?"

Tang San's words had an immediate effect. Yu Xiaogang gradually calmed down, though his gaze grew darker than before.

Then, Tang San's eyes flickered—as if he had thought of something.

"Teacher, the heavenly curtain said that someone's choices caused the world to change."

"Maybe it wasn't you who changed… but your parents."

"Perhaps in that world, they consumed some rare herbs or made different decisions that altered your talent."

Yu Xiaogang froze for a moment—

Then his eyes lit up.

"Yes! It must be my parents!"

"In that world, my martial spirit wasn't Luo San Pao! My Innate Spirit Power wasn't half a rank!"

"Yes—this must be it!"

He accepted Tang San's explanation almost instantly.

In his mind, the Dragon God Douluo Yu Xiaogang must have been born with full Innate Spirit Power. Only that could explain such an achievement.

And at that very moment, resentment toward his own world surged uncontrollably within him.

"Damn the heavens!"

"Why is it that we're the same person—yet another version gets full Innate Spirit Power, while I'm left like this?!"
