If she hadn't seen him bring in the takeout with her own eyes, she probably would have believed him and been moved to tears.
Zoe Rhodes picked up her spoon and called his bluff. "You haven't thrown out the bag yet."
Donovan glanced back at the kitchen.
It was true.
In his haste, he had only remembered to throw away the takeout containers, forgetting the bag. It was now sitting conspicuously on top of the dishwasher.
Caught red-handed, Donovan wasn't the least bit embarrassed. He shamelessly changed his story. "I woke up at four to personally order you takeout, personally bring it inside, personally pour it into a bowl, and personally carry it to you. Well? Are you moved?"
"..." Zoe's appetite was poor, and the plain congee was tasteless in her mouth.
She listlessly tried a spoonful and didn't want any more.
"You can have it then."
She pushed the bowl away.
Donovan frowned. 'How on earth did Ethan Rhodes raise such a picky little thing?'
