Chapter Title: Battlegrounds 2 Trial

-----------------------------------------------------------------

But I wasn't reassured in the slightest.

My brave Solomon dong had chickened out, shriveling up like a November dog pussy and muttering, "This is too much..." as if to say it just wasn't gonna happen.

...Should I sell this 1kg gold bar, fly to America, bribe a gun dealer, and snag an illegal firearm?

With my current skills, if two or three zombies rushed me at once, I'd get bitten and turn into one in no time...

You can't underestimate zombies.

These fuckers cling on like motherless bastards and tear into you—that's what makes them terrifying.

And among them, the massive pig zombies or those muscle-bound gym rat hell zombies... the raw power from their mass is no joke.

Imagine a 120kg+ muscle pig zombie charging at full force—you'd know you couldn't block that easily.

And then there are those jumper fuckers that pop up maybe 10% of the time...

These hyperactive, leaping zombie shits are goddamn scary.

Unlike regular zombies that just shamble around, these sprint and leap right at you.

If one of those athletic, stamina-packed jumpers tramples me, it's game over.

As I mulled all this over...

It suddenly hit me—I could challenge the 2nd floor trial.

...What if I get way stronger in the 2nd floor trial? I could snag some magic items too...?

The difficulty's super easy anyway... Maybe I'll luck into some good drops...

"Hey, system. I'm challenging the 2nd floor trial."

The moment I invoked the system and declared my intent for the 2nd floor,

my body was already in that void space I'd dubbed the 'Tower Lobby.'

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

Would you like to challenge the 2nd floor trial?

"Yeah."

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

Please select the type of trial.

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

Examples for selection will be provided.

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

<(Game) Battlegrounds 2>

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

<(Webtoon) Iljin Girl Debuts as VTuber!>

"Hmm..., oh! Battlegrounds 2! Hell yeah! I can grab a gun from there! Fuckin' perfect!

...Wait, no. Hold up. This is a survival shooter... Getting #1 is a bitch...

Uh..., but. Hey, why only two options? Yo, system, you scamming me?"

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

On the 2nd floor, 2 options are given. On the 3rd floor, 3 options. On the nth floor, n options. Floor 1 was an exception: 'All examples shown as a benefit of the first choice.'

"Your mom's fuckin' stingy as hell."

I cursed the system, but no response.

What a boring bastard.

Battlegrounds 2 inherits from the original Battlegrounds shooter...

Iljin Girl VTuber whatever is about some loser nerd dude who's stupid hot banging a hot delinquent bitch who's a virgin...

They become VTuber manager and talent, get all lovey-dovey... Didn't finish it, so not sure.

Obviously, I mentally flipped off the Iljin Girl VTuber one.

It wouldn't help shit with my 1st floor problems.

If Battlegrounds 2 wasn't too tough, I'd pick that in a heartbeat.

Maybe the trial's something easy like 'pick up a gun' or 'reload.'

But damn..., thinking about that VTuber one, the plot's full of holes.

Male lead's hot as fuck, why's he a loser nerd?

Never seen real loser nerds, huh...

Hot guys are alpha males just breathing, fuck.

And fuck..., if the girl's that pretty, just stream facecam.

Why buy a pricey VTuber model?

My mind wandered off for a sec.

I shook it off and refocused.

"Still, Battlegrounds 2 seems pretty useful...

Heh heh... Talk about luck. Grab a gun, stuff it in subspace storage...?"

I checked the differences between the two trials.

The system gave detailed info as I focused on each.

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

<(Game) Battlegrounds 2>

= Get 1 kill.

= You won't die permanently in this trial.

= Infinite retries possible with 100-point recharge.

= 100 points per kill. 1 point per hit.

= Extra survival points for outlasting others.

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

<(Webtoon) Iljin Girl Debuts as VTuber!>

= Help the Iljin girl debut successfully as a VTuber.

= Fail if the Iljin girl dies or gets critically injured, preventing debut.

= Fail if the challenger dies or gets critically injured, preventing assistance.

= Extra reward points based on VTuber popularity.

= Extra reward points based on VTuber earnings.

"Hmm, yeah, Battlegrounds 2 it is.

No permadeath even if you die there, huh?

That was my biggest worry, solved...

The VTuber one's sneakily risky. Trial failure means death...

Sure, in a sweet romcom pure love story, the leads won't die or get maimed,

but Tower trials? Failure means 'death,' so it spooks me anyway."

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

Starting the trial.

My vision went dark.

Felt like I was being transported somewhere.

⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙

Starting the 2nd floor trial.

The 2nd floor trial is 'Get 1 kill.'

Vision blacked out, then I opened my eyes—strapped into a seat on the edge of a massive transport plane.

-"Taiwan number one~♬"-

-"Ni ching chan ma shu fa lum pa!"-

-"Fuck off, so goddamn loud."-

-"Ah, shit. Can you turn off that music? For real? It's annoyingly loud."-

-"Fuck off, you're louder."-

-"Every damn match has one song-blasting asshole and one chingchong..."-

Whoa..., this is straight-up Battlegrounds 2 drop-in. Transport plane, parachute down...

Listening to the chatter around me,

it felt less like real life and more like just playing the game.

No one's got that grim 'kill or be killed' vibe,

just hyped to rack up kills and chicken dinner (#1).

"Damn..., unlike 1 with 100 players, 2 has 1000—map's crawling with people. Ten planes too, whoa."

Differences between Battlegrounds 1 and 2:

-Graphics massively upgraded.

-Physics engine so advanced, bullets pierce walls, ricochets common, grenades/C4 collapse buildings/walls, even craters in ground.

-100 players → 1000 players.

That's it.

Having played BG1 back in the day, BG2 felt easy to adapt to.

Hmm..., phew..., I can get at least 1 kill, right...?

It's weird...

Everyone else on PC, but I'm in full VR—like senses of sight, sound, touch, smell, taste all simulated.

Glancing around the plane, instinctively knew thinking 'V' key toggles view—so I did.

Third-person outside: plane soaring, crossing a huge island below.

Hmm, think 'M' for map...

Map opens. Kill feed too... All game functions intuitive. Even pings.

Tested all the features one by one,

then hit 'F' mentally and jumped from the plane.

Coulda just run back and leaped, but wanted to test the mechanic.

Out in the sky, I free-falled toward a quiet spot—skydiving was fuckin' thrilling.

"Wheeeeee~~~!!! This is insane~~~!!! Shiiiit~~~!!!!"

When in life do I skydive?

I'm kinda a scaredy-cat, so even if paid, I'd hesitate... Nah, if paid enough, maybe.

Anyway, skydiving was insanely fun.

Knowing no death or injury? God-tier invincible bliss.

So goddamn fun, I'd redo the 2nd floor just for this.

100 points for infinite retries, apparently.

Once I got points, come back often for skydives.

Honestly wanted seconds, linger longer...

But ground rushed up—time for chute.

Popped parachute, auto-injected landing run and roll for safe touchdown.

Stumbled around dazed a bit..., then gunfire nearby snapped me alert.

"Gun, gun... Fuck..."

Rushed into a shabby 2-story house ahead to loot.

"Oh, shit. Lucky. Level 3 backpack? Nice..., Level 3 vest too. Whoa...! Level 3 helmet! I'm hella lucky...?"

Right then—

"Why the fuck no gun? Where's the gun?"

No gun on 1st floor.

Only weapon in loot: a machete.

Rest was drinks, painkillers, medkits.
