Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Sports Festival (The Great Optimization)

The UA Sports Festival was not just a school event; it was a global broadcast, a high-stakes server-room where the next generation of "Hardware" was showcased to the world. For Kenji, it was something else: The Open Beta.

Following the USJ incident, Kenji's body had been a wreck of "System Errors" and "Corrupted Sectors." To repair himself, he hadn't just rested; he had plunged into his grandfather's most complex reconstruction yet—a fusion of two ancient, high-mobility space operas: The Origin-Light Protocol (Destiny + Warframe: Complete Edition).

Inside this "Dive," Kenji didn't just fight; he evolved. He spent virtual decades mastering the "Space Magic" of the Guardians—manipulating Solar, Arc, and Void energy—and the bio-mechanical "Transference" of the Tenno. He learned to move like a bullet, to change his elemental "Loadout" mid-stride, and to treat the battlefield as a three-dimensional grid.

When he stepped onto the grass of the UA Stadium, he wasn't just Kenji anymore. He was a Multiclass Master.

The roar of the crowd was a physical pressure, a wall of sound that made the air vibrate. Present Mic's voice boomed over the speakers, introducing the classes.

"AND HERE THEY ARE! THE HEROES WHO SURVIVED THE VILLAIN ATTACK! CLASS 1-A!"

Kenji walked at the back of the line. His eyes were no longer just glowing; they had a faint, orbiting ring of digital white light, like a Ghost's core. His Focus HUD had been replaced by a Neural Sentry Interface.

Part I: The Obstacle Race (Bullet Jump Logic)

"START!" Midnight screamed, snapping her whip.

The race began with a bottleneck at the narrow exit. Todoroki immediately froze the ground, trapping dozens of students in a massive glacier.

Kenji didn't even look down. He tapped into the Warframe Layer.

[ACTIVATING: BULLET JUMP]

Kenji slid forward, his body glowing with a faint blue energy, then launched himself into the air. He didn't just jump; he spun like a kinetic drill, clearing 100 meters in a single, gravity-defying arc. To the spectators, he looked like a streak of silver light.

"SATO IS FLYING! NO, HE'S SPINNING? WHAT IS THAT MOVEMENT!?" Present Mic yelled.

Kenji landed on the back of a 0-Pointer Robo-Inferno. Instead of destroying it, he touched the metal.

[OVERRIDE: SPARROW PROTOCOL]

He didn't hack it this time; he used Light-Logic to transmute the robot's kinetic energy. The massive machine didn't fall; it became a platform. Kenji leaped from robot head to robot head, using the Blink ability of a Void-Walker.

Pop. Pop. Pop.

He was flickering in and out of existence, bypassing the landmines and the tightrope canyon. He finished the race in second place, intentionally trailing behind Midoriya.

Never show your full DPS in the opening round, Kenji thought, checking his Super Meter. Save the 'Ultimate' for the 1v1s.

Part II: The Cavalry Battle (The Fireteam Leader)

For the Cavalry Battle, Kenji found himself as a target. Because he finished high, he had a massive point value. He looked at the available "Party Members" and chose Shoji and Tokoyami.

"We're going to play this like a Raid Boss encounter," Kenji said, his voice cold and calculated. "Shoji, you are our 'Shield.' Tokoyami, you are our 'Support.' I am the 'Caster'."

As the battle began, Team Bakugo and Team Todoroki closed in on them from both sides. Bakugo was screaming, launching himself into the air with explosions.

"GIVE ME THOSE POINTS, GLITCH-BOY!"

Kenji didn't move. He raised his hand, and a sphere of purple, swirling energy manifested.

[SKILL: VOID SINGULARITY]

The Void energy didn't hurt Bakugo, but it created a massive gravitational pull. Bakugo's explosions were sucked toward the center of the sphere, throwing off his trajectory.

"What the—!?" Bakugo spun out of control, landing back on his teammates' shoulders.

Todoroki moved in from the left, a wall of ice racing toward Kenji's feet.

[SKILL: SOLAR RADIANCE]

Kenji snapped his fingers. A localized heat-wave, fueled by the "Solar" logic of the Guardians, evaporated the ice before it could touch Shoji's boots. The stadium was filled with steam.

"He's countering everything!" Iida shouted, his engines roaring as he tried to find an opening.

"It's not just counters," Kenji muttered. "It's Crowd Control."

Kenji switched to the Warframe: Volt logic. He tapped the ground. A wave of electrical energy pulsed outward, stunning the nearby teams for exactly 1.5 seconds—the precise "Status Effect" duration. In that window, Kenji's team moved to the center of the arena and stayed there until the timer hit zero.

[QUALIFIED: RANK 1]

Part III: The Tournament (System vs. Nature)

The final stage was the 1v1 tournament. Kenji's first match was against Hitoshi Shinso.

Shinso tried to bait him into speaking, but Kenji's Neural Sentry had already flagged Shinso's voice as a "Mental Override Hack." Kenji simply muted his own audio-receptors and walked Shinso out of the ring using a Force Push of pure Void energy.

Then came the match the world was waiting for: Kenji Sato vs. Shoto Todoroki.

Todoroki stood at one end of the ring, his face a mask of conflict. Kenji stood at the other, his hands glowing with a shimmering, unstable mix of Ice and Fire logic.

