Jacob's voice rang out sharply, edged with rising anger. "Tell me right now where she is, or I'm calling the authorities and having this investigated. She is the Deputy CEO of Van Empire, after all!"
"Calm down, Mr. Grant," Nigel's troubled voice followed, controlled yet strained with worry. "I only want to know where my boss is, Mr. Pierce, since you mentioned she had retired early last night."
"I need both of you to calm down," Cillian's familiar, unhurried voice cut through the tension, far too composed for the situation at hand. "I have nothing to do with this beyond what she told me. I'm sure she is simply asleep… or perhaps she stepped out for a walk."
"I'm certain she would have contacted me if she were awake," Nigel replied, his composure beginning to crack, frustration bleeding into his words.
"I'm not sure how to respond to that, as I don't keep a daily track of her life," Cillian replied calmly, only making Jacob flare up again.
