His sudden acceptance floored me, but it quickly shifted to irritation.
He was easily accepting this? Just like that?
Why was I even surprised? These were words he could easily go back on.
'Oh, you will pay for this.'
"No." I pressed down harder on my foot and he grimaced, glaring at me.
"Get it off—"
"I don't trust you," I said flatly. "Your words mean nothing. They always have. You've lied before, you've manipulated, and schemed, and done whatever it took to do what you wanted. Why should I believe you now?"
His hand trembled as he raised it and slowly wrapped it around my ankle. "I just said—"
"You will answer my request." I pressed harder, and the chain between us blazed. I could feel it responding to my will, to the fury I was pouring into it. "You will make it happen. Not just because you have decided to, but because you have no choice."