"You've been using everyone else's rules," Todoroki said, his left side beginning to smoke. "But you're just a mimic. You have no power of your own."

Kenji looked at his hands. "You're right, Shoto. I don't have a 'Natural' Quirk. I have an Operating System. And an OS is only as good as the data it processes."

"START!" Midnight yelled.

Todoroki didn't hold back. He launched a mountain of ice—the same attack that had swallowed Sero.

Kenji didn't dodge. He stood his ground and whispered a command that sounded like a thousand voices speaking at once.

"BARRIER: FROST GLOBE."

A dome of crystalline energy erupted around Kenji. The massive glacier hit the dome and shattered like glass against a diamond. Kenji stepped out of the dome, his eyes burning with blue light.

[ANALYZING ELEMENTAL COMPOSITION...]

[ADAPTING RESISTANCE...]

Todoroki gritted his teeth and unleashed his fire. A torrent of orange flame roared across the ring.

Kenji raised his left hand. [SKILL: ABSORPTION SHIELD]. The fire didn't burn him; it was sucked into a golden vortex in his palm.

"Thanks for the Mana," Kenji said.

He lunged. This wasn't a run; it was a Rhino Charge. He moved with the weight of a freight train, his body encased in "Iron Skin" logic. He slammed into Todoroki, sending the boy flying toward the edge of the ring.

Todoroki recovered mid-air, using his ice to create a slide. He was panting, his body temperature fluctuating wildly. "Why... why can't I touch you!?"

"Because you're fighting a 'Perfect Edition'," Kenji said, his voice echoing. "I've cleared worlds where the gods use fire and ice better than you ever will. You're fighting with instinct. I'm fighting with Calculated Mastery."

Kenji initiated his "Ultimate." He pulled an ethereal bow made of pure Void light from the air—the Shadowshot.

"This is the end of the round, Shoto."

He fired. The arrow hit the center of the ring, and purple "tethers" of energy lashed out, latching onto Todoroki. The tethers didn't hurt, but they suppressed Todoroki's Quirk. His ice crumbled; his fire died. He was "Suppressed."

Kenji walked up to the immobilized Todoroki and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Clear your 'Internal Errors', Shoto," Kenji whispered. "Use both sides, or you'll never reach the 'End Game'."

With a gentle shove, Kenji pushed the suppressed Todoroki out of the bounds.

Part IV: The Final Conflict (The Mirror Match)

The final match was Kenji vs. Bakugo.

Bakugo was vibrating with pure, unadulterated rage. He had watched Kenji dismantle Todoroki, and he had spent the last hour "Studying" Kenji's movements.

"I see it now, you damn nerd!" Bakugo screamed as they faced off. "You're not just fast. You're 'Teleporting' between frames! You're 'Buffing' your skin! It's all just cheap tricks! I'm going to blow up your entire 'System'!"

"Then come and try to 'Crash' me, Bakugo," Kenji said, his HUD turning blood-red.

[WARNING: STAMINA AT 20%]

[INITIATING: EMERGENCY OVERCLOCK]

[LOADOUT: THE EXCALIBUR UMBRA]

The fight was a blur of high-level gameplay. Bakugo was moving at speeds he had never reached before, using his explosions to create a 360-degree attack pattern. Kenji was parrying every blast with a shimmering "Exalted Blade" of pure light.

Boom! Clang! Boom!

The stadium was being torn apart. The crowd was silent, mesmerized by the sheer technicality of the fight. It wasn't a brawl; it was a dance of two masters.

Bakugo launched his "Howitzer Impact," a massive, spinning explosion.

Kenji didn't parry. He used Transference. He "projected" his consciousness forward, leaving his body behind as a decoy. The explosion hit the decoy, but the real Kenji was already behind Bakugo.

He didn't use a weapon. He used a Dragon Shout infused with Arc Electricity.

"STRUN... BAH... QO!" (Storm Call)

Lightning struck from the clear sky, hitting Kenji's hand and being redirected into a focused bolt. Bakugo took the hit full in the chest. He was launched across the ring, his costume smoking.

But Bakugo didn't stay down. He stood up, coughing blood, his eyes wild. "NOT... YET!"

Kenji looked at his Stamina Bar. It was at 1%. His vision was flickering. The "Modding" of the Warframe and Destiny archives was too heavy for his 15-year-old body.

[SYSTEM SHUTDOWN IMMINENT]

"Fine," Kenji whispered. "One last 'Ultimate'."

He merged every archive into a single point. The weight of the Age of Cinder, the force of the Thu'um, the speed of the Sandevistan, and the magic of the Light.

He lunged. Bakugo lunged.

The collision created a white-out that blinded the cameras. When the light faded, Kenji was standing over Bakugo, his hand inches from Bakugo's face. Bakugo was unconscious, his arms exhausted.

Kenji looked up at the podium. He didn't smile. He just checked his notification.

[QUEST COMPLETE: BECOME THE SYMBOL OF THE SYSTEM]

[LEVEL UP: 45]

[NEW ARCHIVE DETECTED: ELDEN RING (GOD-SLAYER EDITION)]

Kenji collapsed, his "System" finally going dark as he fell into a deep, well-earned sleep.
