She squirmed on the floor like a dying worm.
Her skin was ashen, and blood streamed out of every orifice. From her reddened eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Her wide eyes darted around in fear, staring but not seeing… until they landed on me.
Focus crept into her gaze.
Uncontrollable whimpering came out of her lips as the blood in her mouth gurgled and frothed.
My heart raced and I took a step forward only to stop, sickened at the sight.
She looked like she was suffering from food poisoning and the infected bite of a rabid animal at the same time.
"Plea… se," she cried out, her voice hoarse and strained between raspy breaths. "I be—beg… you. Sto… sto…p this…"
My hands flew to my lips to stifle my gasp and I could not help but feel disgusted at myself for what I did next.
Behind my palms, I struggled with the insane urge to smile.
