"Ye—yes. Forgive me, my Lord." Ru shifted her eyes to the side, avoiding my gaze. The draconian's whole frame trembled.
I had no way to reel the girl in properly and she was already rebelling. It was one thing having to deal with my father, but another to deal with this stubborn creature and find out what madness was occurring.
And this was the most pressing!
"Did you not give her my warning?" I asked, not bothering to hide my annoyance.
Ru flinched at the frigid cold that swept around us. My body quivered and I stepped away, pinching the bridge of my nose as I struggled to hold myself together.
"My Lord, she—she dared to brand you a liar. That you—"
"Enough." I grumbled and dashed past her towards my chambers.
The doors were ajar. I pushed through them and the scene that greeted me brought me to a halt.
Servants stood frozen along the walls, their faces pale, and their eyes fixed on the bed with undisguised fear.
