Chapter 1 - Unnamed

The Gift That Meant Forever

Riya always believed that love was not about grand gestures or expensive gifts. For her, love lived in the smallest moments—the way someone remembered how she liked her tea, or how they noticed when she was quiet. But as Valentine's Day approached, she found herself caught in a storm of expectations.

Her boyfriend, Arjun, was different. He was thoughtful, kind, and deeply in love with her—but he wasn't the kind of person who expressed love through words or flashy surprises. Sometimes, it made Riya wonder.

"Do I matter to him as much as he matters to me?" she thought one evening while scrolling through social media filled with roses, chocolates, and candlelight dinners.

Valentine's Day was just three days away.

Riya sat by her window, watching the golden sunset fade into darkness. Her phone buzzed. It was Arjun.

"Hey, busy?" he texted.

She stared at the screen before replying, "No."

"Meet me tomorrow?"

"Okay," she typed, though her heart wasn't fully in it.

She wanted something special this Valentine's Day. Something that proved his love. Something unforgettable.

But Arjun… he never planned things like that.

While Riya doubted, Arjun was quietly working on something that meant the world to him.

Inside his small room, papers were scattered everywhere—photographs, handwritten notes, ticket stubs, dried flowers. He picked up one picture and smiled.

It was from the first day they met—Riya laughing, her hair flying in the wind.

"I hope she understands…" he whispered to himself.

He wasn't rich. He couldn't afford diamonds or expensive dinners. But he believed love wasn't bought—it was created.

And he was creating something from his heart.

The next day, they met at their usual café.

Riya noticed something different—Arjun seemed distracted.

"You okay?" she asked.

"Yeah, just… work," he replied quickly.

They sat in silence for a while.

Riya finally said, "Valentine's Day is coming…"

Arjun smiled faintly. "Yeah."

That was it.

No excitement. No plans.

Her heart sank.

That night, Riya couldn't sleep.

"Maybe he's lost interest," she thought.

Her best friend Neha said, "If he cared, he would do something. Boys who love you don't stay silent."

The words echoed in her mind.

For the first time, Riya felt distance growing between them.

The day arrived.

The city was filled with red roses and laughter. Couples walked hand in hand, holding gifts and smiling brightly.

Riya wore a simple red dress. She checked her phone.

No message from Arjun.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"Maybe… this is the truth," she whispered.

Just as she turned to leave her room, her phone rang.

It was Arjun.

"Come to the park," he said softly.

Page 6: The Surprise

Riya reached the park with a heavy heart.

She expected nothing.

But as she walked in, she froze.

A pathway was lined with small handwritten notes.

She picked one up.

"Day 1: The moment I saw you, I knew my life was about to change."

Her hands trembled.

She walked further.

Another note:

"Day 27: You laughed at my worst joke. That's when I knew you were special."

Her eyes filled with tears.

At the end of the path stood Arjun, holding a small box—not fancy, not shiny, but wrapped carefully.

"I know I'm not good with big surprises," Arjun said nervously. "But I wanted to give you something real."

He handed her the box.

Inside was a handmade scrapbook.

Every page held a memory—photos, notes, tiny details she didn't even remember mentioning.

One page read:

"You once said you love sunsets. So I saved every sunset we watched together—in my heart and here."

Another said:

"You are my home."

Riya couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

"This… this is everything," she whispered.

Page 8: Forever

"I couldn't buy you something expensive," Arjun said. "But I gave you every moment I've ever loved with you."

Riya stepped closer and hugged him tightly.

"I don't need expensive things," she said softly. "I just needed to know… that I matter."

"You matter more than anything," he replied.

As the sun began to set, they sat together, watching the sky turn shades of orange and pink.

No grand dinner.

No luxury gifts.

Just love—pure, quiet, and forever.

And in that moment, Riya understood something she would never forget:

The best Valentine's gift is not something you can buy… it's something you feel.
