It wasn't until Silas took a change of clothes from the wardrobe that the sound of the closing door pulled her from her reverie.
Joyce patted her cheeks, trying to calm herself down.
'What a male vixen!'
'Did he have any idea how seductive his words had been?'
She grabbed a fresh set of bedding and changed the sheets and duvet cover in the guest room. By the time Silas came out of the shower, she had just washed some oats, preparing to make oatmeal.
"Mrs. Zimmerman isn't coming over tonight. Your fever just broke, so I'll make some oatmeal for you."
Silas grunted in acknowledgment, watching her skillful movements.
"Kian never mentioned you could cook. When did you learn?"
Joyce's movements faltered for a moment, and a peculiar look flickered in her eyes. But she just smiled and said, "When I was abroad, I was craving food from home, so I looked up some recipes online and taught myself a few things."
