Evelyn Grant was so focused on finishing her work and not causing trouble for the firm or Mr. Shaw that she never stopped to consider whether this was all a trap.
And for Mr. Shaw, those were the exact words he wanted to hear.
But, of course, he couldn't agree right away. That would look suspicious.
He sighed, feigning a difficult position. "But with your health in this state... Ms. Grant, the doctor gave me an earful after I brought you to the hospital! He said I was exploiting my employees."
"The doctor doesn't know the specifics of the situation, but I do." Evelyn Grant was eager to get back in the courtroom anyway, rather than just organizing files.
"So... I should give the case back to you?"
"Yes! You can send the files over. I can start looking at them while I'm still in the hospital."
