His eyes widened subtly. He looked surprised.
"What are you talking about right now?" His voice was low.
I swallowed. "I heard about the servant—"
"I did not ask you to use your blood against the others," he clipped. "Of course, I had to tie up loose ends. Killing all of them though would have been reckless."
My stomach clenched. Both from hunger and dread.
He had wanted to kill them all at first?
And the way he had just said those words without much thought unnerved me.
His head tilted slightly. A predator reassessing its prey.
"I will comply." I swallowed. It felt like I had swallowed glass. "I will not bring undue attention to myself. My stubbornness ends now."
He frowned.
He might not have liked what he was hearing, but I did my best to hold myself together and wait for his reaction. Any reaction. He could even laugh in my face and joke, or even decide to bring Becca in here to torture her.
My throat constricted.
I sincerely hoped not.
