Chapter 63 - Spider-Man Enters the Global Power Game

The contents of Peter Parker's file—personally written and classified by Nick Fury—were not something he would ever say out loud.

In fact, only a handful of individuals with the highest clearance even knew of its existence.

But today—

What Fury wanted to discuss wasn't Peter himself.

It was Asgard.

"I've already forwarded Coulson's full report to you," Fury said, his tone firm, almost cold. "Is there anything you'd like to add, Mr. Parker?"

His demeanor was sharp, distant.

Completely different from how he usually spoke to Tony.

Tony, sitting to the side, felt the shift immediately.

Fury had always treated him like a junior—someone he'd known since the days of Howard Stark.

There had always been a sense of familiarity, even authority.

But this?

This was different.

This was how Fury spoke to a threat.

Peter, however, didn't seem bothered.

"Coulson's report is already thorough enough," he said calmly. "But if you want my input…"

He leaned back slightly.

"I suggest you start preparing."

"Preparing for what?" Tony cut in, unable to hold himself back any longer.

"For war."

Peter's answer was immediate.

Tony blinked.

Fury didn't interrupt.

Peter glanced at Tony, then continued casually.

"No matter how you define them—gods or aliens—Asgard is still an extraterrestrial force."

"And one thing is certain."

"They're stronger than us."

His gaze shifted back to Fury.

"Tell me, Director—if someone stronger than you suddenly showed up next door…"

"What would you do?"

This wasn't just a question of individuals anymore.

This was about civilizations.

When Europeans reached the Americas—

What did they do to the natives?

When they arrived in Asia—

How did they treat the countless fragmented powers there?

Now—

The gap wasn't between nations.

It was between Earth and the cosmos.

"You're saying they might attack us?" Tony asked, frowning.

"Attack? Probably not," Peter shrugged. "From what I understand, Asgard treats Earth like a backyard."

"Think of it like how certain countries view their neighboring regions—close, familiar, but not equal."

He paused briefly.

"But that's not the point."

"The point is—"

"We're not alone."

"And whoever else is out there…"

"…is far more advanced than we are."

His tone remained calm.

Almost matter-of-fact.

Anyone with basic sense would understand this.

If extraterrestrials existed—

Humanity had only two real choices:

Resist.

Or submit.

Sure—

There was always the possibility of a benevolent civilization.

One that would guide humanity, uplift it, bring it into some grand cosmic harmony.

But—

Leaders didn't plan based on hope.

They planned for the worst.

Even if there was only a one-percent chance of war—

Preparation was mandatory.

Only fools believed that showing strength would provoke conflict.

If a civilization could be triggered into total war simply because someone prepared defenses—

Then that civilization would have destroyed itself long ago.

Fury knew all of this.

Peter didn't need to explain it.

In fact—

The moment Coulson's report came in—

Fury had already convened emergency meetings with S.H.I.E.L.D., the U.S. government, and military leadership.

But Peter brought it up anyway.

Because—

He had a reason.

"Director Fury," Peter said, his tone shifting slightly, "Umbrella is willing to assist in the upcoming military upgrade."

He leaned forward.

"And I'm curious…"

"Would S.H.I.E.L.D. be open to our involvement?"

There it was.

The real objective.

Not a warning.

A proposal.

Peter wanted cooperation.

Full-scale cooperation.

Weapons.

Armor.

Advanced transport systems.

Even—

Super-soldier enhancements.

He had the technology.

Far beyond what Earth currently possessed.

That—

Was his bargaining chip.

And in return?

He wanted access.

To S.H.I.E.L.D.

To their projects.

To their secrets.

Most importantly—

To the Tesseract.

Because whether Loki came or not—

That Infinity Stone…

Would not be ignored.

If Loki never arrived—

Then Peter would claim it himself.

If Loki did arrive—

Then the Tesseract would become the key to controlling the situation.

At this point—

The original storyline…

Didn't matter anymore.

Relying blindly on "canon" would be stupidity.

Would Loki still serve Thanos?

Would he still open the portal?

Would the Chitauri invasion even happen the same way?

There were too many variables.

After all—

Loki was the God of Mischief.

If he wanted—

He could easily betray Thanos.

And if he held both the Mind Stone…

And the Space Stone?

Why would he fear anyone?

Which meant—

Peter needed control.

Absolute control.

The Tesseract—

Had to be in his hands.

Only then—

Could he ensure that everything unfolded according to his plan.

Not fate's.

Not chaos'.

Not anyone else's.
