Knowing she was going to see Ethan Rhodes that afternoon, Zoe Rhodes was noticeably less nervous during lunch at the Bennett family's home.
The atmosphere at the Bennett family's dining table wasn't lively—it was downright oppressive. If the old gentleman didn't speak, no one else dared to.
Of course, Nathan Bennett and Zoe Rhodes were the exceptions.
"Try this." Nathan Bennett used the serving chopsticks to remove the fish bones, placing the fillet in Zoe Rhodes's bowl.
He barely ate anything himself. Worried that Zoe Rhodes might feel uncomfortable, he just kept serving her food.
"Do you want to try the pig's trotters braised with plums? They're not bad."
"Yes, yes, of course." Zoe Rhodes nodded, as relaxed as if she were at a banquet, accepting everything he offered.
The whole time, the old gentleman watched the two of them with a beaming smile.
You had to admit, they really did look like a young couple madly in love.
The old gentleman felt much more at ease.
