Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: The Rebirth of Gudako and the Birth of 'Mash'

Rin and Da Vinci arrived at a heavily guarded room within Chaldea.

Looking at the massive upright Metal sarcophagus before her, Rin nodded to Da Vinci, who pressed a nearby button upon receiving the signal.

As the button was pressed, the lid of the Metal sarcophagus, several meters thick, slowly opened with a grinding sound, while a bone-chilling frost seeped from the gap between the lid and the body.

Da Vinci rubbed her thighs, which were suddenly hit by the cold air, and then looked up to stare intently at the now fully opened Metal sarcophagus.

Rin waved her hand to disperse the cold mist with magecraft. Looking at Gudako, who was frozen inside the sarcophagus like a sleeping beauty, she turned to Da Vinci and said.

"Begin transferring that portion of the soul, then wake up Gudako!"

"Rin, do you really want to erase the memories carried within that part of the soul?"

"Erase them!"

Receiving Rin's categorical answer, Da Vinci asked no further. She turned to the console and began typing commands on the keyboard.

Soon, the pipes on the walls began to glow in unison, and then Gudako, who was fixed upright in the Metal sarcophagus, slowly opened her eyes.

The newly awakened Gudako seemed not yet accustomed to her body. It took her a long time to unfasten the safety straps securing her, after which she stumbled out of the Metal sarcophagus and fell before Rin.

Gudako propped herself up with her arms and, with a dazed expression, spoke to the first person she saw in this world.

"Um, hello. Where is this?... Who are you?... Who am I?"

A gentle smile appeared on Rin's face. She knelt down and patted the head of the girl, who appeared to be only 12 or 13 years old, and said in a soft voice.

"This is Chaldea. My name is Rin Tohsaka, and I am your master. You are my disciple, Gudako!"

"Chaldea... Rin Tohsaka... Master... Disciple... I am Gudako?"

Rin watched Gudako as she sat on the floor repeating those few phrases. Smiling, she pulled over a chair and sat by Gudako's side, watching her.

Meanwhile, Da Vinci quietly left the room. Stepping outside, she stretched, showing off her fine curves.

"It feels like it's been a long time since I've seen Rin give such a heartfelt smile!"

By now, nearly an hour had passed since the end of the experiment. The participants who had awakened one after another had all taken the elevator to the Chaldea cafeteria on the surface.

A dazed Shinji followed Touko, who had a cigarette in her mouth, as they slowly entered the cafeteria. Then, two voices exceptionally familiar to Shinji rang out not far away.

"Shinji! Over here!" x2

Caren and Shirou, who were eating in the cafeteria, spotted their childhood friend at once and stood up together excitedly, waving and calling out to Shinji.

Having just woken up, Shinji was incredibly excited to hear the call of his childhood friend. However, remembering that he didn't understand anything about his current situation, he could only turn his head to look at Touko, who had brought him here.

"Go ahead! Just don't forget what I told you; keep in mind the precautions for this body of yours."

Having received Touko's permission, Shinji excitedly bowed to her, then quickly went over to Caren and Shirou, embracing them with excitement.

Touko glanced at the rowdy group and casually tossed her cigarette butt into the ashtray nearby.

"Rowdy brats."

By now, Shinji, Shirou, and Caren had finished venting their excitement. After having an autonomous puppet order dinner for Shinji, they sat at the dining table and began to talk to each other.

"Have I really been in a coma for 6 years?"

"That's right. Ever since you were picked up by Rin after the Holy Grail War six years ago, you've been frozen in a metal coffin by her. We couldn't even visit you."

"It's better that you didn't!"

As he spoke, Shinji took off his glove, revealing the body made of magical metal underneath, and tapped it against the table.

"That person just now... Touko 'Elder Sister'... told me that when Rin picked me up, I was basically just a head and a spine. Maybe I was just lucky! avalon seems to have recognized me as its master, which is why I didn't die."

Shirou scratched his head; at this moment, he had no idea how to comfort his childhood friend.

"It's good that you're okay."

"Yeah! It's good that you're okay, Brother Shinji."

"Yeah! I can come back to life, so what is there to complain about? But is Rin really this strong now? I remember my brain stem was eaten by... that guy's bugs at the time!"

Having finished speaking, Shinji seemed to recall the scene of his brain stem being consumed by the bugs and couldn't help but shiver.

At this moment, Sakura, who had come to the cafeteria with Fujino, saw the awakened Shinji. She greeted Fujino and then walked over to Shinji, who was chatting enthusiastically with Caren and Shirou, and spoke gently.

"Shinji-kun, long time no see!"

"Sakura!"

An excited Shinji stood up, wanting to give his childhood companion Sakura a hug, but was held back by Caren.

"Shinji, this is Rin's territory!"

Upon Caren's reminder, Shinji froze. He recalled the memory of touching Sakura at the school in Fuyuki City years ago, only to be beaten half to death when Rin saw it, and let out a silly laugh.

"Alright! It seems that Rin hasn't changed at all; she's still a sis-con!"

Olga Marie, who had been watching the fate system test all afternoon, came to the cafeteria because she was hungry. Seeing the many new faces that had suddenly appeared, she stood at the cafeteria entrance with her hands on her hips and shouted.

"Who are you people? How did you end up here?"

Faced with Olga Marie's question, the entire cafeteria suddenly fell silent.

Fujino, who was dining, put down her cutlery and tapped the table, signaling for Olga Marie to come over.

After Olga Marie came over and sat down in front of Fujino, the silent cafeteria became lively again.

"They are all personnel that Master kept in Chaldea years ago for one of her experiments. Since the experiment was completed today, they are allowed to show themselves."

"Are they employees found by Elder Sister? Fine! Remember to fill in their staff profiles and work badges later."

Having said that, Olga Marie had no intention of talking to Fujino any further. As for Fujino, who was competing with her for 'Elder Sister', Olga Marie didn't have a shred of affection for her.

"Elder Sister, hmph! Shameless person!"

fate system test site.

Accompanied by a roar, a piercing alarm sounded. The Chaldea staff observing from the side swarmed over, quickly opened the experiment pods, lifted the several personnel participating in the experiment out of the chambers, and handed them over to the medical team led by the doctor.

Dr. Roman took off his stethoscope and shook his head at another medical staff member. With an ugly expression, he walked to the side of another experimental subject and put on his stethoscope to continue checking the experimental subject's vital signs.

"Doctor! There's one still alive here!"

Dr. Roman hurriedly took off his stethoscope and rubbed his ears. After confirming he hadn't misheard, he quickly ran toward the experimental subject who had survived.

Standing beside the Old Director, Akuta Hina pushed up her glasses and muttered.

"Only that Mash survived? How tragic! Don't you think so, Marisbury!"
