Chapter 1 - When We Met Again

The rain was falling softly over the city when Ayaan stepped out of the café.

He didn't like rainy days.

They reminded him of memories he had tried so hard to forget.

Or maybe… someone.

As he walked down the familiar street, something—or someone—caught his attention.

A girl stood under a bus stop, holding a small blue umbrella.

Her long hair moved gently with the wind, and her eyes were fixed on the rain, as if she was lost in another world.

Ayaan froze.

"No way…" he whispered.

It was her.

Mira.

Five years ago, they had been inseparable.

School friends turned into something more. Late-night calls, endless laughter, shared dreams—they had everything.

Until one day…

She left.

No explanation.

No goodbye.

Just silence.

Ayaan took a deep breath and walked toward her.

"Mira?"

She turned.

For a moment, time stopped.

Her eyes widened in surprise.

"Ayaan…?"

Neither of them spoke for a few seconds.

The sound of rain filled the silence between them.

"You look… different," Mira said softly.

"So do you," Ayaan replied.

But what he really wanted to say was—

I never stopped thinking about you.

They decided to sit in the nearby café.

The same café where they used to meet years ago.

"Funny, isn't it?" Mira smiled faintly. "We're back here again."

"Yeah," Ayaan said. "Like nothing changed."

But everything had.

"So… why did you leave?" Ayaan finally asked.

The question hung heavily in the air.

Mira looked down at her hands.

"I didn't want to," she said quietly.

"Then why?"

She took a deep breath.

"My father got transferred suddenly. Everything happened so fast… I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye."

Ayaan frowned. "You could've called."

"I tried," she said, her voice trembling. "But I heard you were angry… that you didn't want to talk to me."

"I was angry," Ayaan admitted. "But I was also hurt."

"So was I," Mira whispered.

Silence again.

But this time, it felt different.

Softer.

"Did you ever… forget me?" Mira asked hesitantly.

Ayaan let out a small laugh.

"I tried," he said. "Trust me, I tried."

"And?"

He looked straight into her eyes.

"I failed."

Mira smiled, but her eyes were slightly wet.

"Same," she said.

The rain outside had stopped.

The sky slowly cleared, and sunlight began to peek through the clouds.

It felt like a new beginning.

"Do you think," Mira said slowly, "we can start again?"

Ayaan leaned back in his chair.

"Start again?" he repeated.

"Yeah… maybe not from where we ended," she said, "but from where we first met."

Ayaan smiled.

"That sounds better."

They stepped out of the café together.

The streets were still wet, reflecting the soft golden light of the evening.

Mira held her blue umbrella, though the rain had already stopped.

Ayaan looked at her and said, "You don't need that anymore."

Mira smiled and closed the umbrella.

"Maybe I don't."

As they walked side by side, their hands brushed slightly.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then slowly—

Ayaan held her hand.

This time, she didn't let go.

Some love stories don't end.

They just wait…

For the right moment to begin again.
