Victor had his back to the girls as he looked warily into the fog , he didn't know what level the monster he was going to face would be at, but he hoped it wouldn't be above lvl 3.
When he was contemplating his strategy he heard Sakura's voice from behind him." "Eight of them." Victor was surprised but not too much as he felt that it should be her trait.
" They are coming from North and are spreading to Northeast... Thirty metres , they are moving fast..."
Victor quickly moved towards the direction Sakura said hoping to intercept the wolves without letting them focus their aggro on the sisters, Yuki listened to Victor's command as she stayed beside Sakura her eyes scanning the surroundings.
She knew Sakura's information couldn't be wrong but it didn't prevent her from being cautious, since unlike before when the two of them were hunting monsters where she did all the fighting, now she just had one job and that was to protect her sister.
Victor would take care of the rest ...just like he always had...

The first wolf came out of the fog like it was launched as it's snarling face hurtled towards Victor who side stipped and drew his blade across its flank making wolf yelp.
And by the time it landed on the ground the Tetanus effect had already triggered as it feell to the ground in a few seconds not even getting a moment to turn around.

But it wasn't over as two more wolves came out of the fog their Fur's ash grey and their bodies being larger than the biggest dogs.
They growled as more wolves stepped out of the fog sparks forming from their mouths as they exhaled puffs of steam.
Yuki clenched her sword tightly as she took a step forward but she felt a hold on her wrist that held her back and brought her back to reality.
" Don't..." Sakura warned Yuki knowing what was going through her sister's head , it was not that Sakura wasn't worried about Victor, infact she was very much worried and felt frustrated by the fact that Yuki had to protect her and other than being a scout she was just dead weight.
But Sakura decided to trust Victor, she had nagging feeling that he wasn't worried because of the Wolves but something else because the effortless way in which he dispatched the first wolf was seen by both of them.
Yuki gazed at Sakura for a few moments before sighing and watching the battle making sure to keep a vigilant eye on the surroundings.
"Let's just trust him..." Sakura said softly as Yuki offered no other reaction other than a subtle clench of her jaw...

Sakura was right about her insticts because Victor wasn't worried about the wolves as they were just level one monster and they couldn't hurt him , but what made him tense was their numbers.
They might not be a threat to him , but that wasn't the case for Yuki and Sakura. He couldn't even let one wolf pass through because it would be dangerous.
Victor was protective of both Sakura and Yuki , and even if years had passed it was still ingrained in him...

Yuki watched with a speechless and confused gaze as her talent helped her understand that Victor was fighting efficiently but at the same time it wasn't anything grand or flashy.
Heck she could probably take him out in a 1v1 if it was pure skill , because she had the advantage due to her 'A rank talent Battle Intuition. '
Yuki understood that it must be his talent that's boosting his offense and defense since he was able to deal with the wolves so easily.
She herself had an A rank talent and her sister had an S rank talent, so Victor should definitely have something that was either on the same level as Sakura or above and that was astonishing.
Yuki's breath hitched as she watched the rest wolves surround Victor as some of them were even able to bite him.
Her eyes widened in fear as she watched four of them open their maws as sparks started to form and flames started gather in the space.
Her insticts screamed and she had played enough games to know that it must be some kind of flame attack.
"Vic! " Yuki called out his nickname in worry as her feet moved on it's own but Sakura's grip held her back as she bit her lips and stayed in place.
She couldn't move, if she did then Sakura would be in danger. All it would take was a single wolf and Sakura would be finished...

Victor got hit by 4 fireballs but the flames died down as quickly as they hit him and even the wolves looked speechless.

The damage didn't even breaks through his defence and even the burn damge did nothing as Victor caught a wolf that jumped at him and stabbed his sword through it's throat. It was completely unnecessary since he just needed to slash it a bit, but he was having fun.
And the wolves could feel it , they had become Prey from Predator at the same time they didn't retreat since retreat was never an option.
The wolves weren't really too intelligent but at the same time they weren't dumb either. One of them spotted Yuki and Sakura as it turned around to rush in her direction but it wasn't missed by Victor.
Victor didn't hesitate as he threw his sword at the wolf and his aim and luck didn't fail him as it struck the wolf and his passive triggered as the wolf stumbled to the ground in a few seconds as a cold corpse.
The other wolves didn't waste this opportunity as they started attacking Victor but even without a weapon in his hand these wolves still weren't a threat. He couldn't hurt them but they couldn't hurt him either.
Victor ran to the fallen wolf and picked up his rusted sword from beside it and from then on it was just anticlimatic as the rest of the Wolves got slaughtered, one tried to escape but Victor got it before it could.
The whole wolf pack was eradicated by Victor alone , but somethin wasn't adding up as there were only 7 wolves ... 'Where's the eighth one?'
Victor wasn't the only one who had the same though as he heard Sakura's voice form behind him.
"It's right in front of us 10 metres into the fog... I can't sense it's level " The moment she completed her words a loud howl erupted from the woods , as the howl seemed to contain rage and killing intent.
This was the same howl they heard in the beginning and soon the owner of the howl revealed itself shortly after.
A giant wolf larger than the other wolf , it's fur a mixture of Ash and scarlet , hot steam coming out of it's maw while it's eyes glowed an eerie blood red.
" L-Level 3! " Victor heard Sakura's panicked words and that made Victor use his appraisal on the beast before him.

Victor let out a sigh of relief as the stats were manageable and with Rusted Sword and Cotton Robe the wolf was no threat to him.
This elite grade monster which could easily dismantle most beginner parties was just experience points for Victor.
The wolf seemingly sensing the lack of fear from Victor growled as it readied a ball of fireball at its maw.
Victor didn't stay put as he ran at the wolf , if the fireball was going to land somewhere then it should be on him.
With auto heal even if he got damaged he could just heal it back up.

With a loud bang the a large fireball crashed against Victor completely obscuring his form as he caught on fire.

As quickly as the damage was done , it was healed as even the Elite Monster couldn't do anything to Victor.
The wolf was surely a bit taken but before it could think about what to do Victor was already near it as he started to slash at with his sword.
Wolf slashed back at him but it simply couldn't damage him and in the end Victor triggered the Tetanus effect in 5 slashes.
In less than 10 secs the elite mini boss was down and both Yuki and Sakura could only watch with awe.
