Chapter 53 - Two Pieces of Spoils

"Ah… my bad. Guess I used a bit too much force."

Descending from the sky with overwhelming momentum, Peter's impact had completely shattered the Destroyer armor beneath his feet.

And right in front of him—

Thor, hammer in hand, mouth wide open as he roared mid-charge…

…froze.

"This—who are you?"

The Spider Armor was undeniably intimidating.

It might not have the same bulky presence as the Iron Man suit, but its red-and-blue metallic frame, combined with the array of mounted weaponry, gave off a far more aggressive, battle-hardened aura.

For a moment, Thor couldn't even process what he was seeing.

In his mind, Earth's warriors were like the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents he had encountered before—physically weak, reliant on primitive gunpowder weapons.

But the figure before him?

That was something else entirely.

To Thor, Peter felt less like a human… and more like a warrior from a top-tier cosmic civilization.

After all, technology capable of harnessing something like the Spark Core—something that could even create life—was not something even Asgard would dismiss lightly.

"You can call me… Spider-Man."

Standing atop the shattered remains of the Destroyer, Peter struck a casual yet cool pose.

"Spider-Man…?"

Behind the mask, Peter's gaze never left Thor's hand.

Mjolnir.

The legendary hammer of Asgard.

More importantly—the personal weapon of the God of Thunder.

Compared to the Destroyer beneath his feet, Mjolnir's reputation was on an entirely different level.

For thousands of years, Odin had rarely fought personally. The wars of Asgard had been led by Thor.

Across the Nine Realms—excluding Earth—there was hardly anyone who didn't know the name of Mjolnir.

Even the Frost Giants and the Elves regarded it with deep respect.

Because that hammer symbolized power.

And power… attracted belief.

The sheer amount of faith energy accumulated within Mjolnir was staggering.

Enough to make Peter's mouth practically water.

"Faith energy… second only to luck-based energy as a sacrificial resource."

"That hammer… I have to get it."

But just as Peter was figuring out how to pry Mjolnir from Thor's hand—

Something changed.

Beneath his feet, the shattered fragments of the Destroyer armor began to stir.

A faint flame flickered to life.

Or rather…

It had never gone out.

Once ignited, it would burn endlessly.

Golden runes began to glow one after another. The scattered fragments trembled… then started moving, as if pulled by an invisible force.

From all directions—

From beneath Peter's feet—

The pieces surged toward a single point, beginning to reassemble.

"…You've gotta be kidding me."

Peter's expression darkened.

The armor was trying to reform.

Behind him, the Spider Armor shifted. Plates slid apart as a massive cannon emerged, glowing with an ominous light.

"I smashed you once… I can smash you twice!"

As the Destroyer continued to reconstruct itself, the ion cannon on Peter's back finished charging.

A weapon designed by Cybertronian technology for interstellar warfare locked onto the forming armor—

And fired.

ROOOOAR!!!

The beam tore through the air like a raging dragon, scorching everything in its path. The surrounding atmosphere warped under the immense heat, leaving behind the sharp stench of burning matter.

The blast struck true.

The partially reformed Destroyer was obliterated once more.

Metal fragments scattered across the ground, clattering loudly as they fell.

For a brief moment—

Silence.

But before Peter could relax…

The fragments moved again.

"…It won't die?"

Peter frowned.

In the movies, the Destroyer had been taken down by Thor with a single strike.

In the comics, however, it was an absurdly powerful weapon capable of overwhelming even Thor at his peak.

But this situation?

Didn't match either version.

"Only magic can defeat magic!"

Thor's voice rang out.

"No matter how many attacks you use, you won't cause real damage to the Destroyer! Leave this to me!"

Confidence and pride radiated from the Asgardian prince.

With a powerful leap, Thor soared into the air, Mjolnir spinning rapidly in his grasp. Lightning gathered around him, forming a storm as he aimed directly at the reforming armor.

"NO—!"

Far away, in Asgard's golden palace, Loki roared in fury.

His face twisted in disbelief, unable to accept the outcome.

But in the very next moment—

He froze.

His expression shifted into something… strange.

Somewhere between laughter and despair.

Because on Earth—

Just as Thor raised Mjolnir and brought it crashing down—

A red-and-blue figure moved.

Wings flared open.

Peter launched himself upward—

Faster.

Far faster than Thor.

"You think magic makes you special?!"

Peter shot forward, propulsion blazing from his feet. His muscles tensed, every ounce of power in the Spider Armor unleashed at once.

"As an alien, you should at least follow Earth's rules!"

"Got a permit for that hammer?!"

In a blur, he overtook Thor—

And drove a devastating punch straight into him.

"Take this— Phantom Punch!!"

BOOM!!!

The strike connected cleanly.

To Peter, this battlefield belonged to him.

The Destroyer.

Thor.

Mjolnir.

All of it—

Was his.

His spoils.

And if his "spoils" thought they could act on their own?

They'd better ask for his permission first.
