Chapter 4 - Vice Admiral Kuzan’s Evaluation

Fourteen years ago, one year after Rowan arrived in this world, he finally understood his situation and realized that this was not a medieval world, but the world of One Piece…

A group of maggots came.

God Valley. This was Rowan's birthplace, and a place that had now completely disappeared.

The entire population of God Valley, along with the slaves brought by the Celestial Dragons, totaled over one hundred thousand. In the end, only five hundred survived, saved by Uncle Kuma.

A survival rate of five in a thousand, and he, who was only a one year old infant at the time, happened to be among them.

As for the reason…

The Celestial Dragons had chosen this place for their once every three years "study tour," holding a killing competition where the people of God Valley and the slaves were treated as prey.

Such an absurd reason.

And afterward, because it needed to be erased, the entire island was wiped out.

If Aunt Ginny had not sent out information two weeks in advance using a loophole, if the chaos caused by the arrival of the Rocks Pirates had not occurred, if Uncle Kuma had not eaten the Paw Paw Fruit at the final moment…

Then Rowan would not have a present like this. He would have long been pierced by a blade, reduced to nothing more than a so-called ten point prey.

Bartholomew Kuma, one of the future Seven Warlords of the Sea. After saving five hundred people from God Valley, he and Ginny raised Rowan in the Sorbet Kingdom in the South Blue.

To Rowan, these two were extremely important people in his life.

And from the latest chapter of One Piece he had read before transmigrating, he knew their future.

Ten years later, Ginny, who had already become the commander of the Eastern Army of the Revolutionary Army, would be captured by a Celestial Dragon.

After that, she would be used by Saint Saturn for some kind of experiment, contract an incurable disease called Sapphire Scale, and pass it on to the child brought down from Mary Geoise… Jewelry Bonney.

From there, a series of tragedies would unfold.

For Rowan, changing the future ten years later might not be difficult. Keeping an eye on Ginny or canceling that meeting could avoid it.

But the premise was… encountering a Celestial Dragon was truly just coincidence.

In God Valley, after Kuma ate the Paw Paw Fruit, he had a conversation with Saint Saturn.

Later, at only nine years old, Kuma began saving people. As for how he escaped, Rowan did not know.

The disease Sapphire Scale appeared because of some experiment, which brought even more unknowns.

As the sky just began to brighten, a yellow cloud streaked across the sky and returned to Rasgap Town at high speed.

Rowan's shadow clone had already returned to the dormitory in the middle of the night, greeting people along the way as usual without any abnormalities.

After eating in the cafeteria and informing Colonel Lomi, Rowan boarded a Marine warship with a document in hand.

Rasgap Town was not far from the special passage. While merchant caravans had to queue, the Marines did not. Four days later, they arrived at Loguetown at the base of Reverse Mountain.

Four days later, Loguetown Port.

At this moment, countless warships were already docked here.

Even though Roger had surrendered, the World Government and the Marines still maintained the highest level of vigilance regarding his execution.

There were many people…

Spectators, those who came intentionally, and teams of Marines patrolling the streets made Loguetown the center of the world's attention.

Loguetown Marine Branch.

After submitting his documents, Rowan met one of Colonel Lomi's connections, Vice Admiral Kuzan, who wore an eye mask and sunglasses.

This connection was indeed impressive.

Along with Admiral Zephyr, who was currently an elite instructor at Headquarters, if Kuzan was included, then there were two generations of Admirals backing him.

"Rowan?"

"Yes. Seaman Rowan from West Blue Marine Branch 80."

Kuzan nodded. "Good spirit. I heard you like executing pirates and even applied to be the executioner for Roger. Can you tell me why?"

He placed the document down and looked over. "You should understand that Roger, known as the Pirate King, still has crew members who have not been captured. In such a situation, the executioner is very likely to face retaliation afterward. This is not the same as the pirate crews you encountered in the West Blue."

Rowan replied, "If I fear the unknown, then all my loved ones who have already died would not rest in peace."

As his words fell, Kuzan slightly raised his head and carefully observed the fifteen year old boy introduced by his old friend.

Bartolomeo, his former classmate, was not someone who had only seen the narrow world of the West Blue. Someone he called a monster was worth personally evaluating.

Back in the elite class at Headquarters six years ago, the only one considered a monster had been himself.

"Kuzan. That is my name."

"Also, I have already submitted the recommendation for you to be the executioner. The execution will take place in three days. And I will remain on this island for one week after that."

Rowan looked over in confusion.

Kuzan continued, "You must have seen it on your way here. Many people have come to Loguetown to watch the execution. Among them are many great pirates, and quite a few strong ones."

"The execution of Pirate King Roger is meant to deter the increasing number of pirates. The higher ups want them to witness it. But because of that, you will be in danger."

After the execution, as the unknown executioner from the West Blue who carried out Roger's execution, countless people would want Rowan's head.

Kuzan wanted to see if this young man called a monster by his friend could survive.

Inside his temporary residence, Rowan stood by the window, looking at the street as he thought.

Kuzan, at twenty five years old, had not yet experienced the Ohara incident. His justice was still Burning Justice, not Lazy Justice.

As for the Roger Pirates…

Whether it was Rayleigh or Scopper Gaban, after learning everything at Laugh Tale, they respected Roger's choice.

So after Roger's execution, what Rowan needed to face were only pirates who wanted to gain fame by taking his head.

And at that time, when Roger's soul entered the prison, if he wanted to quickly extract his sin points, only the cell in Passage One would work.

Passage One. Rather than a prison cell, it was more like a dormitory.

Executing Roger, in Rowan's plan, would bring more than just sin points.

Also… Loguetown right now had gathered a group of incredible figures.

Future Warlords, future Emperors, and the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Dragon was not easy to find, and to be safe, a shadow clone would need to remain in the open.

"I need to go out and take a look."

Rowan packed his belongings, then left the Marine branch. After asking around for the largest tavern in Loguetown, he headed straight there.

Meanwhile, Kuzan, who had already begun evaluating Rowan, was stunned when he learned that the first thing this kid did after settling in was to go drink.

This kid… did he not understand what I meant?

[Note: Aokiji still followed Burning Justice during the Edd War period, and only adopted Lazy Justice after Ohara.]
